I played this game a little over a year ago and then I stopped and now it does its update I'm curious is there any special benefit to actually migrate my old the data from Facebook? Or would I just do better starting over with all the extra stuff they're giving right now

If you sync your game data to Facebook, your game data won't be lost. If it's still synced with Facebook, and we have to update the app your data will still be there.

 

You only migrate data if you are going to play the game on a new device.
