Fullmetal Alchemist--New Age (1x1 with Neko-chan)

Posted

"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange."

It is the year 1935, 18 years after the events of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. A form of peace has fallen of Amestris now the Father and his Homunculi have fallen. After the death of Fuhrer Grumman, Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, took place as the now-current leader of Amestris.

Although peace has come for 18 years, trouble has begun once again in the area surrounding Ishval. A new group of people, bent on continuing the goals of Father, have formed and mark a new age of trouble and turmoil.

Within this are two rising star Alchemists, born in the East City, that have been tossed amongst the turmoil and fighting for humanities future. They, whether they wish so or not, are the only ones who can stop this and allow Amestris to become peaceful once again.

"As you wish, Mistress Amelia." He grinned, immediately letting out a laugh that followed it before shoving the exit door open, "Anywho~we've got an exam to take, don't we! This is something I'm certain you can handle. I've sen your alchemy first hand, and it's certainly something to fear!"

He patted Amelia on her head as he always did, before walking a little bit ahead of her, "Do you suppose the fuhrer will be there? I hear sometimes he presides over the exams."

"I hope. I heard that Great Grandfather was friends with the fuhrer's father!" Amelia exclaimed, spinning around.

"Hopefully you will pass, Evan." she said with a smile.

Amelia's alchemy was amazing, but hopefully her no-use-of-transmutation-circle wouldn't count off.

"Of course I will. No one's seen a freezing Alchemist in decades." He replied, smiling all the way to the doors they had been directed to. The exam would be held in an outside courtyard, one that was large enough to hold the up-and-coming Alchemists for their exam. The objective was to simply show off. Prove their Alchemy to the examiners and present themselves as the best their ways.Evan had no doubt in his mind that Amelia would pass. He was sure of it.

"Let's start this." Amelia said, rubbing her hands together and then making a clap, a stone fountain forming beside her.

It was fully functional and had water and everything.

"Well I'm going to have to do better than that." She sighed.

"Any recommendations, Evan?" She asked.

"We work together," Evan offered, "Show that if they want one of us, they'll need the other too."

With that, he slammed his palms together and shoved them outward so that the symbols on his palms faced the water in the fountain. The water was stricken by the blue bolts of the Alchemical reaction, and quivered before freezing up into the shape of a glorious phoenix made entirely out of ice.

"We just need to keep one-upping ourselves. Show that we work best as a team."

"Sweet." Amelia said with a smile, her hands clapping once more and stone being lift into the air to create a massive dragon.

She looked to Evan to make it an ice dragon, cause ice dragons are cool.

Ice dragons were indeed cool, and Evan got the hint as he clapped his hands together--the alchemical symbols interlacing and sparking outward as he lifted his palms up to the water. It cracked and froze, freezing into the shape of a majestic, powerful dragon. He grinned madly, sensing how the other exam takers had halted at the magnificent duo's work.

"Oh this'll be good for sure." Evan grinned at Amelia, "But of course, we can't do things for show. Gotta show that were fit for the military, you know?"

"Prove we are worthy?" Amelia asked, looking at her brother and smirking.

Her hands suddenly clapped, men of fire appearing around Evan and Amelia. There were six of them, three for each. The men were already starting to shoot fireballs at them.

Amelia kept up, managing to dodge.

"Let's go."

  • Author

"Oh, nice." Evan murmured, not what I had in mind, but this will work.

Evan turned around to see the entire group of fire men, and quickly slammed his hands together. The reaction caused an explosion of mist generated from the moisture in the air, and with another clap that mist froze before exploding--decimating the group of fire-based men almost immediately.

"Well that's not fair." Amelia sighed, seeing as all the fire men were destroyed by Evan.

She clapped her hands together once more, forming an army of stone birds. They were charging at the two already, Amelia starting to create sharp stones to impale the birds, them bursting into dust.

Eventually the stone birds were just dust on the ground.

"Please tell me that's good enough."

"I have no clue." Evan murmured in reply. He was already starting to take a look around; trying to see how much attention they had received. The entire clearing was silent. Some of the others had agape mouths, apparently surprised and shocked by what these two youngsters could pull off.

"If anything, we certainly got their attention." Evan then told Amelia, "I'll take that as a good thing."

"Well that was what we can do!" Amelia raised her voice, trying to get someone to speak.

Did they do something wrong?

"Do you think we did something wrong?" She whispered to Evan.

  • Author

"Maybe we did too much?" Evan murmured back to her. She was right, the silence was only continuing--and Evan was getting the same feeling Amelia had gotten. Maybe they did it too much? What if the military didn't like their strength and decided to 'make them disappear'?

Evan swallowed and stepped back, rubbing his gloved hands.

Amelia looked kinda sad. Maybe they didn't pass...

"We'll be going then..." Amelia muttered, obviously upset.

She grabbed Evan's hand and started slowly trudging towards the exit.

  • Author

"That won't be necessary."

The voice came from behind them. Stern and authoritative--the speaker was clearly a man who was used to giving orders and having them obeyed, "I will ask that both of you come with me."

Evan twirled around to face the speaker. His mouth and jaw went slack as his eyes went wide. It was none other than Roy Mustang, one of the most well-known leaders of Amestris. The Flame Alchemist, in the flesh.

"I'm quite piqued by the combined alchemy that you both wield. I won't order you -that won't come just yet- but I would ask that both of you join me for a moment."

"S-sir!" One of the nearby soldiers (who had been guarding the exam, just in case) piped up, "Are you...?"

"Of course I am." Mustang cut him off, "Now, let us go."

"As you wish, sir."

Mustang turned back to the duo, "Well...?"

"Uhm...sure!" Evan exclaimed, turning to Amelia and smiling, "Seems like we really did good..!"

"Yes sir!" Amelia said with a huge stupid grin on her face.

She saluted to Lord Mustang and began to follow him.

"Thank you very much Lord Mustang!" She was extremely happy.

Her great grandfather worked with Mustang before, and to see him in the flesh made Amelia feel honored.

Roy Mustang merely nodded and lead them away. Evan glanced back at the exam, which the other examiners were trying to get started again. It seemed the mood had fallen greatly now that, scarcely a few minutes in, two were taken away by the Mustang himself. Evan smirked and shook his head, those poor people probably wouldn't make it now that Evan and Amelia got it done so easily.

Mustang walked with a brisk pace; taking no breaks or slowing down, even for a man of his age. Evan kept stopping however. He wanted to get a proper look at the inside of Central Command. Not every civilian would ever get a chance like this. He'd realize he was lagging behind though and would quickly run to catch up with Amelia and Roy.

"We shall be going to the office." Mustang suddenly told them, glancing behind himself for just a quick moment before taking a turn. The office was the very headquarters of the Fuhrer--the place of highest authority. Evan blinked and glanced at Amelia. This was big.

"U-Um Lord Mustang, may I ask what we are doing?" Amelia asked. She was rather curious...However she was honored that Lord Mustang decided that Amelia and Evan were great alchemists

  • Author

"Well, you'll know in a few moments." He told her, as he pushed open a last set of doors. The three of them entered into the office itself--a wide room, decorated with Amestrian treasures and symbols. Towards the farthest end was a large wooden desk; the one reserved for the fuhrer himself.

"Now, I haven't seen that sort of alchemy in....a long while." Mustang told both Evan and Amelia, looking at them critically, "Amelia...was it? Where did you learn that work?"

Amelia suddenly looked down, her eyes saddened.

"I don't like to talk about it..." She muttered.

Amelia inched closer to Evan, almost hiding behind him.

Mustang raised a brow, turning fully around to face the both of them."I see, then...." He murmured, shaking his head for only a moment, "And what about you...Evan, was it?"

Evan straightened, realizing the spotlight had turned to him, "Uh...well, uh....you see--I sort of learned on my own. I wanted to do a form of alchemy no one really did anymore...so I studied the Freezing Alchemy."

Mustang's face seemed to harden. Few these days knew about the terrorist Issac the Freezer; an ex-State Alchemist bent on destroying the Central City. He almost did it too, before Mustang and Edward Elric stopped him.

"I see. Well, Amelia, Evan, I commend you for your alchemy...I've examined these trials for years. No one's shown an aptitude of this nature in a long time."

Edited by Silver Kuroi

"Well my great grandfather was Edward Elric so I guess my great alchemy just runs in the blood." Amelia said, smiling.

"I thank you for recognizing us." She was happy Mustang liked them.

  • Author

Mustang seemed to halt at that, "Edward Elric? You're...the granddaughter of the Fullmetal?" He seemed fairly surprised at this. The girl before him was the kin and descendant of the saviour of Amestris--the son of Van Hohenheim.

"I see, and that would explain all of this." Mustang nodded, and went over to the desk, "And you, Evan, are you descended from Edward? I take you both for siblings."

"No," Evan told him, "Just friends. My parents are gone."

"I see, well, the military will be your family now." Mustang suddenly told them, "Give me a few moments and I will have it written and two pocket watches inscribed. You both are set to becoming dogs of the military. I hope you're happy."

A dog off the military. A basic slave working to kill. Amelia wasn't too sure about this and ended up close to Evan again.

"I've been banished by my parents, so it's just me and Evan right now" She said rather softly.

  • Author

"Well, then all is good." Mustang didn't seem eager to speak about her past, and did not linger about her banishment what so ever. He went back to his desk and appeared to be retrieving two pieces of parchment, which he began to write upon. Upon finishing them, he rolled the parchments up and quickly sealed them with hot red ink. He turned around, and gave to Evan and Amelia the papers.

"Your royal signings, declaring you both Alchemists of Amestris. Amelia, you shall be here on out be known as the Pure Alchemist, for being related to Edward Elric, and being of the line of true Alchemy. Evan, you will be known as the Crystal Alchemist. I would say the Freezing...but that name is banned."
