"Sleep well?" Kairi asked.

"Yeah." he lied.

Sora went back to wondering what he had in her hands. He squinted and his face fell.

The good luck charm.

"Kairi, I..." Sora began.

"Take it." Kairi said, handing it to Sora. He held it in his hand and smiled. He hugged her tight and whispered in her ear.

"I'll be back soon."

Riku's jealousy flared in seeing them hug after Kairi had given Sora something. After seeing Sora a little to close to Kairi's ear for his comfort. Irritably, he got up and trudged out of the house, having changed already, with his hands in his pockets. He didn't go to the tree but instead to Sora and his Secret Spot, the cave where the door to Darkness had lingered. the place where he messed everything up.

Kairi smiled. "Right."

Sora got up and walked over to the water.

"Sea, sky, land." He said once more. He though how it fit all three of them. This island. That was why he loved it.

He saw Riku walking towards the beach and smiled. "RIKU!" He called.

  • Author

Turning around he spotted Sora running towards him and gave a small smile, hiding the bitterness in his eyes. He stopped walking long enough for Sora to come up to him.

"I'm sure you've woken up all of Destiny Islands by shouting my name, good job."

Sora furrowed his eyebrows. "It's only me., you, and Kairi. Not like the woholle world's population is here. "

Sora put on a pouty face. "C'mon. We're not gonna wait for tomorrow. We gotta leave now."

Riku blinked, looking at Sora, shocked. He hadn't been expecting that. Wasn't he allowed to just go visit the Spot real quick? Why now? If it's because of Kairi I swear...

"Why?"

Sora showed his friend the good luck charm. "Kairi gave it to me. I'm guessing... she wants us to leave as soon as possible, so we can come back faster..." Sora put the charm away. "I think she's right. We should get going. C'mon." He extended a hand towards Riku.

Riku looked at it for a moment, debating on taking it or slapping it away. In the end he took a hold of the slightly trembling fingers and intertwined them with his own, looking down at Sora in that cool way of his.

"Fine, but can we go somewhere first?"

Sora looked at Riku like he had just eaten a booger.

"What? Why? Where?!" He looked at Riku's serious face and remembered something crucial to that expression. When Riku has that face, there's no stopping him.

Sora sighed and walked beside him.

"Fine."

Riku gave a quick smile in seeing Sora go along with him and held his hand tightly. Like he didn't want to let go. He pulled him to their Secret Spot, the cave and smiled back at him.

"Do you remember this spot?" He asked carefully, hoping he actually did.

Sora looked around. It DID look familiar... Maybe he just hadn't been here in awhile.

But Riku seemed to remember.

"Yeah. I do." he lied. "But... Refresh my memory." he said, holding Riku's hand tight.

Riku had a nagging feeling that Sora was lying but instead of really calling him out he just let his eyes drift downcast, his heart taking on the disappointment.

"It's...you know. It was our Secret Spot to play in when we were kids." He clarified, remembering the time Sora had thought there was a monster in there but it had actually been the wind. He had been so cute then, he thought, ducking down to enter the cave entrance.

Sora blushed. He scatched his cheek. "Oh! R-right." Sora laughed and let go of Riku's hand. He remembered that he used to be really scared ofthis place. Coming back just made him laugh.

"We had some real great times huh, Riku? Before this. Before the Keyblade, Kairi, everything. Why come here though?"

  • Author

Riku laughed, looking back at Sora as he walked into the cave entrance.

"Because, it was our place. It was really important to me. Especially since it was only place that belonged to just you and....me." His words faltered as he turned and saw a carving of Sora...and Kairi. That...how did she...

"When did Kairi ever go in here?" He asked, tone coming out a little flat.

Sora looked at him, surprised.

"Ah- well, you see.... When he cane to the island and we all hung out a lot, I thought maybe she could come here... For all three of us to share..."

He regretted coming here with Riku. The way he spoke of this place made him shiver. Riku wouldn't be pleased with Kairi being here. It seemed that Riku held this place close to his heart.

"I... I swear it's not like she broke or defaced anything..."

  • Author

But she did! Riku insisted in his head, thinking sorrowfully that Sora just didn't understand. This had been their spot where they could be alone and have fun together. Not for Kairi to come in and expect to be welcome. That hurt...how Sora hadn't bothered to think about that fact. even if they had been young...He promised along with him didn't he? This was there place.

"No...I guess not." He said, biting back the comments of hate he wanted to spew.

Sora felt so horrid. He was sure he'd hurt Riku's feelings. He reached out for Riku's hand.

"Riku! I'm sorry... I know we made that promise but she's our friend too... I know this place is special to me and you but we can't just exclude her... I didn't mean to hurt your feelings..!"

  • Author

Riku looked at Sora, twitching his hand away just slightly. He didn't mean to be mad or irritated. He just...was.

"I...you didn't Sora. I was just a little shocked is all." He said, lying through his teeth as he began to walk away disheartened. "Let's go."

Sora stood there, unsatisfied with Riku's response. He caught up to him and hugged his waist, burying his head in his back.

"Don't lie to me. You are mad.. Just tell me why, Riku. Is it because of Kairi? Are you mad because I brought her here..? Is that it?"

  • Author

Riku stiffened and stumbled forward a bit as Sora wrapped his arms around his waist, nuzzling his face into his back delicately. He looked back just slightly at the brunette, feeling sympathetic. He felt the urge to tell him. It'd be so easy to do so. Really, it would. But he didn't. At least not all of it.

"Sora, I couldn't be mad at you if I tried. Like I said, you worry to much. I'm not because...of Kairi. Just a little surprised."

Sora squeezed him once hard and released him. He ran out of the cave, not turning back.

"Fine! Be that way!"

Why didn't Riku want to tell him anything? They were friends right? Why couldn't he tell him..?! It bpiled him up inside but he didn't know why.

  • Author

Riku watched him run away with a forlorn look but didn't stop him. Instead, he followed him in a slow walk towards where Sora ran off. He knew he was upset but how was he supposed to help that. He'd rather Sora think he was keeping secrets then have him think of how much of a horrible person he was for hating Kairi just a bit.

Sighing deeply, he picked himself into a run, rolling his eyes.

"Sora, wait!"

Sora ran faster, not paying attention to Riku. He ran faster, horrible thoughts coming to his mind. He felt tears forming in his eyes and ran to the loneliest part of the shore. He stopped and fell to his knees, tears flowing. He felt his face get hot and his lip quiver.

"Riku's mad at me...."

  • Author

Riku was losing his breath but sprinted faster. He wasn't blind, he could see Sora's shoulders shaking. And even when he slumped to the ground Riku didn't admit failure. In fact it made him run faster, only stopping as he lingered behind Sora by a foot or so. He could hear him holding in his sobs and sighed.

"Sora...I'm not mad at you...just irritated is all." He came a scant inch behind him, keeping dead calm.

Sora gritted his teeth.

"Then? What are you 'irritated' at, Riku? What are you so bothered about that you can't tell me?! I want to

know! We're friends, Riku!"

Sora couldn't help letting out his sobs anymore. It was too much.
