So I finished watching Black Butler today. It was a very very good anime...but it left me confused.

 

 

Did Ciel die?

It is unclear, because he did get shot, and then promised Sebastian that he would not die before he got to zero! and as soon as Sebastian got to one, Ciel fell of the bridge and landed.

The next time you see the boy, he is on a boat with Sebastian. It is unclear where they are going. You see all his memories in the water, and they end up at some place.

Ciel believes that he has died, however, Sebastian said that he was not dead yet. Thus, Ciel let's Sebastian eat his soul.

 

HOWEVER,

Sebastian's arm was cut off in Ash's and his fight, meaning...did Sebastian eat all of Ciel's soul? Is Ciel a demon? Is he still alive?

I have seen some things that have pointed out that Ciel did die, and others that prove he did not die.

I personally do not believe he died because there was a second season. The wiki also says that he is a demon in the anime.

I have not fully read the manga's...because they are all not sold at the only bookstore with manga's, and all the chapters have not been put on my website that I read manga's on....so I am clueless.

You'll find that out if/when you watch Black Butler II. It's just weird. Of course before the second series came out, there were numerous theories. But just that, theories - most of which were crushed at the realase of series two. If you want answers, I'd watch it.

 

The manga and anime are quite different, though they're both really good. But I would treat it separately, to be honest, since they have just great differences. What chapter are you on?

 

Honestly I wish Black Butler and Black Butler II were different animes altogether. I won't give out spoilers since you haven't seen it yet, but eh. Let's just leave it as...something that should have been different; In my opinion, anyways.

I havent got that far into the manga...at all.

I will also try to watch Kuroshitsuji II maybe in the summer, just because one of the animes I have been waiting for forever it seems is coming out next month and I am watching 2 animes right now, so it is kinda stretching it.

Oh, I see. Yeah the anime and manga are pretty different, as animes and their manga counterparts often are. I loved it though, just wait 'til you get to the Noah's Ark Circus arc. But yeah, if you'd asked this 5-or-so years ago I might have had my own theories, but ever since BB2 most the questions have been answered Have fun~
