hey guys. can someone explain to me the final fantsy vii story in a nutshell?

not crissis or dirg of advent. just vii. (probably gunna get rude comments because i dont know something but oh well)

you won't get bad comments, i don't know the story of it either (i bought it off PSN, but haven't been able to really get into it yet)

Alright you are an ex-Soldier Mercenary named Cloud Strife, You're hired by Avalanche (a terrorist group) to help them bring down the government of Midgar(Shinra, they believe that the use of Mako Reactors, is killing the planet by sucking life out of the lifestream, as the plot progresses they find that the president of Shinra was murdered by the apparent Sephiroth, who was believed dead. Cloud and his new allys

flee midgar and travel around to try and track down Sephiroth since they believe his own intentions are more dangerous than ShinRa's. During the whole time Cloud is questioning his past and if it really happenned or not. Eventually it turns out that his friend Aerith is an ancient(A race on the planet that was believed extinct), and that Sephiroth is attempting to destroy the planet using meteor, in hopes to become a god by merging the lifestream with himself. Aerith believes she can stop meteor and goes to the city of the ancients, but before she can do so, Sephiroth kills her. They leave and Sephiroth tricks cloud into believing he's a copy of Sephiroth. Cloud get's into a coma, he's watched by his friend Tifa whom he knew as a child. Tifa finally helps cloud understand his past, that he was never in soldier, he was actually an Shinra infantryman, that he and Tifa never really knew eachother much, and that he actually did defeat Sephiroth in a suprise attack years ago when Sephiroth burned his home town town and hurt Tifa. Cloud and friends then proceed to collect materia titled big materia(I think) in hopes to stop meteor. It didn't work but they finally found Sephiroth's hiding place, Northern Caves, After miles of traversing down and facing many monsters. Cloud and friends find and defeat Sephiroth, then Holy(A spell Aerith was using to stop meteor right before she died hapenned and helped protect the planet. The game ends with Cloud and his friends watching meteor and holy impact on eachother.

 

 

Yeah I cut out some stuff from the story(such as some events, and character development), but that's basically what happens.

Cloud and friends find and defeat Sephiroth, they couldn't stop meteor and basically it just ends there.

 

Actually before Aerith died she used the White Materia to pray for help from the planet (then Sephorith killed her). But the after they fight and defeat Sephorith, the Lifestream stops Meteor's impact with the planet but left Midgar in ruins.
