Fullmetal Alchemist--New Age (1x1 with Neko-chan)

Posted

"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange."

It is the year 1935, 18 years after the events of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. A form of peace has fallen of Amestris now the Father and his Homunculi have fallen. After the death of Fuhrer Grumman, Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, took place as the now-current leader of Amestris.

Although peace has come for 18 years, trouble has begun once again in the area surrounding Ishval. A new group of people, bent on continuing the goals of Father, have formed and mark a new age of trouble and turmoil.

Within this are two rising star Alchemists, born in the East City, that have been tossed amongst the turmoil and fighting for humanities future. They, whether they wish so or not, are the only ones who can stop this and allow Amestris to become peaceful once again.

Amelia sat down beside Evan, trying to catch her breath. She shouldn't have ran.

"W-What was that...?" She asked.

  • Author

"That lady....was she an alchemist too..?" Evan whispered, shaking his head. He was out of breath. And energy. He wouldn't be able to get anywhere in this state.

"She must have been." Amelia said, looking at Evan.

"What do we do?" She asked.

  • Author

"I don't know." Evan murmured, looking down the length of the tracks and then in the other direction, "I don't know which way it is...or even if we can get there at all."

Tears started forming in Amelia's eyes.

She was scared, people had just died, there was nothing she could do, she didn't know how to get to their destination and Evan and Amelia were lost.

She hugged her knees, trying to calm down.

"It's alright." Evan whispered, wrapping an arm around her, "We'll figure something out."

That something came in the form of three jeeps and several larger convoys that came rolling down the plains beside the tracks. Evan looked up, woken for his bare sleep, and watched as the vehicles rode up to them. A swarm of military officers stepped out and converged on the train, barking orders as crew men began to deal with the train wreck.

"What a mess you both have found yourselves in." A man said, walking up to the two of them in a crisp blue uniform. He glanced at their watches and smirked, "So you're the kids my father sent? I'm Maes Mustang."

Amelia looked up at Maes, barely smilinh, but nodding. She looked exausted and had that saddened look in her eyes.

"Thank you..." she only muttered.

Maes nodded and ordered a few soldiers to help Amelia and Evan into one of the jeeps.

"Sorry it took us so long. We received word that the train had been destroyed so I rushed out to find you both. my father had sent me a message detailing your arrival, so I had to make sure. Rest up. Ishval is going to be even more hell than this was."

Amelia lay her head on Evan, closing her eyes.

Ishval is going to be worse? Is this really the correct job for the two?

Evan was practically asleep by the time the jeep had even started rolling again. All of that...that was too much. And Ishval was next...and from the way things were gearing up, Ishval was not going to be a pleasant ride.

"We're almost there." Maes suddenly told them, about two hours into the ride, "So I suggest you both get ready."

Amelia nudged Evan to wake him up, her getting herself ready and waiting on Evan.

  • Author

"Eh...wha?" Evan murmured, sitting up, "Are we there yet?"

"Almost, Mr. Maes said to get ready." Amelia said, looking down at Evan and smiling.

  • Author

"Right." Evan nodded, slowly regaining his lost composure. It was damn hot in this climate. Ishval was desert land--nothing but miles of sand as the lands rolled out into the ruins of Xerxes, where it was said Alchemy originated.

"How long till we arrive?"

"Five minutes." Maes turned and told him.

"Great.."

Amelia sighed, looking at the sand.

She was burning up. Like seriously it was probably a billion degrees.

They soon arrived at the base headquarters. Maes and the other few soldiers piled out, and Maes quickly helped both Amelia and Evan out of the car.

"Well, welcome to hell. Ishval has...not been treating anyone kindly these past few days. We've got more militants than we can deal with, especially now that there's this anti-government society sprung up."

"There really is a big problem down here..." Amelia sighed.

"So what's the plan Mr. Maes?" She asked eagerly.

  • Author

"The plan? Well, for the both of you, you both will be resting. You both, in my opinion, are too young and new to be in this situation. I don't know what you did to impress my father, but I'd rather not have kids on the battlefield. You'll be in the HQ for the moment. The Ishvalan....are taking great lengths to take us down. I don't want you both seeing what kind of mess there is out there."

There seemed to be pain in Maes eyes. He had seen hell, certainly.

Amelia nodded slowly, Maes did not want them fighting.

"Yes sir." That was all she could say.

  • Author

"Good. Now come inside." Maes told them, leading them both right into the headquarters. It was a fairly small place, at least the main building, as the entire encampment sprawled over a half mile on the outskirts of Ishval.

"You both..." Maes then said, clearly thinking for a moment, "Get yourselves situated with the headquarters. You may need to know what its like. Get an idea of what Ishval will be like for now.."

"So, just walk around and die in the heat." Evan murmured.

"I guess so..." Amelia muttered back to Evan.

The two walked over to the headquarters, and got themselves settled.
