Boy, has it been a while since I've made a Kingdom Hearts theory. I love to make theories, but I haven't seen anything that has gotten me thinking in a long time. However, now that we have gotten that new tweet from Nomura himself, along with that sweet, sweet artwork, I finally have some new ideas that are not just theories, but also some questions that I hope spark some discussion. But before we begin, there will be spoilers for Kingdom Hearts Union χ[cross].
To start off, who are these new Union leaders? Just from the little information we have on them, they seem to be the replacements of the foretellers in more ways than one, because they seem to resemble each of foretellers in some way. Ephemer seems to be the leader of the group like Ira was, Skuld was told that she was like Ava, and Blaine seems to have the same "Why do we have to follow the rules" attitude that Aced had. While I haven't seen anything connecting Ventus to Gula or Strelitizia to Invi (unless I have missed something), I think it is safe to say that those two are meant to have connections to them. So, to me, it seems like the Master of Masters specifically chose these five to replace the foretellers because they share similarities to the foretellers, and since the Master of Masters wants to keep their Unions alive (why does he want this?), he probably wants the new Union leaders to lead the Unions in the same way that they have been led by the foretellers. However, a wrench was thrown into this when Strelitizia was killed. I think that it is safe to say that Lauriam killed her, but why? Is it possible that he is the traitor?
Next, who got the copy of the Book of Prophecies, and what is it being used for? I think that the copy of the Book of Prophecies was given to Ventus, only because that scene in which the Master of Masters told Ava to give it to the person circled in red was shown right before Ventus' introduction. I feel like that was done intentionally to show us that Ventus is the one who has it, or it could just be a misdirection. Who knows for sure until we are shown who has it. As for what it is being used for, I think that it is being used to rebuild the World into the World as it exists in the rest of the series, as countless smaller worlds with barriers between them. After all, the Master of Masters did say that "it's needed to shape the world into what it's supposed to be." Maybe he meant that literally. But why was it supposed to be given in secret? I also think that this is the only copy of the Book of Prophecies that survived the Keyblade War and that it is the Book of Prophecies that Maleficent and Pete are after.
Finally, who is the mysterious figure in the black coat in the new artwork? I have seen some people saying that they think it might be Strelitizia's Nobody, which I actually think might be the case, especially since it seems odd to introduce such a seemingly important character just to kill her off immediately. But if that is her, what will her role be going forward?
These are my thoughts. They may not seem like a whole lot, but I don't think that we have a lot to go on yet. What do you guys think? We have been told that going forward the story will be deeper and will keep us thinking at every turn, so I'm sure that there will be many more theories to come in the future.
