Nope. More like a soft reboot.

This game looks pretty good, I think I might just buy it even though I never played the first RDR game.

I'm assuming you have a PS4 Tails. Red Dead Redemption is hitting PS Now soon. If that's your jam i'd recommend playing it.

Also it looks like Playstation has announced a partnership with Rockstar, so Playstation will get select content earlier. The trailer was captured from the PS4 Version as well. Looks damn good.
