The December 2009 issue of Famitsu magazine has included an article on the upcoming Kingdom Hearts game for the PlayStation Portable, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. This article includes a large amount of information regarding the game, including the first announcement of a release date and pricing. Birth by Sleep will be released in Japan on January 9, 2010, and will cost ¥6,090. Also revealed is the official English spelling for two characters in the game, Master Eraqus and Vanitas.
