Well, I think you bring up a good side discussion there then. From what we know there will only be a global version of the game correct? Because DQ Walk was so tailered to JP geography I wonder what the tentative plans are for "events" and whether they are initially going to be mostly in JP or if there are separate apps.

Considering how wildly popular DQ Walk was in Japan from what I know, I assume this game will do pretty great.

Yes, PkmnGo is an MMO. But that's just because the term is so broad. UC is as well, just limited interaction. Now if you said are they MMORPGs? I'd say no.

Actually VR for the military was really the only use after it failed to catch on in the late 80s cause of tech. Wasn't till Oculus came around it came back to consumers. But yeah, AR will be nutty when it's economic and the tech is there. I'd pay good money for AR pokemon.

I'm a big advocate for AR in the professional field, just the right applications haven't been made yet. In a few years we really should have the computer vision know-how for teaching and assisting for some trade skills. Plumbing, HVAC, Electrician, etc. I think AR games are cool but further off then the productivity tools that it provides.

I do think we'll get true ARpgs eventually, but Apple has to make their headset first. Nothing will happen until they have a pilot project to shill. Probably pokemon go add-on

Since living in the UK, I walk a few miles a day. Just would be nice to get loot for those miles walked. Probably won't be out by the time I leave (Late July), even though I think they are planning internally for a summer launch.

ML but I'm the weird one out. Location AR games are my jam and never thought we'd get a KH IP one. But I haven't even played re:mind yet so truly a fake fan.

From the information that has been leaked/shown. Does anyone know what map data they are utilizing? I assuming since Square also has DQ Walk it's whatever that app is using, however with this being global I wonder if they are relying on openstreetmaps or some other type of API?

Yeaaaaa that's too much lol. I think you got a decent deal from what I've seen them go for just some arcade stuff I have is much rarer and a lot cheaper then that for B1. But I also collect KH TCG so I know the KH price pain. Never seen the GBA edition banner, that's a cool piece. Gotta be hard to find.

Man I wish I had a home stop like that, my closest was a 12 minute walk. I couldn't tell from the early gameplay/info yet but it doesn't seem like ML has static points of interaction as an equivalent. However, I won't lie I'm against that unless it's something like a "home" you can set for just personal usage. I actually just joined this discord only for ML, I collect KH TCG but really I'm just all about walking games. I was ticked when dragon quest walk never went global.

Just like for Go, I will probably be walking around with a battery pack when possible. A long cable, slim pack, and a pocket really isn't too bad. But agree that this will chew through power unless you are leaving it in the GPS mode.

Yeah, like Neo said you can spoof fine but it just depends on how closely square will monitor/ban players for doing so. A lot of spoofing is easy to tell (impossible distances in short periods, unnatural movement (different then GPS inaccuracies), and static movement gaps (same distance repeatedly) are all things that are easy to spot. It's just how hard they want to enforce it to "make" people walk. Since AP from my understanding is linked to movement and you can potentially buy? AP they may be incentivzed to really be harsh on the potential exploit game. But from what I've heard of khux cheaters weren't exactly rare.
