The sea breeze brushed ashore slowly and but surely. It crashed gently on a boy's face as he watched the sunset from a tree branch.
"Sora!"
The boy blinked his blue eyes and looked back. His silver-haired friend was approaching him.
"Riku." Sora smiled lightly and turned back to the sun.
Riku stood next to Sora and gazed at the sunset also. He looked up at Sora and saw the expression on his face. "What's wrong?" He asked, concerned.
Sora put a hand to his heart and closed his eyes. "They're suffering..." He said in a whisper.
Riku raised an eyebrow at Sora and put a hand on his shoulder. "Who is?"
"Them. The hearts inside of me. I....I want to save them. I want them to be happy again." Sora clutched his shirt and began to shake. He looked down at Riku and said, "I'm going to set them free..."
Riku stared at him, wide-eyed. He took a hold of Sora's shoulders and looked into his eyes. "Sora, do you know what you could DO to yourself!? You could become a heartless again!"
Sora slapped Riku's hand away and looked at the sandy shore. "If I keep them inside, their sadness and pain will bring darkness inside of me. Which would you rather have? I...Most likely, I'll still be me." He finished, looking at Riku.
Sora stood and stuck out his arm. His keyblade appeared and he smiled a toothy grin at his friend one last time. He wasn't sure if he was going to be okay, but it was worth a shot.
