I Wish Mario Had More of a Story(video by brawlmaster012)

I completely agree with the guy. If there's ever a good plot and more personality in characters  in a future mario title, the gameplay shouldn't suffer for it. Also please watch the WHOLE video before posting a comment.

I didn't watch the entire video, but I don't think Mario needs more story, its actually a trap a lot of modern games fall into that I don't really like.Of course it depends on the type of game,RPGs need a good story but most platformers don't.Look at Metroid Other M,the first Metroid that game had tones of cutscenes but they didn't make the game and better. When I play a platformer I like to just jump to level from level and play constantly.I didn't care for the cutscenese in sunshine too, they were not bad of course, but they don't really add anything to the overall experience and we have the Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi games for more story-driven Mario games.

If Nintendo ever make a Mario game with tones of cutscenes like the 3D Sonic games I woundn't mind,I'd probably still enjoy the game, but its not necessary

Are you not aware of the Paper Mario and Mario RPG series? They're story centric. The primary Mario games are casual platformers... and even they divulge into story (for example, Rosalina in the Super Mario Galaxy franchise).

yes, I am aware of them

yes, I am aware of them

So how come Mario is lacking in story if there's two Mario franchises that are story centric?

paper mario isn't really story centric anymore

Colour Splash still is. Sure, the narrative isn't on par with the previous Paper Mario entries before Sticker Star, however, from an objective standpoint, it still has a narrative arc. A beginning of the tale, middle of the tale and the end of the tale. And let's not forget the Mario and Luigi series either!

I'm not forgetting about the mario and luigi series. I've played them obviously xP I just thought it would be interesting if the main mario games had more of a story

But the point that I'm trying to make is that, Mario does have narrative. It's just not in the main games. That's all.

I see what you mean, but the latter would still be interesting though regardless if the spinoffs are more story centric or not
