If Kairi wasn't a Princess of Heart, who would you want to replace her?

I would replace Kairi with Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog". I think she'll give Sora (or whoever will rescue her) some attitude. Also, "The Princess and the Frog" would be a pretty cool world to visit too.

I'd rather have Rapunzel. ヽ(´ー`)┌

I don't think Kairi specifically being a princess is so crucial that it would hamper the story in such a way if she wasn't.

But if she wasn't a princess than Sora wouldn't be as close to her because her heart wouldn't've been need in KH1 and her importance would've been greatly reduced

The thing is, it's the PoH status itself that's important rather than Kairi herself as a character so it can go to anybody and not make much of a difference in the story. Sora and Kairi's relationship is also more for plot circumstances than anything, of which she can also be replaced or removed and not make much difference. Basically, Kairi needed the PoH status to be important to the story, but the story didn't need Kairi as a PoH.
