Fullmetal Alchemist--New Age (1x1 with Neko-chan)

Posted

"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange."

It is the year 1935, 18 years after the events of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. A form of peace has fallen of Amestris now the Father and his Homunculi have fallen. After the death of Fuhrer Grumman, Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, took place as the now-current leader of Amestris.

Although peace has come for 18 years, trouble has begun once again in the area surrounding Ishval. A new group of people, bent on continuing the goals of Father, have formed and mark a new age of trouble and turmoil.

Within this are two rising star Alchemists, born in the East City, that have been tossed amongst the turmoil and fighting for humanities future. They, whether they wish so or not, are the only ones who can stop this and allow Amestris to become peaceful once again.

Name: Amelia Elric

Age: 16

Appearance:

IGNORE THE WINGS Posted Image

Personality: A little bit of a know-it-all, she is a bit of a brat due to the fact she is the great granddaughter of Edward Elric. She is a bit of a Tsundere and has a unique personality.

Short backstory: Granddaughter of Edward Elric, she tried Human Transmutation about five years ago and lost her left arm and right lung. This lead to some breathing problems and bad asthma. The reason why she tried Human Transmutation was because of her brothers death. After she did the Transmutation, her parents banished her. Amelia has known alchemy since she was 6 years old.

Preferred form of Alchemy: Construction Alchemy

Name: Evan Lackslaw

Age: Eighteen

Appearance:

Along with this, he has a small birthmark on his back that he never shows.

Personality: Evan is a bit of a joker. He's kind and brotherly, and treats Amelia as a cross between a younger sister and a close friend. He struggles with alchemy, but desires to master it, as his deceased father once did. At times he can be a bit too serious, and a bit too dark, but he covers it up with jokes and smiles.

Short backstory: Evan is an orphan. He was orphaned at the age of eleven when his mother passed away. His father, barely known to him, had died some time before he was born. He stayed in East City however, and at some point came across Amelia, who like him, had no one at all to call family. He was not aware of her transgressions, and didn't seem to care too much about her past. He stuck with her, picking up her love for Alchemy and began to practice his own. It had been years since they had first met, and now, Evan's next step to alchemical mastery is fast approaching.

Preferred form of Alchemy: Evan utilizes special dark gloves, marked with transmutation circles. His alchemy revolves around ice and water. He can manipulate water to his will, creating bombs with steam, ice out of water, and can even use his own blood as a weapon, if need be.

PWEASE MAKE THE FIRST POST

(AS YOU WISH.)

Evan flipped through a small pamphlet. It was a boring read, but it was the only thing to do on the train ride to Central City. He glanced at Amelia for a moment, studying the girl who was two years younger than he was. Even with that age gap, she had shown a mastery over alchemy that even Evan couldn't obtain. She was a miracle worker, for sure. He sighed and sat the pamphlet down.

"Who knew trains were so boring." He murmured, leaning his head back against the headrest of his seat, "We work up the cash for this...and what? Riding a boring metal carriage. Doesn't even go that fast."

Evan was clearly irritated. The constantly rocking on the train on the tracks had robbed him of any sleep, which left him tired and irritable.

"Oh stop complaining Evan, it's not that bad." Amelia tired cheering him up, smiling a bit at him.

"Would you rather have gone on foot?" She asked, cocking her head to the side with a smart-ass smile on her face.

"You'd probably be crying like a baby come to five minutes of walking." She was just smirking.

"I would not!" He protested, staring at her with an appalled expression, "If it were to be anyone, you'd be the one whining and complaining about it! We'd never get anywhere. Besides, at least when you're walking you're not being jostled about."

Evan sighed, giving one shake of his head. The arguments he and Amelia had were practically always petty and ridiculous, but that didn't stop them from arguing anyways. "At least we're almost there. I'd like to get off sooner or later.."

"Do you think you're gonna pass?" Amelia suddently asked, looking at Evan's gloves.

"I know I am!" She suddently boast, clapping her hands together.

As soon as she did that flowers appeared on Evan's lap.

"That's my good luck gift to you."

  • Author

"Eh..." Evan picked the flowers up, and looked them over. Amelia certainly had tricks up her sleeve, he could give her that. Likely she had some seeds snuck somewhere and merely used her alchemy to accelerate the growth process. Or maybe she truly was as magical as Evan could believe.

"Well, thank you. But I think I will. Not many use water alchemy anymore. Especially after that alchemist from a few years ago. From what I heard his alchemy was top-notch, but his actions threatened the whole country."

Evan tried to place the name of the State Alchemist, but it couldn't occur to him. That man was of course long since dead; having died before King Bradley had been dethroned.

Soon enough, Amelia and Evan arrived in Central. The two got off their train and she was ready to go.

"Let's get this overwith!" She exclaimed, smiling and looking at Evan.

  • Author

"Aren't we a little excited?" Evan pointed out, grinning and patting Amelia's head, "Alright, alright, let's go to Central Command or whatever it's called. I believe the exam's first part starts in a little over an hour, so we should have time."

Evan looked up into the skyline, seeing the towering fortress-castle hybrid that made up the center of the city, and the hub for all of Amestris' politics and military actions, "It's right over there, see?"

"Race ya." Amelia said, looking at Evan with a smile before suddently dashing off.

There were a lot of people in the streets so she had to be careful, and careful she was.

Amelia quickly moved her way through the crowds, looking behind her several times to make sure Evan was not behind her.

Even though she was racing, she still had to take it easy. She did only have one lung.

"Be careful!" Evan called after her. He gritted his teeth and ran far and fast enough to catch up with her--where he put a hand on her shoulder, while his face held a very serious look, "We both know that you can't run for very long. I don't want you over exerting yourself before we even get there. So take it easy, alright? As fun as it may seem, I don't want you doing anything that'll harm yourself."

If there was anything that Evan was, he was certainly a stand-in sibling for Amelia...though at times he was more like a protective father, but both worked nonetheless. He cared a lot about her, even though he barely knew what transgressions and sins she had committed long before they had met.

Amelia stopped as soon as she felt Evan put a hand on her shoulder, letting herself catch her breath she looked back at him.

"I guess you're right..." She said a bit disappointed, returning to walking speed.

"Sorry Evan." She said seriosuly, bowing to him.

After a couple of miunets walking, the two made it to their destination.

"Let's go."

"Indeed." Evan murmured, staring up at the tall stone brick walls. Central Command was built like an impenetrable fortress. The foundation rose to make the place higher than any building in the city, with even higher walls built to guard the buildings within. There was only one was inside--a sloped bridge that lead to the massive checkpoint gate. Tall watchtowers rose up on all four corners, keeping a vigilant guard in the event of invasion.

"I've heard about this place before." Evan muttered, "But I hadn't realize how....big it was. They really want to keep this place safe."

As the duo walked towards the bridge, Evan glanced at the green flags that fluttered in the winds. The flags held the iconic dragon-like lion symbol--the symbol of Amestris and its alchemists.

The two were stopped at the entry to the main building.

"What is your business here?" A man asked them.

"We are here to take the alchemy test!" Amelia said confidently.

"I will lead you guys there then."

Amelia and Evan were led towards a room where they would take their test.

They were lead through a maze and myriad of corridors and hallways that eventually ended in two large wooden doors. The soldier that had been accompanying them, wearing the typical blue of an army officer, halted and opened the door.

"You both must present yourselves before the examiners. They shall begin a brief medical examination before placing you both in a queue to begin the Alchemy Examination itself."

With that said and done, the soldier left to resume his post.

"Well," Evan said to Amelia, "You ready?"

'A medical examination? I'm doomed...' Amelia thought.

She slowly nodded, not really ready. If she failed the medical exam what would she do?

  • Author

"Oh, lighten up." Evan told her, patting her head, "I know it's a medical exam, but I'm sure its just to put stuff on file. I mean, I'm sure you can fake having a lung, right? You'll do this, don't worry." He smiled at her, hoping that could reassure her, and quickly entered the next room. It was a large, long hall with a desk placed half way through. Three men sat behind the desk. One of them, a massive broad-shouldered beast of a human, encompassed almost all of the table.

"Huh." Evan murmured, walking up to the desk.

"Name?" The man to the left of the larger man asked. Evan gave it, and began a small series of questions, before his hand was taken in by the larger Alchemist.

"Good to meet you!" The man bellowed, "I hope to see you pass with flying colors! Make this old man proud!"

Amelia sighed, slowly following behind Evan. She wait until the huge man finished his questions before she approached the man.

"U-Um nice to meet you sir!" She was obviously nervous.

  • Author

"Ah! Hello!" The man grinned, shoving his shoulders past the other two men to reach out and shake Amelia's hands, "You may know of me--I am Brigadier General Alexander Louis Armstrong, descendant of the Armstrong family!" He bellowed, shaking Amelia's hand (and almost snapping it in the process) before leaning back in his seat, "It pleases me to see so many youngsters taking up the helm of Alchemy! Pleasant indeed!"

"A-anyways," The man to his left began, "We just need you to sign on this sheet here...fill out some information, and we'll have someone usher you to the next room."

These people were kinda scary.

Amelia just quickly filled out all her information, her full name, date of birth, age, stuff you would put on a license.

"Thank you very much." She said, starting to walk away.

The next room was filled with white sheets that seemed to be containing the other applicants for the Exam. Amelia was almost immediately whisked away by a young, bright attendant before she could get a moment to think.

The medical examination, Evan felt, was rather short, though he didn't know how bad it went for Amelia--he simply hoped that she would make it out alright. He let out a soft sigh while he waited by the exit for her. Hopefully she wouldn't make too much of a fuss.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing!?" Amelia suddenly yelled.

She was whisked away like that.

"Unhand me!"

"Oh lord." Evan murmured. This was going to be a long day, he was sure of it. He could see that Amelia was having a bit of trouble, but eventually one of the doctors was able to get what he needed out of her before ushering her to leave.

"Looked like you were having some trouble." Evan told her, "But I assume everything went well, Lady Amelia?"

"I guess." Amelia said with a sigh, then glaring her eyes at Evan.

"What did you just call me." she insist to know...even though she knew what Evan said.

"Don't call me Lady Amelia. I am just Amelia." she snapped.
