Is being Gay/Bi a choice or are you born with it?

Posted

Ah one of the major debates of the 21st century. I'm surprised that I didn't find this thread already when searching for it.

So is it a choice or are people born with it? I'm straight so I wouldn't know very well. My guess is that your born with it because I know several guys who were very effeminate ("girly") when they were young and later turned out to be Gay/Bi.

What do you think. Please take the poll and leave your thoughts.

Is it a choice? Or are you born with it? 2 members have voted

    • I was born with it so you're born with it.

    • I made a choice one day so it is a choice.

Correction:Everyone is born BISEXUAL.

Actually, I don't believe that. I don't believe that everyone is born gay, or everyone is born straight, or everyone is born bisexual. Since I mean, everyone is different so some people are born straight, others gay, and ect.

Rosie: That's pretty much what I would have said.

And I simpley dissagree with the both of you. the point i;m trying to make is its a mystery to me. I don;t think you Choose to be gay. You are who you are. while learning about yourself. I mean Koko Did You choose to be Bi? Were you born that way? hoenstly i think its a more of a journey for others, they could think they are straight or gay but don't know.

i'm going to shorten the point made in my previous post:

you are not born gay, straight, bisexual, ANYTHING.

in later life you start to get those sorts of feelings, thats when you realise.

i completely disagree that you are born gay, but i do agree that it is your own nature/instinct as you grow up.

you obviously did not read a thing i typed rue. i kno you dont choose to be gay or whatevr. im disagreeng with the point tha everyone is born gay/bisexual/straight and then 'change' or 'learn' as they grow up.

I think its a matter of environmen and personal ideals. Me, I like men because I do, there are attractive women but I already have my sights set out for one guy. I don't think I'll get him though. :

We all have a different and unique genetic make up (DNA). Our DNA kinda sets it stone how we'll grow, what we will be like, how we will look, what/whom we like; however, environment also plays a role more as a nature vs. nurture thing. When we are born, our mind is pretty much blank (but not as much because our mind was still taking in information when we were in the womb) and it goes by instincts and and environmental changes of what we learn and how we act. The environment is basically an enhancer of what we already are, it enhances our features and what we like, etc.

I honestly think it depends on the DNA and environment because it plays a role in a person's decisions, maybe through experience a person may find out that they actually liked girls more than guys or vice versa? I think it's all on genetic make up and how the person perceives things because we all process things differently and intake information or experiences in individual ways.... meh

But Lady Gaga said I was born this way!

yes, but lady gaga is a special case.

I think I was born with it. I mean, my parents always told me I have always loved doing what the boys love, and I remember having crushes on my cute pre-school teachers (which may be weird). So, yeah. Actually, it would be pretty weird for me if I acted girly, unlike other homosexuals who can easily act straight.

actually, i had an RS lesson, and found out something quite interesting in a video we watched.

there is actually a gene, in the fertilised egg cell that turns into you, that does control homosexuality.

so i'm going to change my previous view and say that you are born gay or whatever you are, but how you grow up probably adds an element into it as well. you might be able to go against that gene.
