Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Roxas glanced back at Namine briefly. Relax, he silently told her. It's a bluff. He wouldn't really beat them up with the Keyblade. He looked back at Mitchel, who was taking a small step back. "What's wrong?" he asked with an arched brow. "You were content to call me Keyblader all night. I guess you still forgot who you were dealing with." Mitchel should have known not to tick off a Keyblade wielder.

Namine looked past Roxas to the boys, who clearly were interpreting Roxas's words. They acted all high and mighty until they dealt with the real deal. Nobody had ever been stronger than them, but now Roxas was, as long as he had the Keyblade. As far as Namine was concerned, that would be for a very long time. Nobody could be stronger than him, Sora, or Riku. At least, not in Namine's eyes; they conquered so much, so how could anyone measure up? Namine kept her spot near the door, moving her gaze to Roxas's back as she stood in silence, waiting for the boys' responses.
Roxas matched Mitchel's stare, watching him for a long time without backing down. Eventually it was Mitchel who had to give in. He muttered something incoherent before starting down the hall, towards another room that didn't have windows. Roxas supposed that the guys were going to go in and pass out from the booze. Good riddance. It was about time they did something smarter than threaten him. He kept his arm extended until all the guys were a few feet away and following Mitchel; it was then that he lowered his arm. But his Keyblade remained in his hand, just because.

Namine looked after the boys as they left, but then she opened the door to the room, peeking her head in. The girls were huddled on the floor, some talking, some sleeping. It was pretty late, after all, but Namine wasn't exactly tired. She was just cold, and she was sure that would keep her awake anyway. Namine shut the door quietly and turned back to Roxas, wondering why he still held the Keyblade.
Roxas looked down at the weapon in his hand, trying to consider what to do next. "Why don't you go inside?" he suggested softly. "It's probably warmer." But no matter how warm the room was, he wouldn't be in it. He'd be right here until a rescue team of some sort got them out. He was on guard duty--he was the only one who could be.

Namine shook her head softly at the suggestion. "If you don't mind, I'd rather stay with you," she requested. Roxas was her only friend, at least on this side of the school. All of her friends from the Art Wing had gone home a long time ago. She didn't know the girls in the room behind her that well; she was more comfortable with Roxas.
Roxas looked over at Namine, his eyes repeating the same verbal message he gave a minute ago. It'd be warmer in the room. The body heat of all the girls would be more comfortable than this. But he was sure she heard him the first time, so he wouldn't repeat it. As long as she understood that it would be uncomfortable out here, he didn't mind her staying.

Namine recognized the look Roxas was giving her, and she stood her ground, gazing back at him. I'd like to stay out here, she silently told him. She was...comfortable with him. A lot more comfortable than she would have been, at least mentally, in the room with the other girls. Namine didn't exactly make friends easily, not after what the Organization did to her. She was scarred from that, so her friends now were her only friends, no one else.

Roxas nodded faintly after a few moments, lowering himself down to the ground so he was sitting and leaning against a wall. "Okay," he said, setting his Keyblade across his knees. "But if the guys come back, I want you to go inside." There was no telling what would happen in that case. If the guys were stupid enough to come back, they'd probably do more stupid things.

"Mm," Namine hummed with a small nod. She followed Roxas's lead and sat down as well, though she still kept her place in front of the door. It was quiet in the room behind her, so she assumed the girls were asleep. She drew her legs up and wrapped her arms around them, looking out the nearby window. The snow was falling slowly, but it must have been thick to block them in like this. She bet Sora was going crazy over the amount they got this year.
Roxas pulled out his cell phone and checked the time. A little past two o'clock. They'd definitely be here a few more hours. He shut his eyes and leaned his head back against the wall, still holding onto Oathkeeper lightly. Maybe once the sun rose, it would melt enough snow that they could get out a window or something. One can only hope things would work out like that.

After a little while, Namine realized that the cold had kept her awake too long. Her body fought the urge to stay awake, and the girl instead started to doze off. Having been sitting relatively close to Roxas from the beginning, Namine now found her head against his shoulder as she went in and out of consciousness; she couldn't grasp that she was in this position. If she did, she would have moved away immediately. But she was just too tired...
Roxas kept his head lowered and eyes shut, mostly so that he wouldn't see his own breath. Mind over matter, right? If he believed he was in a warm and sunny place, then he'd feel warm. But he couldn't believe it, and didn't. He fought against his own shivering, managing to stay still even if he wasn't wearing his coat anymore. That item was now blanketing Namine. After a few hours, Roxas opened his eyes and saw that the sun was rising. "Just a little longer," he said softly to himself and to the sleeping girl beside him. Then they'd be out of here.

Namine clutched the coat that had been draped over her closer to her chest, her knees still drawn as she leaned against Roxas. His warmth was welcoming and comforting, and when she came out of her sleep a little, she snuggled closer to him, trying to get more warmth. She liked snow, but she hated the cold; that was why she liked the Islands so much. Besides, she had seen too much white in her past. Winter only reminded her of it.
Roxas hmphed softly in amusement, a weak smile presenting itself before he remembered why she was snuggling up to him. It was because of the cold. Yet she was still so cute when she did it. Even he had to admit that. He lifted an arm and wrapped it around her, hoping that it would keep her at least a little warmer. The Keyblade was long gone now, since none of the guys were idiotic enough to face him again. Apparently the threat sunk through the first time.

Namine released a small breath in contentment, feeling satisfied at the warmth she was suddenly surrounded with. She was comfortable, and if she realized it was Roxas making her that way, she would have been surprised. Who would expect him to treat her so delicately, especially after he made the point of wanting nothing to do with her romantically?
A few hours later, some of the guys wandered out of their room. They weren't drunk anymore; just hung over. They were definitely ready to leave this place, and so was Roxas. He pulled back his arm from around Namine and gently stood up, locking the door with the other girls inside before he started walking away. It was time to find an exit. Hopefully the sun melted some of the snow away so that they could at least open a window.

Namine woke up slightly when Roxas moved, but after that, she dozed off again. It didn't take long for the sun shining through the windows to wake her, though. The girl squinted and rubbed her eyes, but that was when she noticed the jacket over her. Whose was it? She turned her head, but no one was around; nobody she knew anyway. Where had Roxas gone?
Roxas was just down the hall, at one of the windows the sun was hitting the most. He believed that he could open it...He pressed his hands against the ice cold window and was only able to push it up because of his training in the past and the muscles that he maintained from that. The air that hit him was extremely frigid, especially without his coat on. He shivered but summoned his Keyblade to his hand. If he could melt some of the snow with fire spells, everyone could crawl out of here.

Namine turned her head, looking in one direction and noticing a bunch of people walking around. In the other direction, she saw her friend. Roxas was standing near a window with his Keyblade, looking like he had a plan. But...he also looked cold. His jacket was gone. That was when Namine looked down at her lap. Roxas's jacket? she thought, blinking in realization. Why did he give it to her? He needed it, obviously. But...she appreciated the gesture.
Fire, Roxas called silently, pointing his Keyblade at the snow. A fireball came out the tip and melted through a few feet of snow--enough for them to at least crawl out. Getting home was going to be another problem, but at least they could get out of the building now. He started back towards the girls' room, seeing that Namine was awake now. That was good, because she'd need to be awake to walk home.

Namine pushed herself up from the floor when Roxas started over, grabbing his jacket. He was sweet for what he did, but she could tell he was cold; she wouldn't let him suffer for her sake. "Here," she said, once he was closer. He would need this, especially if he was thinking what she thought he was thinking: escaping.
Roxas almost forced Namine to keep the coat, but he knew he'd need it since they'd have to crawl out the window. "Thanks," he said with a small nod. He didn't even need to unlock the room that the girls were in, because one of the girls opened it from the inside. All of the girls were standing in there, looking at him hopefully. "Let's go home," he said, jerking his head towards the window. When he did the motion, he also saw all the guys standing further down the hall. They'd come too, obviously. Nobody was going to be trapped in here anymore.

Namine watched as the girls passed her and made their way down the hall, toward their new escape route. She smiled softly, looking up at the boy who stood in front of her. "Good job, hero," she complimented with a small nod. He did it. She patted him on the arm as she stepped past him, going down the hall as well. Roxas got them out, and now they could go home.
Roxas was surprised that Namine pat his arm, but he didn't respond to it. Once everyone was outside, he saw just how awful the snowfall was. It was at least four feet deep. He knew what he had to do, and despite not wanting to do it, he didn't back down. He walked a large group of people to each of their houses and melted snow by the doors so that they could get in. Hours later, he and Namine were arriving at her place. "Here we are," he said softly after he melted the snow away from the front of the apartment building. She was the last person that he had to escort, which was good, since he was exhausted from it all and having not slept last night.
