Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Lightning glanced over at Riku and nodded faintly. She felt shy though, since it wasn't often that she was so clueless about something. When she went over to the table with him with a bowl of oatmeal she got herself, she kept her head down instead of meeting his eyes. This was a bit embarrassing.

Riku continued to eat, though he did glance up at Lightning every once in a while. He knew that Sora would love to show her the snow when he got the chance, but Riku found himself wanting to be the one to do that. Why wouldn't he? Lightning was special to him, and so it made him feel he should. It also helped that he would like to. Lightning's face would be priceless.
Even if Riku was taking glimpses of Lightning while eating, she noticed that he finished with his food before she did. She couldn't even finish what she had in her bowl though, so she just stirred it around lightly with her spoon. What were they going to do today, other than lay around and be miserable together?

Riku picked himself up from the table and grabbed his bowl, though he lingered by Lightning's chair as he held out a hand for hers. "Done?" he asked softly. She hadn't eaten much, and hadn't taken a bite in the last few minutes. He suspected she was finished.
Light looked over and nodded faintly, setting her bowl in Riku's grasp. She knew that her gratitude was unspoken, but he probably could sense it. The girl picked herself up from the table and sat down on a side of the couch, using her coat to cover her torso because she didn't see any blankets nearby. She was so cold...

Riku washed out the dishes in silence for a few minutes, and once that was done, he turned up the thermostat for his apartment. He made sure to grab a blanket upon seeing Lightning's position as he went to the closet in the guest bedroom, and once he had one, he handed it to her as he sat down next to her. He figured they would rest here for a while, since there was nothing else they could do. Being miserable was their only choice.
Lightning let the coat drop to the ground as she lifted up her knees and hid them underneath the blanket that Riku brought her. She leaned her chin against her knees, but after a few seconds, it was her cheek that rested on them as she shifted her gaze to Riku. Obviously he was blaming himself for this, but she hadn't exactly encouraged them to come back early last night. Even if she had been angry at the start of the night, it had turned out really special...

Riku ran a finger under his nose when it tickled again, but once it went away, he looked over at Lightning. He felt her gaze on him before, but it was the way she was looking at him that had him confused, though he made sure not to show it. Why was she looking at him like that? He tilted his head slightly. "...What?" he asked, slightly amused. What was that look for?
Lightning shrugged casually, but she still gazed at Riku. He shared a lot of secrets with her last night in order to regain her trust. He succeed with that for the most part. The only thing she wouldn't trust him with for a while was girls. So what if they were only in a fake relationship? He still couldn't go off and kiss every girl on the islands. But looking at him now, she knew he wouldn't. He wouldn't hurt her like that again.

Riku smirked. "Flattering," he said, turning his head forward and leaning to grab the remote on the coffee table. Lightning didn't know what to think when she looked at him? That was how he interpreted that, but maybe that wasn't such a bad thing. Riku had been told many times before he was mysterious. It just came naturally.
Lightning rolled her eyes, briefly shifting her gaze to the TV before looking back at Riku. "The last thing you need is flattery," she stated. He already had a big ego, so no way was she going to help his ego increase in size. If anything, he really needed some humility. As if that was going to happen anytime soon. He was a guy after all.

"Is that so?" Riku asked, keeping his gaze forward for the moment. He thought back to the past few days, with dealing with the press and all the attention his "affair" had gotten him. He turned his head, looking to his "girlfriend" as he rested next to her. "You think I still need the humiliating pictures all over the internet and magazines?" He wasn't trying to be unfair, but it was an honest question. Was Lightning still mad at him for what he did?

A flicker of pain flashed through Lightning's eyes. She didn't want to be reminded of that. She set her chin on her knees again as she looked at the television instead of Riku. But to his question, she shook her head faintly. He was being harassed enough; he didn't need this to blow up bigger than it already was.

Riku returned his gaze to the television as well, allowing the silence to fall between him and Lightning. His thoughts drifted to the most recent topic, practically seeing the picture of him and Ashe right in front of him. And then he remembered the pictures of him walking along the streets, his miserable expression clearly obvious, even behind his sunglasses. The paparazzi wasn't going easy on him, but he supposed today they would have to take a break.
Lightning sniffled, not because of the topic but because of her cold. She didn't get sick often, but apparently being out in the cold for too long caused her to catch this bug. All that she wanted was for it to be gone. She wasn't sure what she was so anxious to be doing, but sitting her on the couch and being sick wasn't something she wanted to do.

Riku stared at the television for a while, but his sleep hadn't been the best the night before. It didn't help that nothing interesting was on. Eventually he started to fall asleep, his chin tucked to his chest as he dozed off. Hopefully sleeping would get this cold out of his system.
Time was a strange thing. Lightning felt so certain that time was flying by, but whenever she looked at the clock, she was proven wrong. Eventually, she switched to a new position in hopes that she could fall asleep and time actually would fly by. For some reason, laying her head on Riku's lap seemed like a good idea, considering that there weren't pillows on the couch. So that was where she was for a whlie, her warm cheek against his sweatpants as they both slept.

Riku wasn't sure when exactly he moved, but when he woke up in the middle of his sleep, he was behind Lightning on the couch. He vaguely remembered her resting her head on his lap before, but that wasn't comfortable for him, so he moved. His arms were around her as he rested against the back of the couch, but he knew she was close to the edge. Not wanting her to fall off, and too out of it to completely realize what he was doing, Riku pulled Lightning carefully up to his chest to rest on top of him, ensuring her safety. Once it was done, his consciousness gave out on him, and he drifted back to sleep.
Lightning experienced a similar experience to Riku. She woke up faintly when he moved her both times--when he first wrapped his arms around her and laid behind her and when he rolled so that he was on his back and she was atop him. She slept dreamlessly as her head laid on his chest, breathing even as she started to regain her consciousness because of the television having loud noises. She was somewhat aware of the position in her haziness; it was hard not to be, considering how warm she was in his arms.

Riku had his face turned towards the couch, breathing evenly as he slept. A tickle in his throat brought him out of it slightly, the young man coughing quietly a few times before settling down. His arms remained around Lightning, his hands resting on her back. The blanket was still over her, which in turn meant it was over him, so they were pretty warm. Good thing too, since Riku had been cold beforehand.
Lightning's fevered cheeks were red at all the warmth, and she moved a hand carefully to take the blanket away. She realized that she could do it, too, because Riku's arms weren't around both the blanket and her--just her. Wait...Riku's arms are...And where am...I? She peeked open her eyes at Riku's coughing and her own questions, quickly realizing that she was lying on top of him in a way that was far more intimate than when she accidentally landed on him in the gym.

Riku ignored the slight movement, not really comprehending it in his sleep. Rest was all he wanted, since he felt so awful. It made him feel worse though, that Lightning was sick too. He wondered how she was feeling, but he was too tired to find out. If she needed something, he knew she would ask. This was her home now.
If Lightning's cheeks could have turned any more red, they would have. She was on top of Riku as he slept. He was holding her to him as she slept. She shouldn't have been accepting this so easily when he broke her trust with Ashe before! And she shouldn't have been accepting it at all because this was a whole new level of intimacy. ...But she didn't care about that logic right now. She nestled her cheek against Riku's chest and shut her eyes, feeling warm inside and out.

Riku hummed softly at the warmth against his chest, one of his hands moving along Lightning's back to rest a little higher. But that was when he realized that it was her back his hand was resting on. His eyebrows furrowed a little as he turned his head, seeing pink hair as soon as he opened his eyes. Lightning?
Lightning kept her eyes shut, though Riku's smallest motion nearly gave her chills. Stop it, she scolded herself. You're such a sap. What even happened to you to make you like this? There was so much hurt lately that now she was a softy. But was that good or bad? Was she okay with this change? ...Was she okay with Riku having put her in this position?
