Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Namine looked from the newest puddle to her companion. "...Why don't you come inside?" she asked, holding her keys in her hands. It was the least she could do. She could make Roxas some hot chocolate and offer her bed for him to sleep in; she had gotten enough for now, even if it was only a few hours. He took care of her, and she wanted to return the favor, or at least try.
Roxas glanced back at the snow that he'd have to walk through to get home. It would take a while to reach his apartment, so he was willing to accept Namine's invitation. He just needed to sit down for a minute, then he'd be ready to make the trek to his house. He nodded faintly to her in silence, summoning away his Keyblade. It wouldn't be of any use to him now, especially since he just used the last of his magic.

Namine couldn't help but smile. She led the way through the building and up to her apartment. It wasn't luxurious like Riku's but it was enough for her, and that was all that mattered. She stepped inside, glancing back at Roxas briefly as she started to take off her coat. She would go ahead and start making his beverage; the poor guy had to be as cold as she was.
Roxas took his coat off, but only because he knew he'd get overheated if he kept it on. Namine was a kind person; she would insist that he stay until he was warmed up. Since she was so kind, hopefully she wouldn't mind that he just walked in and sat down on the couch. He couldn't help it, really. He was so weary and exhausted and cold, he just wanted to collapse.

"How's some hot chocolate sound?" Namine asked, glancing at Roxas as she headed toward the kitchen. It could be seen from the living room, practically attached. She could easily make some for him and herself, which would help warm them up a bit. Of course, just being inside a heating building did that.
"Sounds good," Roxas murmured, shutting his eyes and leaning his head back against the sofa. And it did sound good, except for the feeling he had in his gut. He was going to fall asleep; he realized that now that he was sitting and in a warmer environment. He didn't want to sleep necessarily, not on Namine's couch, but that was what he found himself doing within the same minute he sat down.

Namine busied herself in the kitchen as she made the hot chocolate, but she noticed that the television hadn't been turned on, and Roxas was incredibly quiet. She glanced into the living room and saw that he was already asleep. She smiled a little and shook her head, leaving the hot chocolate to cool as she approached the couch. She grabbed the blanket draped over one arm and spread it over her friend. He did a lot of work last night, so he deserved some rest. She would make him another hot chocolate later.

That same day

Lightning awoke on the couch, the same place that she fell asleep last night. She was half surprised that Riku didn't carry her back to her bed like he did before, but she was more surprised at how cold she felt. Glancing down, she was still wearing her coat, boots, ane other clothes from yesterday. Why did she feel so cold? No, on second thought, she was hot. So hot that she was burning up. But she felt like she couldn't move, so she stayed on her side facing the back of the couch, eyebrows furrowed over her shut eyes. Why did she feel so awful?

Riku walked out of his room in lounge pants, deciding that putting a shirt on was pointless; he was cold one second and hot the next. He would prefer to be cold than hot. He shook his head when he felt a tickle in his nose, and as he stepped into the living room, he squeezed his eyes shut as he sneezed. He blinked once it was done, sniffling as he ruffled his hair. Well, I feel like crap, he thought. Maybe staying out last night had been a bad idea.
You're sick, Lightning declared to herself. Sick as a dog. She felt her nose running but didn't move to stop it. She curled up a little more and continued facing the back of the couch. Maybe if she just went back to sleep, she'd start to feel better. Feeling this lousy almost made her regret staying out last night. Almost.

Riku glanced at Lightning as he passed her, unable to tell if she was awake or not. He decided to just leave her be, making his way toward the kitchen to cook some breakfast and make some coffee. He needed something warm, since he was so cold. Of course, that wouldn't last long. But...would Light be sick too? He certainly hoped not; he would feel guilty if that were the case. It was his fault they stayed out so late, after all.
After a few moments, Lightning shed her coat and her shoes. Then she was cold and covered herself up with the coat. A flash of heat made her want to shrug the coat off, but she kept it on knowing that she'd be cold again a few moments later. She sneezed into the back of the couch, peeking her eyes open. Ugh. This stinks.

Riku heard that sneeze and turned his head, looking toward the living room. Well, there was his answer. "Light," he called softly. He made some warm oatmeal and coffee. If she wanted some, she was welcome to join him. He knew they weren't on great terms right now; she hadn't completely forgiven him yet. Regardless, he realized that she needed some nurturing since she was clearly sick too.
Light rolled over on the couch to look at Riku, her eyes moist because of the cold. She wasn't sure why he called her name though, since she hadn't been watching what he was doing in the kitchen. Instead of speaking, she just let her eyes rest on him.

Riku turned to look at the girl, his tired eyes resting on her. "You sick?" he asked softly. She looked like it, honestly. Lightning appeared to be miserable, and he was sure she was probably feeling the same. His immune system was in top form, but apparently something sneaked up on him last night; he was sneezing and coughing ever since he woke up.
Light nodded faintly, her cheek against the couch cushion. But looking at Riku now, she could see he didn't look well either. He looked drained. "You?" she asked softly, her voice a little hoarse. Riku definitely looked sick. It seemed like both of them were going to be stuck inside for the day with these colds.

Riku lifted a hand, messing up his hair as he ruffled it. He didn't like to admit it, but he nodded anyway. He hardly ever got sick, so this downright sucked. He would be in a bitter mood about it all day because of it, but there wasn't much he could do about it but take medicine and rest.

Again, Lightning nodded faintly against the couch. Then they were both sick. "Then we won't be facing the press today," she said softly. They'd both be stuck inside, being miserable and sneezing and coughing on everything they could. It wasn't going to be a fun day.

"I consider that a blessing," Riku said, turning to pour himself some coffee. It wouldn't be the best for him, but it was warm. That was all he cared about. He busied himself with the task, adding cream and sugar as he usually did. "Oatmeal's in here if you want some." He would eat some, but not a lot. He really just wanted to rest, since he felt so gross.
Lightning nodded faintly. She wasn't hungry, but she knew that she should eat. She slowly picked herself up off the couch and allowed her coat to fall off her and onto the furniture. Her feet started carrying her to the kitchen, but she stopped when she got a glimpse of the window. It was white outside. Almost blindingly white. She looked outside dumbly, head tilting faintly to the side. She never saw snow before.

Riku was already at the table, sipping on his coffee. When he saw Lightning's look, he couldn't help but smile softly. She was actually...cute when she was confused like that, and had just gotten out of bed. "Six feet," he said of the snow. "It's the most we've ever had." Sora would probably want to go out in it, but Riku wouldn't be joining him. Not today.
Lightning looked over at Riku, seeing and hearing how casually he talked about this. She didn't want to come across as an idiot, but... "What is it?" she asked, gazing out the window again. Back in Bodhum, this never happened. And since it only started happening here a few years ago, there wasn't widespread knowledge of what snow was.

Riku lowered his coffee, lifting an eyebrow. "You don't know what snow looks like?" he asked softly, unable to believe what he was hearing. Obviously Lightning had never seen snow before, but she had to at least known what it looked like from pictures or movies. Clearly he was wrong.
Light shook her head softly, still looking out the window. So, this was called snow. Instantly she thought of the annoying kid in her grade at school named Snow, but she knew that the snow outside wasn't named after him. Snow though...Her eyes shone with curiosity and innocence, as they often did when she was shown something new.

Riku studied Lightning, but after a moment, he gave her privacy and returned to his meal. "We'll go out in it tomorrow," he said softly. Today, they would be resting, since both of them were sick. At least he knew why it was so cold the night before.
