Sora’s breath caught. Her own declaration ringing in his ears. His thoughts strayed to the secret place again. But he couldn’t find the courage to ask. He didn’t want to ruin this bliss. He took one of her hands that was against his chest and held it tight. “Heh, looks like we’re stuck with each other then.”

Kairi looked up at that, her periwinkle eyes meeting the ocean blue she secretly adored. “I wouldn’t say ‘stuck’ necessarily,” she admitted softly. His hand holding hers, strong and firm. And their close proximity. Their faces pretty close. There was definitely some tension, but it was...good. A tension she favored over others. She had to admit that Sora’s good looks stunned her again. Had he always been so handsome?

“Me neither,” Sora agreed. The way her wine colored hair framed her face under the lights, the sparkle in her periwinkle eyes, the fullness of her petal pink lips...she was like art. Elegant and beautiful and almost untouchable in how perfect she was. To him at least. Sometimes when they were together, he thought he could hear their hearts beat as one. Maybe it was the result of her heart cocooning itself in his. Maybe it was just his imagination. But, in his heart, he believed it was an echo of destiny.

Kairi's smile remained. She lowered her gaze to their hands. Again she thought about how right this was, how she didn't want him to let go. Were they...more than just friends now? They were best friends, of course, but...even best friends didn't hold each other like this--so close that his cologne would linger on her clothes. Not that she was complaining, but...it did confuse her a little bit. Did Sora know about her feelings?

Sora stood in silence for a minute, words trapped behind his lips. There was so much he wanted to say. To ask about. But the thread of silence around his throat was thick. He swallowed and let go of her hand reluctantly. “We should probably get to bed with class in the morning.”

Kairi took in a small breath and nodded. "Right," she agreed. She removed her hands from his chest and took a step back, out of his hold. She missed it already. "I'll see you later, then." She linked her hands behind her back. Sleep wouldn't come easy, not after tonight.

“Right. Later...” Sora gave a small, half wave. His smile was intact but it seemed more uncertain than before. He walked towards his room slowly. Tonight, it felt like something had changed between them...

Kairi watched Sora for a short second before she approached her door. With one hand on the knob, she looked after Sora again. She wished things were simple again, like when they were kids, but...they grew up. A lot changed, and not just between them. But that seemed to be the most significant change--the one in their relationship. Kairi sighed quietly and opened her door. It was time to sleep, though she had a feeling she would dream about a certain keyblade wielder.

Sora wasn’t quite sure how he had ended up in this predicament or why. But somehow he had become Kairi’s fashion guinea pig. The two were in one of the studios for students. Classes were over for the day, so most students were already gone to dinner or their extra curriculars. “Are you sure you really want me to model? I’ve never really done it before...”

"That's okay. I just need to get your measurements for my male fashion project," Kairi explained, grabbing a few utensils off a nearby table. It had been a few days since the arcade and their moment before saying goodnight. But...things were fine between them. Back to normal, she supposed. Roxas was busy with his own project, and Riku flat-out refused to be involved in the project, so Sora was her next go-to. Of course, she preferred it anyway, since she was most comfortable with him in the first place. She surprised herself by not going to him sooner, but after that prolonged goodnight, she wasn't sure where they stood. But, Sora was here, so that was something.

“M-Measurements?” he repeated nervously. That seemed...awkward? Sora followed her movements and eyed the utensils surreptitiously. He wasn’t a big fan of needles or the idea of being poked with them. As a child, he had often squirmed during the tailoring process, causing his mother to poke and prod at him with the object repeatedly. Which it was his fault for all the wiggling, but he had never had the longest attention span, especially for those kinds of things.

"Mm-hm," Kairi hummed, grabbing a notepad and pencil, as well as the measuring tape. She turned to face him, and upon noticing his expression, she smiled. "It's fine. No needles...yet." She just needed to get his measurements so then she could get the fabric ready. And then whenever that was set, she would start pinning for touch-ups. She approached him. "You okay with this?" He didn't have to if he didn't want to... She could ask one of the models to do it, if necessary.

Sora nodded. “Yeah, I’m ready.” He squeezed his eyes shut. The gesture was childish, but Sora couldn’t help himself. He was determined to help Kairi (and keep her away from the ogling male models). He had seen them before talking to Kairi. Their words full of flattery as their eyes roved across her body. The idea of her spending any alone time with them outweighed his fear of needles.

Kairi started giggling at Sora's face. "No need to close your eyes, silly," she insisted. She set the pencil and notepad on a nearby table. She unraveled her tape and looped it over Sora's head to measure his neck first. It did mean she had to stand pretty close, but...that was okay. Right?

Sora opened his eyes and rubbed the back of his head; a blush dusted the apples of his cheeks. “Sorry, force of habit.” When she stood closer to him, Sora stiffened slightly and hoped his heart wouldn’t betray him. He liked the proximity, but there was a level of intimacy that made him unsure. “What color is it going to be?”

"What, the suit?" Kairi asked, finding the measurement and saying it to herself to keep it in her memory. She took the tape away and leaned toward the table with the notepad, jotting it down. "It'll be a dark blue." She turned to Sora and examined his clothing. That's...not going to work. She looked at him, fighting a blush. "You'll need to take off your shirt," she told him, then biting her lip. She needed an exact measurement, on skin.

“Dark blue,” he mused aloud, “that should look good. I like blue.” Her second question caught him off guard. “M-My shirt!?” He sputtered. It made sense of course. The measurements probably had to exact, but taking of his shirt in front of Kairi...? They weren’t kids anymore. This wasn’t just a day out at the beach. There was more tension in the air. Electricity.

Kairi hesitated slightly before shrugging. "I mean, if you don't want to, it's fine. I can just ask one of the male models instead," she said. Why was this a big deal? She didn't understand... She'd seen him without his shirt before... Was it different now? Did she do something to make him uncomfortable? Kairi meant it--he really didn't have to do this if he didn't want to.

“No! No!” Sora held up his hands defensively, “I-I’d love to! I mean—“ he slapped himself upside the head and sighed. “I’m fine with it. Just hang on a sec,” Sora said. He stripped off his jacket, the zipper catching briefly before releasing. The shirt came next and exposed his well-toned chest; a result of his major and keyblade pratcice.

Kairi watched Sora remove his shirt, and she knew she was ogling. Staring was natural when an attractive guy had a nice body. Toned chest, firm pecs, a nice set of abs... Kairi blinked and snapped herself out of her trance. Focus, Kairi, she ordered herself. She couldn’t get distracted right now.

“W-What now?” Soras asked. He saw Kairi’s expression and smiled nervously. Was she looking at him? Or rather...was she admiring him? “Something wrong?”

  • Author

Kairi swallowed. “Um...no, no, you’re fine,” she said. Only then did she realize that “fine” could have been a physical description of Sora in this state—with his shirt off. Her face warmed with a blush and she cleared her throat. “...Can you lift your arms out to your sides for me?” She adjusted her grip on her tape again. Sora looked...really good.

Edited by Forever Love

The implication of the word “fine” rang in his ears. She didn’t mean to say that, did she? At her question, however, he automatically lifted his arms out to his sides as his thoughts strayed. Did she find him appealing? Riku has always been the more toned one of the two, so Sora often found himself inadequate in that department. But Kairi seemed to like it... “Saturday was fun, huh?”

Kairi stepped toward Sora after he lifted his arms. She invaded his personal space once more, the scent of his cologne reaching her almost instantly. He smelled good too. Kairi, focus, she ordered herself again. She was doing this for a grade; she couldn't get distracted by Sora's body or anything. "It was," she agreed softly, reaching around him to get her tape around his chest. "...Sorry if my hands are cold," she apologized, voice soft due to their close proximity. She looked up at Sora while she was close, but quickly focused back on her task, bringing the two ends of her tape together to get his chest measurement.

He stiffened but the cold from her hands wasn't the only reason. "You're fine. It's fine." Her hands on my skin feels weird. But good. Good? Ah, man... Sora touched his heart briefly. "But um," he continued, trying to remain calm about their close proximity, "The others seemed to be getting pretty close now?"
