i would say it's never too late but dmc games are inconsistent and old ones are a pain to play that's my personal experience

IMO kh3 was a mess, but it's a bigger story with more characters. DMC5 did give me what I wanted, story-wise, and because I'm that kind of DMC fan that's more into the story than the gameplay

Many DMC fans have been as hard on DMC5 as some KH fans have been on KH3 I've been personally way more satisfied by DMC5 then KH3 but everyone can have their opinions
