7 of the strong beings on Earth once guarded the 7 great doors of light during the war between Light and Darkness. Because of these 7 great doors of light, darkness's defeat was sure. But then a man ,who calls himself Lord Asakura, took on the 7 great lightbearers. Using his sythe called Soulweaver, he defeated the 7 one by one and carved the souls out of the 7. The 7 great lightbearers somehow knew that this would happen so at their moment of death, they closed the doors of light and scattered their greatest weapon to those with pure hearts. This great weapon is called the Spirit Key. They hoped that these new 7 lightbearers would become the ace cards of light. Lord Asakura kept the souls to find a way of destroying the doors of light for good, but just to be on the safe side, he gave each soul to one of his 7 greatest followers. They are a group of asceneded Forgotten called the Temptations. 17 years passed since then and the war still rages on. At academies, teachers are training students to combat darkness and use magic. Every year, there would be a worldwide test of skill called the Rite of Passage. If a student should pass all three parts, they would graduate.
Let me explain everything from the beginning if you are confused

It is said that the Dawnblade's only power is to turn Darkness into a star in the sky that generates light. I can also open small doors of light to either amplify their Dawnblade, or to combat Darkness. It is very rare for someone to have two Dawnblades unless someone transfers their Dawnblade to you when their near-death. Even then, however, the relationship between you and that someone must be really close for the Dawnblade to transfer.
-During the Rite of Passage, Dawnblade users (Also called bladers) would be tested. This is called the Dawn of Kings Exam. This showed the relationship between the blader and the Dawnblade. If this test is passed, then the user would become a Dawnblade master. As a student, however, no one has passed this test as of yet.

-Shadows are cast when the sun beams down on you, you may say. Shadows actually are made out of the darkness in your heart. When a shadow gets big enough or strong enough, it will try to take over it's owner. If the owner is cosumed or devoured, he becomes a Soulless. Soulless are mindless monsters who try to eat other souls to become strong.
-When a shadow devours a strong owner, he/she becomes a forgotten. They are soulless who know speech, they are really strong, and they have semi-dominate control over an element. They can live friendly, or to kill. They live mainly to kill a being.
-An Absense is made when a Dawnblade weilder is devoured by a Soulless or Darkness, they become an Absense. They have a mind and know speech. However, they now are a different type of blader. They have one of the greatest darkness weapons, the Duskblade. The Absense got their name because of their immense power and their Absense of light, good, memory, etc. Absense are classified as the Knights of Darkness.
-The Duskblades purpose is to diminish all light in a heart and turn that individual into a soulless.
-The Temptations are the highest form of Darkness that exists. They're 7 of them that exist. Temptations are the 7 strongest forgotten each with one of the strongest powers of darkness in a beings heart. Greed, Lust, Anger, Gluttony, Sloth, Envy, and Pride. They use their powers to convert a lightbearers heart into darkness and eventually a Soulless.
