Fullmetal Alchemist--New Age (1x1 with Neko-chan)

Posted

"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange."

It is the year 1935, 18 years after the events of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. A form of peace has fallen of Amestris now the Father and his Homunculi have fallen. After the death of Fuhrer Grumman, Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, took place as the now-current leader of Amestris.

Although peace has come for 18 years, trouble has begun once again in the area surrounding Ishval. A new group of people, bent on continuing the goals of Father, have formed and mark a new age of trouble and turmoil.

Within this are two rising star Alchemists, born in the East City, that have been tossed amongst the turmoil and fighting for humanities future. They, whether they wish so or not, are the only ones who can stop this and allow Amestris to become peaceful once again.

Amelia took the paper, smiling.

"Thank you very much, Lord Mustang." She said bowing.

The Pure and Crystal Alchemists. This was going to be an experience.

Mustang nodded, "I'll get a hotel arranged for the both of you, for the time being. I will have the pocket watches inscribed and ready by tomorrow, as this is such short notice--usually I do not go out of my way to personally speak with potential State Alchemists."

With that, he nodded one last time, "Thank you both."

Amelia smiled, bowing to Roy as they were both escored out of the building. They were state alchemists now.

"Yes!" Amelia said, smiling.

She hugged Evan.

"We did it!"

"Congrats." Evan told her, smiling while he gave her head a pat, "You did really well, Amelia. Quite proud of you. Why don't we go to this hotel Mustang got for us? Maybe we can explore the area for a little while. I'd like to see what our first missions are for tomorrow. Probably just paperwork, since we're new.."

"Sure!" Amelia said with a smile, staring to walk ahead.

Even though they were dogs of the military they would at least have a great time.

"Aww...paperwork is boring..." she complaint.

"I know, I know." Evan said to her, "I know it is. But hopefully we'll get something better than that. Something decent...oh, maybe we'll be sent to the north...or worse, sent to the West City where nothing ever happens." Evan sighed, as they walked out. They were given directions to the hotel--a fancy establishment, apparently, towards the higher-end of the Central City districts.

Evan and Amelia arrived in the hotel and checked into their room. It was a gorgeous place, and Amelia was really thankful to be there.

"Let's go exploring!" she earged Evan, jumping up and down on the bed.

"Fine, fine." Evan said, leading out and the two of them quickly left the hotel. Central was several times the size of East City. It was no surprise. Central was the capital, and the hub of practically all commerce in the country.

"So, where to? Anywhere special you've been dying to see?"

"The crater." Amelia said simply, looking straight at Evan.

"The one my great grandfather fought in!" She exclaimed.

She really did want to see the relic.

That crater.

A good portion of people knew of it. Less even knew of the Father. But nonetheless people knew the savior of Amestris fought in that crater to save all of the world. Evan quickly took Amelia to the site of the relic--a portion right outside of Central Command. It was now the site of a monument--a massive iron slab dictating the lives lost to the homunculi and the Father.

"Here it is."

Amelia's eyes looked down at the crater.

"If Edward would have died here, we may have not been born." She said, her eyes looking at Evan.

"Evan...I don't think I want to work for the military." She muttered.

"Well...I think it's late for that...but I suppose if you truly don't want to, we can deny the request to join. It's all up to us." Evan said, gently patting her shoulder, "So think on it, kay? Don't want little Amelia worrying about these sorts of things."

"I'm not little." Amelia pout.

She then held her left automail arm.

"The reason why I don't want to be apart of the military I'd because I don't want to kill people." She said seriously.

  • Author

"Well, if I remember correctly that was what Edward Elric had said. Though...I do think there were times where he had to. But he never did it at the request of the military. Those choices were his alone."Evan quietly put an arm around Amelia--a small comfort against the dark topic at hand, "I don't think you'll have to kill anyone. We can always leave and find our own way."

"That is true, but we are still helping people." Amelia said, her eyes looking back at the crater.

"I will accept the military." She said simply.

  • Author

"Good." Evan said with a smile, "I'm glad. Because sometimes you'll have to kill to help protect others. Something I read was about people who had to make great sacrifices to save great numbers of people."

Amelia looked back to Evan.

"Let's go back, it's already starting to get a little bit late." She said seriously, starting to walk back to the hotel.

  • Author

"As you wish."

They quietly returned to the hotel. It turned to night by the time they were there, and eventually the duo found themselves in their beds....and soon they were asleep as well. Evan yawned as he fell asleep. Tomorrow was the start of their live in the military. Hopefully, it would go well. But being a State Alchemist would never be easy...

"Oiii! Wake up Evan!" Amelia was sitting right on him.

"It's morning, we have to get to work!" She exclaimed.

Amelia was already dressed and ready to go.

  • Author

"Mmmh..." Evan grunted, rolling over. He had no plans on waking up. It was far too early in the morning to be doing any of this, so he didn't want to wake up unless he really had to. He then recalled that this was supposed to be the day they became full dogs of the military, and he bolted right up.

"Right. I'll be ready in a sec..."

"Okkaayy" Amelia said, smiling.

She got off of Evan and wait at the door for him. She wasn't really excited, but her and Evan at least had work.

  • Author

Evan finally got himself dressed and smiled as he walked up to Amelia, "Are you ready?"

"I am." Amelia said, looking at Evan.

The two exit the hotel and made it to Central Command rather quickly.

"We're here!" Amelia announced upon walking in the door.

They were eventually directed back to the Office again. Mustang was once again available to meet them, and he showed a hint of a smirk as he handed them their own watches. "Congratulations. You're now true dogs of the military. May you both serve Amestris well."

"So....what now?" Evan asked him.

"Your first assignment, of course."

"What will our job be today?" Amelia asked, looking at the beautiful silver watch in her hand.
