Fullmetal Alchemist--New Age (1x1 with Neko-chan)

Posted

"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange."

It is the year 1935, 18 years after the events of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. A form of peace has fallen of Amestris now the Father and his Homunculi have fallen. After the death of Fuhrer Grumman, Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, took place as the now-current leader of Amestris.

Although peace has come for 18 years, trouble has begun once again in the area surrounding Ishval. A new group of people, bent on continuing the goals of Father, have formed and mark a new age of trouble and turmoil.

Within this are two rising star Alchemists, born in the East City, that have been tossed amongst the turmoil and fighting for humanities future. They, whether they wish so or not, are the only ones who can stop this and allow Amestris to become peaceful once again.

"A job? Hm, I suppose a mission is more the applicable name. You'll be tasked with aiding in our efforts in Ishval. As unfortunate as it is, tensions in the region have risen due to another anti-establishment party that has taken root there. You will be meeting a...relative of mine. He will be aiding you in your first efforts." Mustang explain, lacing his hands together, "I trust you will accept?"

"I accept!" Amelia said, saluting to Mustang.

So they are going to Ishval? That's rather far, but it would be fun. Amelia and Evan have never seen Ishval.

"Excellent." Mustang nodded to them, "You will be escorted to the military train. It will be taking you straight to Ishval, so I hope you both are ready. The military life is not an easy thing, especially for children. Let's hope you've inherited Edward's resolve, Amelia."

Mustang gave her a critical eye, even though he was known to be blind, before walking away. Evan wondered if Mustang had some other sense, giving him the ability to sense things without truly seeing them.

The train ride was almost the same as the one that had taken them to Central...except this was even longer. Ishval was a greater distance than East and Central City were.

Amelia was sitting quietly, looking out the window.

"This train ride is sooooooooooooo looonnngggg..." she complained, stretching some.

"When do you think we will get there?" She asked Evan.

  • Author

"A while." Evan told her as he leaned his head back, "The ride's twice as long as it was to Central. So get some shut eye. I have a feeling this won't be the best of missions at all."

"Aww..okay..." Amelia muttered.

She rest her head against the window, looking out and slowly drifting to sleep.

Evan was shook awake by a passing officer, and he blinked, realizing that the train had stopped. At first thinking that they had arrived. But instead of seeing hot desert...he simply saw open fields.

"Amelia.." He whispered, leaning over to the sleeping girl beside him, "We've stopped.."

Something was wrong. There was a lot of shouting, he realized, and the next thing he heard was gunshots.

"Oh god."

Amelia jolted up at the sound of gunshots, looking at Evan.

"What's going on?" She asked, standing up.

"We shouldn't be stopping."

"Something's happening." Evan whispered, quickly standing up and glancing around the length of the cabin, "I think someone's boarded the train...!"

He heard footsteps, suddenly, and he ducked back into the seat. He doubted those steps were from allies.

"Lucas!" A woman's voice snapped, "Locate everyone on this train! I want them all dead. If they resist fire immediately. Oh....and if you see an Alchemist, I'll deal with them personally."

Amelia sat straight down, holding onto Evan's arm.

This was scary.

"Are they going to kill us...?" She asked.

  • Author

"Not if we don't fight back."

As he heard the stomps of boots get closer, Evan glanced around the cabin. Water. He needed water, and now. If not, he wouldn't be able to form enough to take these men down. He quickly turned to Amelia and whispered, "Amelia I am going to need you to use your alchemy against these men, can you do it?"

"What do you me to do?" Amelia whispered, looking at Evan.

"We are kinda in a situation here..." She muttered.

"Distract them. Knock them out. Do something, I need to get ready, because I get a bad feeling that things are going to go so well." He quickly told her, glancing around as the footsteps grew closer. If they didn't act fast enough they were going to be prime targets for these criminals.

"Whatever you say." Amelia sighed, a mechanical monkey appearing straight in front of the walk way to Amelia and Eva.

It was a huge monkey. It was clapping its cymbals and screeching.

  • Author

"Not towards us!" Evan hissed, but dashed back, scouring the cabin for something, anything water related! He quickly spotted a small green canteen, which he eagerly grabbed and shook. He smiled as he could feel the sloshing water inside.

"Perfect." He murmured, as the boots slammed down and increased in intensity. Two men, armed with rifles, burst in and immediately saw both Amelia and Evan.

"Fire!" One of the men shouted, but before they could, they heard a loud clap of hands and suddenly mist exploded through the cabin. They shouted, but the shouts halted as Evan ran up to them, slamming their hands back and freezing them so they were stuck to the walls.

"Stay for awhile, would you."

"I still distracted themmmm~" Amelia chimed, walking to Evan's side.

"Was that not good enough?" She asked.

  • Author

"It worked, I guess." Evan stared at the man and quickly knocked them out. He had to be careful with his ice alchemy. It was extremely difficult not to freeze their whole bodies and kill them. It would leave horrible skin grafts if they were to be freed though...and their hands probably wouldn't be in good shape either. A fitting punishment for what they had done, though.

"Let's get off this train. I don't want to be caught in here anymore."

Amelia clapped her hands, making a door on the train.

On the other side was outside.

"Let's go." She said.

The two made it outside easily.

Evan quickly hopped out and turned back to the train. He just...had a terrible feeling. It was deep in his gut....something strange and terrifying that told him that something close by was something familiar and evil.

"Amelia...I feel like I'm about to be sick.." He whispered, clutching his gut. He gasped as the front part of the train suddenly exploded in an immense ball of flame.

Amelia froze as soon as a part of the train exploded. She quickly place a hand on Evan's back and urged him to move fowards.

"We need to get out of here..." She whispered, frightened.

There was a presance, Amelia felt it and started trying to walk faster.

  • Author

Evan nearly collapsed from the horrible feeling in his gut. He truly felt like he was going to get sick here and now.

"And just what is this?" Evan blinked, craning his head to see a tall, tanned woman with dark eyes and auburn hair. She had an elegant yet sharp face, with a powerful posture that portrayed intelligence and strength.

"Two young ones?" She smirked, instantly spotting the duo's watches, "Alchemists.."

Amelia cut her eyes at the woman.

"Dont touch Evan!" She exclaimed, holding Evan rather close to her.

This lady was frightening.

  • Author

The woman smirked.

"Courageous aren't we?" She lifted up one hand, her fingers in a ready-to-snap position, "Well, I've always hated hot-headed people. They always just seem ready to explode." Before she could snap her fingers, and do whatever went with that, Evan slammed his palms into the ground.

The thing about grass was that, like all organic life, it was almost entirely comprised of water. Which meant, with enough force, the grass could become a very useful steam bomb--just by super-heating the steam molecules and letting physics do the rest.

The woman was flung back...giving the two time to escape.

Amelia grabbed onto Evan's arm and started making a run for it, making sure that her best friend was okay.

"We need to hurry..." She muttered.

  • Author

They were lucky enough to have escaped. The train didn't seem to fair as well, as it exploded full force once they had ran away. Evan watched the smoke and fire rise up to the sky. He sat down, grateful that the horrible feeling was going away.

"What the hell.."
