I have to write a short argumentative essay pretty soon here, and I need a topic. Any suggestions? It needs to be a narrow topic, like no abortion, no illegal immigration, no legalizing marijuana, nothing like that. An example that the instructor gave was "Should there be camera's taking peoples pictures as they run red lights?". Short, sweet, and arguable. Thanks.

Well, you mention the camera's thing and I think of the debate over airport security so that could be a topic. Eh, I can't really think of anything else

I didn't think of the airport thing, not a bad idea, but its a bit too broad. To make an argument on that I'd have to go into privacy, safety, morals and religion, racial profiling, and the fact that some people want it and some people don't.

What about banning the use of animals in circus performances? I did that for an essay in my public speaking class last year.
