Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Riku smirked a little, going to the doorway and leaning against it as he watched Lightning go. "We start tomorrow," he told her then. "Be prepared to hold my hand." But he had a feeling she wouldn't mind that too much. He wouldn't either.
Lightning stopped at the other side of the living room, turning around to face him. "Fine," she said evenly. "Just don't expect any make-out sessions." She just remembered what they talked about at the start of dinner, with that girl Ashe. Riku may have been kissing her, but he wouldn't kiss Lightning so easily.

Riku smiled a little more, releasing a small chuckle. "I didn't plan on it," he said softly. He didn't expect them to kiss in public; he had a feeling Lightning wouldn't appreciate that. He wouldn't either, because if he did kiss her, he wanted it to be private.

Lightning smirked despite how jealous she felt concerning Ashe. She didn't want to make out with him necessarily, but...she didn't want any other girl to. "Good to see you know your limits," she commented. He may have talked her into the fake relationship, but he wouldn't be talking her into kissing.

Riku rolled his eyes a little, lifting a hand in a small wave. "Goodnight, Lightning," he called softly. They had a long day, full of some ups and downs. But mostly ups, which he didn't mind one bit. He would see her tomorrow.
Lightning's expression softened as the smirk faded and she lifted a hand. "Goodnight," she responded, lowering her hand after the wave was done. After a second, she turned around and started the way that she had been going before. It was time to--hopefully--get some rest.

Riku looked after Lightning, watching her go for a moment before he returned to the kitchen. He didn't even bother getting a drink like he originally planned. He instead sat down in a barstool and stared at the counter, thoughts already beginning. He had a lot of thinking to do.

Later that night

Lightning had a hard enough time falling asleep that night after all that happened that day, but unfortunately for her, she couldn't even remain in that slumber. After some tossing and turning, she realized that she wouldn't be able to fall asleep again for a little while. So she headed out to the living room and turned on the television quietly. There was nothing on this early in the morning--just some reruns of sports. That was what she kept on.

Riku slept on his side, but his slumber was anything but peaceful. Ansem, Xehanort's Heartless, was haunting him in his dreams tonight. But Riku wasn't the victim this time; Lightning was. Riku's eyebrows furrowed as he clutched the sheets with one hand, a grunt leaving him as he fought the man in his dreams, begging him to release her. But all he did was hold her with one hand by her neck, dangling her over the deepest, darkest abyss.
Lightning couldn't get the thoughts of tomorrow (or today, since it was morning) off her mind. She and Riku would act like a couple today. Maybe they wouldn't be "cute" with each other, like Sora and Kairi were, but they'd definitely need to be more affectionate with each other. Riku said the affection on his side wasn't fake. But she kept wondering--was it affection or care? Did he really like her, or was she just another girlfriend to him? She really wasn't sure, since she never saw him with other girls. If he was this way with all of them, she would be heartbroken.

Riku tensed in his sleep, the nightmare continuing to the moment when he started to approach Ansem, only to cause him to drop Lightning into the pit. Her scream surrounded him in his dream, and he woke with a start. A gasp left him as he sat up, sweat coating his forehead and making his hair stick to his skin. He breathed heavily, looking around and noticing that he was in his room, the navy bed comforter looking black in the dark room. He sighed, mostly in relief. It was just a nightmare.
Hand holding was a must. That was obvious. And if Riku needed to put his arm around Lightning, that was okay too. The press knew that both of them had tough exteriors, so how could they expect a ton of affectionate, mushy gestures out of them? They could pull this off hopefully. At this point, it was their only choice. She just couldn't go back to court...

Nightmare or not, Riku knew he had to at least check on Lightning. He threw his covers off him and left his room, the cold air hitting his bare torso as he approached the door to the guest bedroom. It was partially open, so he poked his head in, able to see fairly well in the darkness. But the bed was empty. Riku's eyebrows furrowed as he stayed still, a part of him tensing in fear that something truly did happen to her. But that was when he heard the television going, which he hadn't left on before going to bed. He wandered down the hall and stopped upon reaching the living room, seeing the girl he was so worried about on the couch.
Even if Lightning was staring at the Blitzball game, her thoughts were elsewhere. The image of Riku making out with some girl wasn't a pleasant one. Nor were the doubts it put into her mind. What if she wasn't special? What if she was just the girl that he chose to be with for now? Lightning wasn't looking for a fling--heck, she hadn't been looking for anything at all. This found her, and she wasn't sure what to do now.

Riku put his hands on his hips, feeling the waistband of his grey lounge pants as he gazed at the ground. Lightning was alright, thank goodness. He lifted his head and stared, but only for a moment. "Couldn't sleep?" he called lowly. She seemed distracted, as if she wasn't even watching what was on the screen. Riku wondered what was up.
Lightning tensed at the call, jumping just a tad because she hadn't been expecting a voice. She turned around and looked back, surprised to see Riku standing there...and without a shirt. Man does he have some nice abs. "No," she said as she shook her head. "And I'm guessing you couldn't either." Why else would he be standing here at three-twenty-three in the morning?

"I could, but not well," Riku answered with a small shake of his head. He disregarded his hair for now, sure that it was a little disheveled in some places, and still sticking to his hot forehead. He hadn't exactly come down from that high just yet, a bit of fear still within him. After nightmares like that, the fear usually lingered.
Light tilted her head a little bit. It was obvious that Riku had a nightmare, because of his hair for one thing. But his composure as a whole showed that he felt panicked a few moments ago. Or maybe he was still feeling that. She patted the couch beside her wordlessly, moving over a little bit so that he'd have more room. It didn't seem like they were going back to bed anytime soon.

Riku let his hands fall to his sides as he lowered his gaze to the ground, following Lightning's suggestion as he approached the couch. He took a seat next to her, glancing at the television before finding something else to look at. In his nightmare, Ansem said something of Lightning's Darkness, and Riku couldn't shake that bit for some reason. It worried him.
Lightning may not have reached a conclusion about Riku being a flirt or not, but she knew where she stood: the care that she showed towards him was all real. And even if he was a flirt...She still liked him a lot. She glanced over at him, and seeing some hair that she could fix, she did. She lifted a hand and smoothed Riku's short silver hair three or four times before her hand returned to her lap. That was a little better.

Riku had blinked at the gesture, but he turned his head to look at Lightning when she was done. He smiled a little. "Thanks," he muttered. He probably had bad bedhead, not that he really checked. It was too late to feel embarrassed; besides, he was comfortable with himself and his looks, the latter being what attracted people most. He had a feeling he would get compliments even with messy hair.
"Hm," Lightning hummed with a small nod and smaller smile, the girl turning her gaze back to the television after a second. She figured she would give him some privacy and some time to sort out his nightmare. Maybe he had come out here to the TV to do that though. What if she was in the way? Should she have asked if he wanted to be alone?

Riku kept his eyes on Lightning even if she looked away, his nightmare triggering new worries. What if his dream was a lot like a premonition? What if Lightning's Darkness could be used against her...and him? His eyebrows furrowed slightly as he studied her, using his senses to try and catch any hint of her Darkness. It was there, he could feel it. He just needed to know how strong it was.
Lightning sensed Riku's stare on her--it was kind of hard not to with how intense it was. Because of that intensity, she didn't really want to look over and meet his eyes. Something just told her to keep looking at the TV, and that was what she did while her thoughts were on Riku. What is it? Why are you staring at me like that?

Riku looked away after a moment, lifting a hand and running it over his face. Stop it, he told himself. He couldn't actually listen to a dream like that. It was a dream, and only that. Nothing would become of it, he was sure. Besides, it wasn't like Lightning had too much Darkness anyway; he couldn't recognize very much of it.
