October 18, 201114 yr Author THE SANDSTORMOnce you realize what the world truly is you can find the strength to overcome it. My name is Jake Storm, which the last name storm is nothing but irony. My story begins on the night before the powerful sandstorm in 1999, the night I last saw my dad.Chapter 1: The Night before the StormFor most of my life, I only had my dad for family and his brother Max Williams. Max had his last name changed to prevent any media from hounding us down. My dad was a researcher who was about to Egypt the night before the storm.“Jake, do you have everything you need?” Dad asked. “I think so. Why do have to go? Why can’t you get someone else to do it?” I said. “Jake, I have to do this. I have been searching my entire life for the chaos stone, and we think we have just found it. Besides, I’ll be back to two days.” Dad said with a smile. I know that smile though, it was the same smile he had whenever he thought about my mom. “Jake, I want you to have this. It is the compass of truth. If I never come home, you just use this and you will be able to find me.” Dad said while handing me the compass. I then put the strap around my neck. “Dad, please be careful.” I said with a tear. “I will. I will come home with the chaos stone and be able to show you what makes it special, just like you.” Dad said while wiping the tear away. And just like that Dad walked out of the room, leaving me all alone. “So you think you will come home?” Max asked Dad.“I don’t know. If I don’t I want you to look after Jake for me. I just hate having to see him like this.” Dad said.“I will. He is my nephew after all. But, why is it you need the stone so badly?” Max asked.“It has powers. I can’t tell you what they are because even I don’t know. That what makes the stone worth it all,” Dad said, “Now just keep Jake safe.” Dad stated.“I always do. Just you be very careful yourself.” Max said as Dad walked out the front door never to heard from again. One week later, “Good Morning, our top headline for today is one week ago there was a terrible sandstorm in Egypt causing millions of indents and hundreds of disappearances including world famous researcher, David Storm” the newsperson stated.“Dad? DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, no dad,” I screamed out in pain. The thing I knew Max was in the room trying to calm me down. He hugged me so tight I tried to escape, which only made things worse. “Jake, calm down, its o,” I cut him off, “How can you say it okay when it’s not, Dad is out there lost and/or dead, and no one knows where he is. “Jake, you need to calm down there is nothing we can…. Wait his phone, he took his phone.” Max tried to find his phone and then he made a call to dad’s phone. “Hello, this is David Storm, the one and only, I can’t come to the phone right now. Please leave a message, and I will call you back. Beep.” The voice answering machine claimed. “I’m sorry Jake. Hey, you still have me you know. I’m your uncle.” Max said. “That’s right you are who I still have left.” I said.
