My favorite album is Distance because it was the album that made me really connect with Hikaru's music and singing style after not getting into it for a long time and opened the door to liking much more though I always liked Goodbye Happiness. I just love the mix of r and B, Latin, rock, a touch of rap, backing harmonies, thick but smooth rhythmic samplings and how silky, agile, raw and emotional Hikaru's voice is through out this album with fantastic falsettos and a desperate plaintive sound that is appealing, sensual, sensitive, and subtle. It is a bit harder edge but also features the excellent ballad Eternally. The sound and prodcution is really beautiful too with a dexterous use of overdubs that lends a lush density and harmonic complexity to the vocals. Ultra Blue is second. Deep River third and Heart Station fourth. Fantome and her last album follow these.
