I get the feeling Xehanort has pulled a Garland...

Posted

I've been playing Dream Drop Distance and have completed Symphony of Sorcery with Riku and completed the Musketeer world with Sora. And I looked up some stuff earlier because I've had the game since it came out in Australia and haven't beaten it yet because stuff agitated me at times. Game still feels like Crapcom made it instead of Square at times. Anyway... I'll basically copy what I posted on my tumblr to save myself typing it all out. And honestly I don't care about spoilers, Kingdom Hearts canon is so convoluted at times that I just end up making my own head canon to understand stuff, and Dream Drop Distance has made me dislike Yen Sid because he's a firetrucking ass at times that makes me facepalm at his idiocy (I swear he's secretly the bad guy all along.

Essentially. This is how Kingdom Heart’s backstory went down for Xehanort.

Young Xehanort, who was probably a teen at the time, was visited by his Heartless from way into the future who then gave him the power of time travel to allow him to gather a total of 13 vessels for Master Xehanort’s heart.

He returns back to the Destiny Islands after completing his task and loses his memories of Time Travel but retains his want to explore the outside world, which then leads into Xehanort later becoming a Keyblade Master.

Essentially, Xehanort caused his own fall to darkness.

Because Young Xehanort and Master Xehanort are not two entirely different Xehanort’s from alternate timelines. They are the same person from the same timeline in two different points in time.

Not to mention, Young Xehanort is supposedly the penultimate final boss in Dream Drop Distance, Riku beats him and he is sent back into the past to the Destiny Islands.

Essentially… From before Birth By Sleep to Dream Drop Distance, there is a stable time loop that results in Xehanort being a complete and giant asshole. Therefore Xehanort is probably related to Garland at this point, only Xehanort doesn’t use demonic elemental fiends or turn into the god Chaos.

Yeah. This worries me because what effect might it have retroactively if that loop was broken, because it seems that Young Xehanort isn't from an alternate timeline, and I found out about the other stuff with Young Xehanort through khwiki (namely Future Xehanort sending Young Xehanort into the future and such).

Makes ya wonder what on earth Nomura is smoking at times.

Young Xehanort is an alternate Master Xehanort from before he left Destiny Islands. By bringing his past self into the present MX had not only found a way to ensure that all his twelve selves would gather before him, but that no matter what the events that followed his departure from Destiny Islands would happen. Essentially by corrupting his past self he manufactured his own destiny, this actually could lead to his downfall as one could alter any event in his life without breaking the rules of time travel.

I haven't played FF1 so I don't know much about Garland. On another note the KH canon really isn't that convoluted, it's actually pretty straight forward. Anyway the loop probably won't be broken and if it will be, it will be in KHIII so why worry about it now when you can just wait?

I was more referring to the fact that Xehanort caused a stable timeloop that led to his fall into darkness and his plan.

Also the logic of an 'alternate Xehanort' makes no sense because when they speak about Time Travel, at least from what Yen Sid has talked about, you have to have had a version of yourself in that time and location. Apparently in Kingdom Hearts, actual time travel is just travelling into your own past. Young Xehanort and Master Xehanort are from the same timeline, they're the same being just from different points in time.

For the 'alternate' stuff to occur... some serious plot holes would be caused because of what's been revealed so far.

@Winner's Proof: It's more overly complicated than convoluted. There is a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense. Like... how Merlin could use that Time Door to send Sora, Donald and Goofy into the ancient Disney Town when Sora hadn't even been born around that time (considering he's like 4 during Birth By Sleep), and had never been there before. That's a plot hole spanning 4 games given the new redefinition of time travel by Nomura. in the words of NTom. "Plot Holes About But No *CENSORED* Given"
