The Naruto Shippuden anime is almost over (Yes I know we're getting spin offs, but this is it for the adaptation from the main manga) and it's very sad
Naruto Shippuden is a continuation of the original Naruto anime. The original Naruto anime aired from October 3rd 2002 to February 8th 2007, whilst Shippuden began airing just 1 week later.
This thread is just a general appreciation thread, post about your experiences with the series-stay positive as we are 'appreciating' it and not downplaying it. A little complaint is fine but a huge paragraph about how it all went downhill after point B is not what this thread is about.
NO SAKURA BASHING, no Kishimoto bashing either, or Pierrot bashing. No bashing at all.
Anyway,this is my story.
Naruto is something more to me than just an anime. It represents a lot of things, and that's why I love it-doing things for the sake of protecting others rather than being selfish, becoming a better person, overcoming fear and hatred, enduring pain and forging your own path.
The anime of Naruto and Naruto Shippudden follow the story of a young boy as he overcomes the trials and tribulations of becoming the most respected person in his village. Over time, his goal evolves into something that involves more than just him, his best friend strays down the wrong path and things go sour, people around him die but he doesn't falter, he just keeps moving forward.
Rock Lee and Might Guy overcoming the odds and working against their fate, Itachi's impossible decision, Kakashi losing everyone he loves, the death of Minato and Kushina, Shikamaru's growth as a person, the story of Pain are some of the most emotional scenes I've ever seen in any show or book.
Who doesn't remember when Naruto used the rasengan for the first time against Kabuto, Rock Lee's 6 gates, Might Guy's 8 gates, Naruto linking with Kurama for the first time, Hinata taking on Pain when no one else would, Pain using Edo tensei, the first Sasuke vs Naruto fight, the entire Sasuke rescue mission arc, Orochimaru invading Konoha, Konohamaru using the rasengan, Shikamaru tricking Hidan and completly outsmarting him, Killer Bee's first appearance, the appearance of the masked man who called himself 'Madara', Madara Uchiha throwing meteors down from the sky, Sasuke leaving the village, Shikamaru vs Temari, Itachi vs Sasuke, the passing of Pervy Sage, Naruto returning to the village after fighting Pain and everyone is like "We knew you could do it!" and giving him praise, the entire Land of waves arc?

It's quite insane how much this anime has impacted my life. Back in February 2015 I was going through one of those times that every person goes through, a dark time to be honest. I was depressed, down in the dumps and full of emptiness. One of my best friends was going through a dark time and it rubbed off on me, I felt worthless since I couldn't help her overcome it, was I really a friend I if I couldn't even help her out? My grades slipped and I just stopped talking to people, I just wanted to be alone.
I vaguely remember sitting in my room and remembering that I planned to start watching anime-what better way then to start with one that I'd been hearing all about? Naruto.
So I did, I kept watching and watching and watching. It became a coping mechanism in all honesty, the themes of friendship and protecting people, not being able to save everyone (Naruto not being able to bring Sasuke back) and following dreams just spoke to me so well. Seeing this kid just go for it, he got shunned by everyone but he just kept going for it. I also remember myself being filled with jealousy towards one of my other best friends who was a lot smarter than me. At that time I felt I had no real talent or ability, and he was always the smart one which is what I wanted to be known for, so seeing an underdog like Naruto just pursue his dreams really helped me out in that sense. Another thing that always stuck with me was
"The guts to never give up"
Which is something I still folllow through with whenever I fail. Naruto enduring the pain of Jiraiya's death and moving forward really hit me hard.
Sure this series may not have perfect story telling, but it's still beautiful.
Arigatou, Kishimoto san and everyone at Pierrot! That's Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Naruto and now Naruto Shipudden that you've done to near perfection!
