Okay, begin!

 

Algebra II. Another class that Oni couldn't pay attention to. She couldn't find a point to the classes, especially with the major war going on. However, her attention span had been farther off today, and she couldn't figure out why. Something was on her mind, and it wouldn't leave her. She had the feeling that something... different was going to happen...

A knock on the door, the teacher pauses from his lecture and goes to the door. He opens it and looks astonished. He starts talking in a low, inaudible tone, a shadow on the door responding to him. Then the teacher walks quietly to his desk and looks at the class. "Students, we have a new student joining us today," he said as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Please Join me in welcoming Mr. Jinn Tensho." He starts clapping as a kid wearing all black walks in the room. He had long black hair that reached to the base of his neck, pure gray eyes and three scars running down his right eye. "So, Mr. Tensho, how bout telling the class a little about yourself." He just closes his eyes for a while and then looks at the teacher with a glare that made the room cold. "No." He calmly states, then he starts walking to the back of the room to where the only extra seat in class was, directly next to Oni. He sits down and closes his eyes.

Oh, was that it? Oni thought. Just a new kid? ... Well, he does look... different. Shrugging it off, she stared back down at her down, continuing to scribble nonsense onto her desk. Five minutes into class, and she still had her mind set on her mysterious intuition. She looked out the window that was to the right of her, hoping that it would help stir an idea, but to no avail. Giving a silent sigh, she looked back down at her desk. She noticed something rather hilarious to her. Her scribbles on the desk went horizontally, just like a sentence. In her mind, she snickered. Did I just make up my own language? she thought sarcastically, amused by her own boredom.

"Oni!" Snapped the teacher. Oni jumped and blushed, standind up quickly. "Y-yes sensei?" she said, not daring to take her eys off the teacher. "Can you answer this question on the bored?" She stared at him, bewildered, then she said, "No sir, I can't." Sensei grinned and said, "Perhaps if you didn't write on your desk and actually paid attention then maybe you would have had a small chance of figuring it out." Oni sat back down, red as a beat. Jinn stood up and said "-5xy squared to the fifth power over 3." Sensei gasped, looked in his book, then grimaced in anger. "Grrr, that's correct. Although how you knew that is beyond me. You may sit down, Mr. Tensho." He said, anger in his voice. Jinn quietly sat down, then passed a small note to Oni, which read "Is he always this much of a jerk?"

Oni sighed, feeling extremely embarrassed with herself, and furious with the teacher. She became surprised by the small note on her desk. Curious, she opened it and read its message. She looked over at the new kid, Jinn for a brief second before deciding to reply. On the paper, she wrote, "This is one of his average days." Being quite the sneak, she looked back outside the window, gently brushing the note off of her desk.

Jinn nods as he reads the note. Then, crumpling it up, he puts it in a pocket and looks at the teacher. Then he sneaks another note to Oni, this one reading "The writing on your desk, where did you learn how to write in Olden Kata?"

After reading the note, Oni brought her head up to glare outside the window. Is he mocking my scribbles? she thought. By this point, she didn't bother replying. She easily became bored of it anyways.

Suddenly, the bell of the speaker on the ceiling went off before someone saying, "Teachers and students, we are having a lockdown. This is not a drill. Teachers, please lock the doors and have your students close the window blinds. We'll be sending a few officers to each door, so open the door to only them. I repeat, this is not a drill."

Oni sighed. She found it odd that they actually said that this "wasn't a drill", but it didn't really bother her. She went ahead and got comfortable in her seat.

Jinn gets up and rushes to the door and throws it open, dashing out and pulling it shut behind him. Sensei is heard screaming, "MR. TENSHO GET BACK IN HERE THIS INSTANT!!" Then as the last bolts on the doors and windows are being latched shut tight, a explosion takes place, rocking the entire room with a violent shake.

"Attention!! Teachers and staff, evacuate all of the students out of the building immediately! I repeat, evacuate EVERYO--" The announcement had been cut off.

Sighing, the teacher mumbled about how it just "wasn't his day" before telling the class to leave the building in a single file. Of course, that didn't work out too well, for the students crowded around the door, trying oh-so frantically to get out. Not wanting to get caught up in it, Oni stayed at the back of the little mob, waiting patiently for it to decrease. Of course, the explosion and panicking had caused her to be in shock, but she remained quite calm. Was this the intuition that I was having? she thought.

Suddenly a loud demonic shriek sounded, breaking the glass on all the windows, the soundwaves making the room vibrate and peoples ears bleed. Then another rumble, and a figure is thrown into the room through the wall.

Oni jumped, for she was by the wall that the individual came out of. The other students panicked even more, covering their ears as they tried desperately to get out of the room. Oni viewed the figure and instantly realized that he was dead. The sight make her stomach flip, so she looked the other way, back at the mob of students. She couldn't understand why they were covering their ears until she touched her own. Examining her finger, she found a drip of blood on it. Her eyes widened as an ache grew in her stomach. Blood had always made her feel rather queazy. As the last of the students finally left the room, Oni couldn't find the strength to follow, so she felt her way along the wall, clutching her stomach, until she sat down.

Suddenly a figure comes rushing into the room, pursued by another figure. But the first figure took the second figure and after a few blows traded, took a small blade from his pocket and stabbed the second figure in the neck. Then he came up to Oni and picked her up, yelling over the screams "What are you still doing here? You need to get out! Let's go!" The figure carried Oni out of the room into a blood soaked battle ridden hallway, with police and students fighting demons. "Dammit. There's too many. You!" He looked at Oni. "Can you walk?"

Despite feeling light-headed, Oni replied, "I think so..." At first, she attempted to stand up on her own, and she had done a pretty decent job. However, she was caught off guard when her foot slightly slipped. That's when she realized all of the blood in the hallway. Staring at it in horror for a moment, Oni mumbled, "No..." as she sat back down, burying her head into her arms.

"Dammit. Okay then. Prepare yourself." Picks Oni up gently. "Hang on!" Suddenly sprints towards the nearest exit, but it collapses and he turns around in midair and just floats before speeding in the opposite direction, dodging demons and students as he carries Oni out of the building, or at least tries too. "SHIT!" suddenly drops Oni to the ground and covers her with a wing as a wave of heat flows over them. "This isn't good. At this rate the half blood will die...Oni." The figure looks at you, and it turns out to be Jinn.

Despite all of the intense heat, Oni froze. "You.." she mouthed. Why does the new kid have a wing? she thought, and why are there demons here? I thought they were at the mainland? They couldn't have... broke out, could they? Her ache had reminded her of the real world, making her cringe.

"Oni. I need to you to trust me. But I also need to trust you. What I'm about to do will save your life. But if anyone finds out, it will jeapordize both of us. Can I trust you to keep your mouth shut, half breed?" Reaches into his pocket and grabs a paper. While opening it up, it shows a tetragramacle alchemy symbol and the writing Oni had scribbled on her desk. The waves of heat seemed to intensify, as if not wanting Jinn to be able to read the paper out loud. "Come on Oni. I need you to say you trust me!" A figure appears out of the flames in the exit, zombie like wings but a reptillian skeleton body. "Make your choice! Life or Outcast?!"

Many thoughts went through Oni's thoughts in a mere moment. Save my life? Half-breed? That looks like those scribbles I made. Why? Her ache wasn't helping the situation either, and neither did her noticing the figure in the flames. Keeping her eyes shut and head lowered, she finally exclaimed, "Okay! Okay! I trust you!"

Suddenly the air becomes filled with black feathers, Jinn murmuring the words on the paper. The figure screeched, moving back. Then a scythe blade came swinging out of nowhere, impaling the creature, absorbing it into the blade. Jinn grabs the handle of the blade. Floating in midair, he spread out his hand and the feathers doused the flames around Oni. Then he drops to the ground in front of Oni, pure black wings, long black hair, pure grey eyes with slit pupils. He holds out his hand, waiting for Oni to take it.

For the moment, Oni began to wonder how the day would have been like if she had only decided to skip school for that day. However, she knew that speaking of what could have been wouldn't change the reality that she was in. Gagging for a second, due to the way that the blood was making her sick, she went ahead and grabbed Jinn's hand.

Pulls Oni up, picking her up and carrying her out the exit, flying into the sky. "There is no more blood Oni. You can open your eyes. I guess you probably have a lot of questions. But you need to rest first." Flies higher and faster, going to a mountain top, puts Oni on the tip, flying a little ways off so as to give Oni some room.

On top of the mountain, Oni became astonished. However, that was easily overthrown with her unanswered questions. "What just happened back there?" she demanded. "I thought the war was at the mainland? They said that they were blocked off of, that they-- and you. What-- Why were they, on the paper--" Her words by then just faded out as she found herself at a loss.

Jinn starts laughing, his wings shrinking as he lands on the mountain top next to you. Then as he calms down, he sits next to Oni and sighs. "First things first, you are a Half breed. half demon and half human. And you are very powerful for your status. Though as of yet, you haven't awoken. And the war? It's been on and off the mainland for years. There is a goverment agency, so covert and covered up in conspiracy and paranoia that very few know of it and those who find out are....ERASED...." He pauses as a grimace in anger appears on his face. "Anyway, they are taking demons and experimenting on them to use as weaponry. But for humans who are born with demonic power...if they are used as experiments, then they awake before there time and become...monsters. But some keep control. And they are hunted by other experiments. That back there was a small band of demonic experimental power. They were all failures in Project H, or 'Hybrid'. But as you can see they were still quite powerful." Jinn sighs, laying on his back. "Anythign else you wanted to know, half breed Oni?"

Oni had paid attention to what he had said, but one minor topic had been on her mind. She grind her teeth before replying, "Yes, I do. Why do you keep calling me a half breed? I'm not half demon, or even a little bit!" Her stubbornness had almost made her lose her balance for a second, but she regained it.
