So I have realized that my stories that my characters have dark pasts seem to get more hits and likes other then my other's for example.

My Batman Story, my character Abigail suffer's from the loss of her parents. She gets kidnapped by scarecrow and basically becomes a test. And Bruce save's her... bla bla bla! So yeah you get the point.

Also another example, My Kingdom Hearts story has been getting hits ever since Malificent took Neera into darkness with her. And suffers from the loss of her home worlds.

One last example, My spy story has to deal with my person Sylvia, she lost her parents when she was young, her brother goes missing after a while also, and she get's bullied. This is also another popular story of mine.

Okay so on with the question.(s) Why is this? I don't understand why the stories that I create that has Darkness around them are more popular. Is it because I'm better at writing darker stories? Or is it because that's how people like things?

I'm just really curious.

I think it's because people like to see struggle. Usually, the protagonist deals with these dark times and shows some way of getting out of it. This brings about development and shows how your characters handle certain events. People like seeing flawed characters recognize and deal with their flaws. And usually, this is done by making a character go through some sort of test, or deal with a darker background. I may be wrong, but that's how I see it.

That might be it, cause I like character's like Riku; because he fought and struggled his way through darkness and in the end he became a stronger person!

Basically like my characters, facing dark times in their past's and/or present, then coming out of it stronger.

This, really.

There can be other reasons, but this is a good factor.
