So... This will be my first story i've posted on here. Just a short story. I'm writing this as I go along (Typing I should say) so stick with me if I go to far into detail on some parts. Tell me what you think, I'd appreciate it.
A woman's scream echoed through the castle. The sound of unbearable agony made chills run down Sky's spine. It was followed by another noise, but this time it was not a scream for help; It was laughter. A man's laughter.
Laughter coming after such a horrible scream made Sky's face become hot with anger. Knowing who the man was made his rage grow even more. He had to keep his composure though. He knew any emotion clouding his thinking could get him killed. "There are worse things than death" he muttered to himself. Never-the-less, he had to stay alive. Not for himself, but for others.
Sky ran through the narrow corridor. The portraits of past kings and queens on either side of him were baring their painted eyes on him as he become closer to the door that when opened, would present to him his hardest challenge yet. "No time for fear" he thought to himself. "No time for fear".
He reached his destination, and with one final breath, drew his sword and flung the door open. It was not what he had expected. Nor did it make sense, but on the other side of the door, was a beach. Palm tree's swayed with a gentle breeze. Bird's chirped and eagerly went about their business. The ocean's calm tides brushed against the shore, wetting the sand with each lunge towards the land.
How was this possible? He looked behind him towards the door he had just burst through. He expected to see the outside of a castle, and that he must have went through a passageway he knew not of. What he saw instead was jaw dropping. There was no door. Instead, enormous snow covered mountains reigned above him. The peaks were not visible, as clouds blocked his view. Not only that, but it was snowing.
Sky gazed upon the snow covered plains that led to the mountains. Yet only a few feet away from the abundance of snow he was standing on sand, and could hear the ocean behind him and feel the heat of the sun upon his back. He reached his hand toward the falling snow, which seemed to be stopped by an invisible wall between the hot sand and the snowy plains. As his hand breached the gap in between the two areas, his fingers immediately started to feel cold. He could even feel the snow flakes falling upon his hand.
Sky pulled his hand back towards him quickly and rubbed some heat into his fingers. How did this happen? How did he get here? This was more breathtaking than anything he had ever even heard of, let alone witness with his own two eyes.
"Amazing isn't it?" said a voice from behind him. Sky swung around and found the source of the voice. A lone man stood on the shore.
It was him.
Sorry for the cliff hanger. I'll probably add to this in the future, I kind of like the way it turned out. I'll edit it eventually of course, but for now, what do you guys think? Tell me if you'd like to read more. Thanks for reading!
