Namine felt the phone slide away from her fingers. She felt so emptyhanded and careless. Namine wanted to stand up and yell at the man, but behaving like that wasn't in her nature. She was too kind for that. Instead, she just lowered her head and put on a sad expression. Namine looked at Vanitas across the room and smiled weakly, shrugging her shoulders.

 

She wanted to know what he was going to ask...

Xigbar stuffed the phone in one of the drawers of his desk and started lecturing, not without a quick speech about phones in his classroom.

 

After that he continued to teach, noticing that Vanitas looked very annoyed and pissed off with him. He wanted to laugh. Those two were probably texting each other. Young love, how cute. Not.

Namine frowned. Slowly, she leaned over in her chair, trying to do her best with concentrating on her work. Occasionally, she snuck a quick look at Vanitas. She chatted with Demyx a bit too, trying to let the time go by. Namine didn't know when she'd get her phone back, but she just wanted it to be lunch.

 

She slumped in her chair, bored out of her wits.

Riku caught Vanitas and Namine seeking glances of each other. Vanitas was just making it too easy for Riku to tease him.

 

"Namine keeps looking over here you know," Riku whispered to Vanitas who seemed distracted.

 

His best friend blushed. Almost. But still, that just suprised Riku. He really did like Namine.

 

Vanitas ignored Riku's statement, trying to make it seem like he didn't care but he did.

 

He wanted to apologize for getting her phone taken away. It was kind of his fault after all.

 

Though, he was a little scared to, thinking she would ask him about what he wanted to ask her. No way, Vanitas already knew he wouldn't be able to ask her out face to face. He'd freak or panic. Whatever came first.

Axel heard the bell ring and it, very rudely, woke him. He tossed and turned, groaning.

 

"SHUT THE F*CK UP!!" He yelled, covering his face with his pillow. He felt worse and worse by the minute, it seemed. He was already sweating and his head hurt. That bell didn't do him favors either.

Namine jumped at the sound of the bell but quickly rushed to get her things. She would have to meet with Riku now. There was only one thing that prevented that.

 

She forgot to tell Sora.

 

Slowly, she walked over to Riku's area and smiled. "Uhm. Turns out we can't meet up today, Riku. I have to meet someone. Sorry." She gave a shy glance to Vanitas and waved goodbye very low, blushing.

Roxas had arrived on campus just as the bell rang and the students scattered through the hallways, yelling and meeting with their friends.

 

While getting medicine for Axel (which he got out of the goodness of his heart as well as not putting up with a sick and most likely in a bad mood Axel) he stopped at a McDonalds and got a quick bite to eat so he wouldn't starve.

 

He went to his dorm, opening the door slowly, wondering if maybe Axel was asleep and not wanting to wake him.

 

Riku smiled. So he would get to spend lunch with Aqua again.

 

"It's alright, we'll meet up tomorrow then, since you got that thing with Xigbar after school." He waved goodbye as he started to head over to Aqua's classroom.

 

Vanitas had no idea what he should do. Basically he was going to be alone. Riku was going to ditch him to stalk his beloved Art teacher and Namine was heading off with Sora again, and since last week he didn't feel like tagging along and making it uncomfortable for all of them.

 

The past week, he actually just either visited Riku or stayed in his dorm for lunch. But with Riku out of the hospital and going off with Aqua, he was basically going to be alone. And for a while. He should've made more friends. Of course, most people were asshats he knew, so that didn't work either.

Axel heard someone enter the room. He didn't care who it was at this point. He really couldn't care less. Axel brought the blanket over his head and frowned.

 

"What do you want..?!" He growled.

 

Namine thought it was quite rude of her to leave Vanitas so alone like that. She thought it'd probably be wierd for Vanitas to hang around with Riku after his absence.

While she was halfway down the hall, she paused. Namine bit her lip. She turned on her heel and ran back to the classroom. Luckily, Vanitas was still there. Blushing madly but trying to be brave, she grabbed Vanitas' hand and led him out of the classroom.

 

"I just need to go tell Sora something."

Roxas wasn't suprised by Axel's reaction but that didn't mean he didn't get a little scared.

 

"I just wanted to see how you were doing..."

 

Vanitas didn't have time to react to getting suddenly abducted by Namine. Well not abudcted but apparently he was going where ever she was. Not that he minded.

 

But apparently they were going to see his brother. What did Namine want to tell him?

 

Riku knocked on Aqua's door, like he had done the week before. Was spending his lunch with Aqua going to a habit? Hopefully.

Axel's eyes widened. He shifted in his bed before turning around to face the blonde.

 

"Roxas..? Oh....Sorry..."

 

Namine pushed through the crowds of people, pulling Vanitas along. Once she got to the gate, she noticed Sora talking to his friend Tidus. She ran up to him and pulled Vanitas with her.

 

"Sora. I think I'll be with Vanitas for today."

 

Sora looked down at Namine's hand and noticed that she was holding on, rather gingerly, to his brother's hand. He gave her a smirk and raised an eyebrow. He was quite satisfied at her reaction. She pulled away and blushed darkly.

 

"S-Sorry."

 

"It's okay. I was gonna play soccer with Tidus anyway. Later, guys!"

"It's okay." Roxas stepped into the room, shutting the door behind him. "I just wanted to make sure you weren't dying or anything." He laughed.

 

What the... Since when had anyone ever actually express the desire to be with Vanitas? That was just a concept Vanitas failed to grasp. Namine and him.... alone?

Axel groaned. "My head is just splitting open with this fever. I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure I'm dying," he joked, smirking. However, it did hurt like he was dying. The fever was making it hard for him to stay still and his head didn't want to hear anything at the moment.

 

"You should go get something to eat.... It's lunch now, right..?"

Namine stood there, uncertain of what to do next. She turned and faced Vanitas.

 

"So do you want to go eat somewhere or....what? We'll do anything you want."

"I'm pretty sure you'll live." Roxas sighed.

"Yeah, but I already ate. By the way, I brought you some medicine."

 

"Whatever is fine. I really don't have any clue of what to do," Vanitas chuckled, shyly.

 

"I hope I'm not bothering you," Riku said as he walked into the classroom, a smile on his face.

Axel frowned but took it. "I can take care of myself you know. You didn't have to spend money on me." He said, feeling guilty. He never liked anyone giving him things.

Namine raised an eyebrow. "You're no help at picking stuff to do, y'know that?" She laughed, walking over to her car. She got in and started it. Namine sat back in her chair and motioned for Vanitas to come inside too.

 

"Well, we'll just go to the store and buy a snack. Then we'll go to the park and eat it there. Sound good?"

Aqua had just finished talking to a brunette from her last class. She walked out and Aqua waved goodbye.

"Not at all Riku. I just had to finish talking to Selphie about using her cellphone. Something troubling you?"

"It's fine. It's what friends do after all." Roxas smiled. He wasn't some asshole who didn't give a crap about anyone and only cared for himself. Yes, Roxas did care about others, even if it is suprising. So of course he didn't mind spending some money on getting Axel medicine.

 

Yeah Vanitas was no help. He was completely out of it, totally unlike his usual self and it was all Namine's fault. Okay, maybe that was too harsh but still.

 

He sat in the passenger seat, listening to Namine's suggestion.

 

"Sure that sounds great."

 

"Oh nothings bothering me... I just wanted to come see you."

Axel sipped a bit of medicine and cringed. Disgusting. He set it aside and decided he wasn't drinking that sh*t. He looked at Roxas. "Hey, uh, thanks."

He layed down again, feeling his headache worsen.

 

Namine drove away, driving down the street. She drove down to the 7/11 on the corner and got out. As she went inside, all she got was an ice tea and a muffin.

 

"Want anything?"

 

Aqua smiled. "That's sweet Riku. SO, I'm assuming you're not hungry today?"

Roxas scowled.

"I didn't go to the trouble of buying the medicine if you weren't going to take it."

 

Vanitas grabbed a soda, Dr. Pepper, and a bag of Doritos.

"Let me pay this time," he said, taking out his wallet with a smile on his face.

He handed the money to the cashier, paying for Namine's iced tea and muffin and his own stuff.

 

"Actually, I am kind of hungry, and I was wondering..." Riku looked at the floor shyly. "I was wondering if you'd like to join me to go out for lunch." Sure, it was an indirect way of asking Aqua out, and technically it wasn't a date or anything, and maybe she'd even turn him down. But it was worth a shot.

Axel put on a hurt face. "But....but it tastes like crap...." He honestly didnt want to drink it. No. There was no way he'd drink it. He shivered at the thought.

 

Namine couldn't believe her eyes. He....She didnt even have to say anything... Namine walked towards Vanitas and smiled sweetly. She took his hand in hers and put her head on his shoulder.

 

"Thank you for being polite, but it wasn't necessary."

 

Aqua didnt know what to say. So, she laughed. "Riku, you should know better than ask our professor on a date. But in any case, sure. I'd love to."

"So?" Roxas was not going argue with Axel. No way. "Unless you wanna be sick for weeks, drink it." Roxas pour it down the redhead's throat if he had to. Though, he didn't want to.

 

Vanitas's heart could've stopped at that moment and it would've been fine. Again, exageration, but seriously, he couldn't keep from smiling if he tried.

 

"I-It's no problem. I don't mind paying," was all Vanitas could say though.

 

Riku's face turned completely red in embarrassment. After he cooled down, he looked up at Aqua and smiled.

"Where would you like to go? My treat."

Axel smirked. Although he didn't want to be sick for weeks, it satisfied him to have Roxas show some emotion. In the past week, they had hardly talked to each other so it was a new experience."I'm cool with that. It'll get me out of class won't it? Besides, I-"

 

He stopped. Wait, why was he trying to make Roxas mad? It'd be much more fun for it to be embarrassment.

 

"I'll drink it if you feed it to me." He grinned.

 

Namine just laughed and seperated herself from him. This guy. He was something else. She got in her car again, Waiting for Vanitas so they could go to the park.

 

Aqua smiled. "Anywhere is fine. I'd be happy if it's with you. But, you wouldn't have to pay by yourself Riku. I am a teacher. I can help."

Did he just...? Roxas face went red. No he was not embarrassed! He was annoyed! Yeah, that was it...

 

"I will not!" Roxas scowled, his face still red. "You're not a little kid!"

 

Vanitas got back into Namine's car, a little sad that she had let go of his hand.

 

Riku would've blushed even more if possible. Aqua was happy if she was with him? Did he hear that correctly?

"Well should I drive us, or would you like to do that?" Riku chuckled.

Axel smirked dangerously. "Awh, c'mon Roxas! You came here to help me, right? Nuture me back to health? Then do exactly that..." He opened his mouth in an "Ahhh" position.

 

Oh, this was fun.

When they arrived at the park, Namine saw Sora and Tidus, along with some other people, playing soccer. She didn't go with them though. She was happy here, with him.

 

"Let's go sit over there." She said, pointing under a low tree.

"Well, considering that I have no idea where we are eating, I think you should drive." She said, smiling. She got her keys for the room and straightened out her clothes.

 

"Let's go, Riku."

Hell no. Roxas was not going to this. He was about a second away from smackng Axel upside the head and then storming out. He might just do the second part.

 

"No way!"

 

Vanitas saw his younger brother playing soccer with some other random hooligan. Yes, Vanitas used the word hooligan. Bite him.

 

"Sure." Who knows where Vanitas got the balls to actually hold Namine's hand, leading to her the spot where she wanted to sit. He did it and that was that.

 

And yes he was proud.

 

With a smile, he walked with Aqua.

 

She called it a date and even though that had embarrassed Riku, it made happy at the same time.

 

He walked out to the front, around the area where he parked his car,still staying close to Aqua, just because he wanted to.

 

They got to his car and the first thing Riku was hold open the passenger door for Aqua.

 

Chilvary wasn't dead yet.

Idiot move? Yes.

 

Axel sighed. "Can't say I didn't try." Axel took the bottle in his hand and smiled. He knew it'd taste sh*tty. He knew he'd hate it. But he'd do it.

 

For Roxas.

 

After gagging for a few of minutes, the dosage he had to take was finished.

Namine felt butterflies in her stomach. Vanitas had held her hand. She didn't have to. He did it on his own...

She sat down and brought down Vanitas too, still holding his hand. She leaned on his shoulder.

 

"Before I had my phone taken... What were you going to ask..?"

Aqua was surprised. No one had done anything like that before... She couldn't help but blush.

 

"Th-thank you." she said, getting in.

Score one for Roxas. He smiled smugly.

 

"I think I'll probably go now so you can get some rest..."

 

Vanitas still didn't have the balls to ask her out. He stuttered, trying to figure out what to say.

 

"I-I was going to ask if..." Vanitas wished this was some cheesy sitcom or whatever. By now someone would've interrupted and saved him. What happened to the confident and badass Vanitas he used to be?

 

"I wanted to know if you would like to..." He bit his lip. If he didn't ask now he never would.

 

"I wanted to ask you out."

 

"You're welcome." Riku got into the driver seat, starting the car. He already knew where he would take her. A little pricey but Aqua was worth it.

Axel's face fell. He felt bad, then better, than worse than before.

 

"Well, okay. Sorry you had to miss your lunch." Axel said. He stood and got out of bed. Axel walked closer to Roxas and put a hand to Roxas' forehead and moving the strands of hair. Then, slowly, he kissed Roxas' forehead lightly.

Namine's widened. She looked away, hiding her flushed face. Namine suddenly let go of Vanitas' hand, feeling uncomfortable touching any part of him.

 

He liked her...? Or was she just another chick he'd throw away and get tired of a week after? Namine didn't want to think of that so she just shook the idea out. She tried to speak but nothing came.

 

"Oh." was all she could manage.

 

Aqua got in the car and sat back. She laughed a little when Riku started the car.

"People will think it's odd if they see me in my students car at lunchtime, you know."
