Rude Awakening (1x1 with Peanut)

Posted

As some of you may know, Peanut and I are crazy about Roleplaying, and it's clear, since this is the second one on this site that belongs to us. And we aren't even done with the first one! Regardless, that won't stop us from starting this new roleplay, Rude Awakening!

Kinda dark and mysterious title, eh?

As stated in the title, this RP is one on one, no exceptions. Please refrain from posting in the RP. Instead, follow us on this new journey!

Peanut, my amazing friend, let's begin!

Sora grunted, his back hitting the wall loudly because of the shove. "Well excuse me for seeing you treat her the same way you treated other girls and assuming the worst," he scoffed once he recovered from his surprise. The fact that Riku pushed him was surprising, but his denials were even worse. It was obvious what was going on here. He lusted after other girls and now he was lusting for Lightning. She didn't deserve that kind of attention.

Riku jabbed a finger in Sora's direction. "Don't come in here uninvited and disrespect me like you have the right," he hissed. "If you want to come in here and be my friend, fine. But if you have any other ideas, you can get out." And he meant it. The fact that Sora was insulting him was hurtful. Especially when he wasn't doing what Sora thought he was.

"I'm your friend, but I'm hers too," Sora said, pointing his finger at the girl who was facing away from him and Riku. "After what happened with Ashe, I think I have a right to be a little suspicious and over protective." After all, she clearly couldn't defend herself right now when she was sick and in a deep enough sleep that she wasn't waking up to this.

Riku lowered his hand back to his side, instead curling it into a fist. "So that's what you came over here for," he said lowly. "To scold me? You can keep that to yourself, and tell Kairi the same. I've gotten enough from the press." He glared at Sora, unable to believe that his friend was over here just to do that...and to check on Lightning. As if she wasn't safe!
Sora sighed, realizing that Riku had a point. He didn't come here to scold his friend. "I came here to get warmed up from clearing the snow," he revealed more calmly. "And I wanted to talk to you about the whole thing that happened. You haven't tried to tell us, after all." Riku should have told them what was going on, but he shut them out.

Riku definitely didn't want to talk about this, any of it. He lowered his head, staring at the ground for a minute before he looked back at Lightning. "I need to get her some medicine," he told his friend lowly. "Stay with her for me." He could wake her up too, since Riku would need to give her the medicine soon anyway. The oldest of the three started out of the room, running a hand over his disheveled hair as he left through the doorway. This visit already sucked...
"Riku..." Sora started, though his friend already walked out the door. He ran a hand through his hair, sighing. He didn't want to be Riku's babysitter here. He just wanted to know what was going on with his friend. Why did he give Sora and Kairi the impression that Lightning was special to him and then go off kissing another girl? He just wanted to understand what was happening...

Riku heard Sora, but he kept walking. He hated the fact that he was dodging the situation, but Lightning came first. He knew that even if they weren't actually in a relationship. He walked into his kitchen and went to the medicine cabinet, knowing that he could make Lightning some tea as well. It would be better for her than cold water.
Sora waited for a few minutes, gathering his thoughts and regaining his cool. Not in a literal sense--the air in the apartment was nice and warm compared to the air outside. But it was also thick with tension. When Riku reentered the room, Sora stopped him before he could go to Lightning. "Just talk to me and I'll get out of your hair, alright?" he requested quietly. He'd leave and let Riku take care of Lightning, if Riku actually was looking out for her best interest.

Riku held a mug of tea in his hand, some medicine in the other. He sighed when Sora stopped him, looking over to the side. "What?" he asked lowly, aggravated. Was Sora just going to yell at him for what he walked in on? It was accidental, and Riku would explain that if Sora didn't just jump to conclusions. But he had to have that chance first.
Sora arched a brow at Riku's angry tone. How didn't he get it? "Tell me what's going on and I'll get out," he repeated. "You can take care of her and I won't babysit." And he wouldn't scold either, if Riku gave him a reasonable excuse for why he went and kissed Ashe and didn't tell any of them about it.

Riku lifted an eyebrow at the last bit. Babysit? Riku wasn't asking Sora to babysit, but... "Fine," he said. He turned, starting out of the room again. "C'mon." He didn't want to talk about it around Lightning, especially if she was still sleeping.
Sora followed Riku out, softly shutting the door so that Lightning could sleep in peace for a little while. She deserved to get some more rest, after all the trouble that followed her since she moved here. Sora just hoped that Riku wasn't adding to that trouble. He sat down on the couch, waiting to hear his friend's explanations.

Riku set the medicine and mug down, sitting next to Sora. He ignored the television and focused on the topic at hand, though he didn't look at Sora. "...How much do you already know?" he asked lowly. That way he would know where to start.
Sora shrugged casually. "That you kissed Ashe after starting the relationship and didn't tell anyone about it." Not even Sora knew about it until the press brought it up, and obviously Lightning didn't either. He looked over at Riku, eyes sad. Why didn't you tell me? They were best friends...

"...I thought if I kept quiet, it would go away," Riku admitted softly. He looked over at Sora, but once he saw the expression his friend wore, he looked away. He didn't want to tell anyone about kissing Ashe, because it wasn't one of his proudest moments. He felt extremely guilty about it, ashamed. His friends weren't helping the situation at all.
Sora nodded faintly, keeping his gaze on Riku even if he looked away. So if he thought it would go away, that meant he wasn't proud of it. "Why'd you do it?" he asked quietly. If Riku was ashamed that he kissed Ashe, then why did he do it in the first place? Was it just his impulsiveness with old flames that got him into this mess?

Riku shrugged, keeping his eyes on the floor. "I don't know..." he admitted quietly. "She was just there, and one thing led to another. She paid for dinner and we said goodbye, but...she kissed me. I wasn't expecting it at all." It didn't mean anything, but according to everyone else it did. It meant the world to people who actually cared about the story.
Again, Sora nodded softly. He couldn't really understand the situation, because he never had eyes for anyone but Kairi. But Riku was different. He was searching for somebody but didn't even realize it until he found Lightning and something clicked. That was what it was, wasn't it? She really was different...

"Someone caught it in the restaurant, obviously, but the moment they took the picture makes it look like more than it was," Riku said, sighing. He lifted his hands and threaded his fingers in his hair. "Sora...I felt awful. As soon as it happened I wanted nothing more than to be with Light. I wanted to tell her, I really did...but I didn't know how. When I finally got the strength to tell her, it was already viral." He screwed up...badly.
Sora hummed softly, just listening. He could tell that Riku was distraught; it was very rare that his friend showed that emotion, and when he did, that meant he was really feeling it. The way that he was talking--the way he was acting, Sora knew that this was the truth. "You really do care about her, huh?" he asked quietly, though he knew the answer.

Riku nodded a little, lowering one of his hands and letting the other mess up his hair again. "Yeah," he answered verbally. He did care, a lot. Why else would he get so defensive when it came to "taking advantage" of Lightning, or even what the press said about her? He was overprotective too, just like Sora.
Sora nodded faintly, looking at Riku for a moment before he rose to his feet. "Then I'll go so you can take care of her," he said quietly, satisfied with Riku's explanation. Riku was just holding her like that earlier because he cared about her. Sora thought it was because he wanted Lightning's sickness to melt into him to take away her pain; that was how Sora often felt when he held Kairi. It looked like it actually worked for Riku; he didn't look so hot.

Riku looked over at Sora then, a plea in his eyes. "Don't tell Kairi you thought I was taking advantage of her," he said, referring to Lightning. Kairi would kill him at even the thought, which Riku would never do. The fact that Sora thought that was painful.
"Got it," Sora said with a reassuring nod. "...But Riku, you need to talk to her sometime." She was waiting for him to explain everything, even if she wasn't calling and leaving pestering messages on his phone about it. Kairi was just as concerned for their friend as Sora had been when he showed up earlier.
