Okay, someone who's probably used this software before already knows, but for anyone who has a PS3 and a way to have a WIRED CONNECTION, there is a way to play this, and any game, online, with anyone, anywhere. NOTE: As reported by Tsunamo, AdHoc Party region-locks you to whatever store region you downloaded the app from, either US, PAL, or JP.
Requirements:
PlayStation 3
**MUST be using a Wired Connection
**CANNOT be the 20GB model, as it needs Wifi (uses to connect to PSP)
PSP with Birth by Sleep
Instructions
1. Go to the PSN store on the PS3 and search for "Ad Hoc." The number 1 result should be AdHoc Party. Download and install it.
2. Run AdHoc Party, and click on "Start" once the main menu is up.
3. Agree to the TOS, and you can select a room by tilting the left joystick in any direction, or use R1 and L1 to navigate the lobbies. Or, continue on for an easier route.
4. Press O to go back to the main menu, and hit "Search for Game." The PS3 will then start looking for your PSP.
5. Start BBS, head to the Mirage Arena, and hit "Online." It will take a brief second to connect.
6. On the PS3, once the game is connected, your PSP should be listed. Once it is, click on "Search" and the lobbies and rooms will pop up again, but smaller this time.
7. Simply press X to search the lobby for BBS games, and if there are none found, or if the rooms are full, press R1 or L1 to switch lobbies.
8. Enjoy true online multiplayer on Birth By Sleep.
I actually just found out about AdHoc Party an hour ago, and I wrote this for here just in case nobody here knew about it. I have already tested this out by wiring my PS3 into my laptop, and it connects fine, but no one was playing the game online =(. Also, I'll repeat myself here, that this works on ANY game that has Ad Hoc compatibility, like Loco-Roco. lol Also, if there's anyone out there that might need help getting the PS3 on a Wired Connection, just PM me, and I can walk you through it =3. There's also a way to do it through a computer if your internet is too far away, using a bridged connection, and I can walk you through that as well.
Now, I've played a few games, and AdHoc Party is a little buggy. First of all, if it comes up on the screen "You have been disconnected from the lobby, return to the main menu," do NOT press X on the controller. You are still connected until you press X, I played for an hour and a half on that screen. Not sure why it comes up, but just leave it be, and you'll be fine.
