I live in the Uk, I finished my A levels this year (not sure what the American equivalent is?) And I'm gonna have a certificate ceremony thing before I head off to university.

Only thing is, this 'ceremony' is turn up at school in the evening, have a few nibbles and wine, take certificate and go home. What the hell? I mean I worked hard for 2 solid years to get these grades, and this is all we get. I can't think of any time we've ever had a proper ceremony.

I know in America you have a graduation ceremony for just moving from one grade up to another, which I think is fantastic

Is it just me or does everyone else think that the American schools at least show appreciation for this sort of thing?

Most American schools do these graduations ceremonies. Especially now since the graduation rate is lower than ever.

Half the students don't seem to care though. They only go so they can get their certificate. Last year I attended my friends graduation and I saw some people leave early.

i would hate to have to sit through a boring ceremony like they do in america.

the only important bit is the piece of paper you get, and tbh that doesn't do much either

Not every grade. xD There are only graduations for Kindergarten, Fifth Grade, Eighth Grade, and Twelfth Grade, because in each you are moving to a new level of school. I can't wait for my graduation ceremony. I've got a long time to wait for it, but you should be excited. You shouldn't really care how much of a party you get. You're not even going to care in five, ten years.
I've only had a ceremony for when I graduated Pre-K. o 3o

I don't even know how it feels to be in a ceremony.I always get sick at a day of the ceremony.
