Pretty much, shit's been going down in Sudan due to huge cultural and geographical differences between the north and south ( Here's a rough outline of the differences, courtesy of BBC) and they decided to hold a referendum over whether Southern Sudan should become independent or not. The outcome is largely expected to be pro-independence. However, 60% of registered voters must participate in order for the result to be valid.
