I said I'd talk about this, so I'm owning up. Whew, okay, here we go:
So, in the last Game Ideas thread, I mentioned a mechanic that should be taken into mind into a new Naruto game; that idea was how the roster should be organized as well as how their move-sets should be layered. (These two factors sort of go hand in hand, so that's why I'm talking about them at the same time.)
So here's the gist: in recent Naruto games (namely UNS2 and UNSG), we've seen characters getting different incarnations due to storylining, jutsus, costumes, and all that. (i.e. 3 different Narutos (RasenShuiken, Sage, and FKS) and 3 different Sasukes (Heibi/Kirin, Taka, and Susano'o) This is a bit much isn't it? I mean, we've seen the same problem occur in DragonBall Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, where we had 3 Z Gokus, 2 Piccolos, and 2 more Vegetas (one for Android Saga, the other for Buu Saga)...and when Raging Blast came out, they cut out the need for that by giving us the ability to customize our Super and Ultimate Attacks. THAT is genius, and should be implemented in this series.
Think about it: One Naruto, One Sasuke...we'll have all their power-ups and jutsus under one roof, and can customize them how we please...we could have Sasuke use the Susano'o in his Taka robe...Naruto using Sage Mode without the Sage cloak, like he does after the battle with Pain....also, Naruto could have the Sage Mode cloak on, and use the move he used in the Confining The Jinchuuriki Arc (Sage Art: Massive Rasengan Barrage) against Kurama. Eh? Cool, right?
This goes for all characters that are split up, not just Naruto and Sasuke...although I'm putting more emphasis on them because they have the worst case-in-point. lol.
Of course, we have characters like Kakashi, who was split up between his Part I and Part II incarnations in UNSG...we should be able to mix and match his moves, so maybe I could use Kamui as my Ultimate, but have Earth Style: Fang Pursuit Jutsu as my Primary...or maybe the Lightening Blade and the Twin Lightening Shiver together, just so I can have all Lightening Style attacks.
Also there's Minato, who is split between his Jonin and Hokage outfits...If you ask me, I wouldn't mind just having one Minato. I mean, their primary attacks are the same, but they do have different ultimate ..and the Jonin one's just a little bit more epic, so, uh, epic Hokage cloak + epic Ultimate = epic character. So yeah.
So to summarize: Put ALL the moves and put ALL the jutsus in one character slot. Simple? Yep.
So leave some thoughts and concerns, for anyone out there who care...there are few, I know, but still...
