Posted November 27, 201113 yr So, is pig-latin consider a real language? Or is it just a fake language? I'm asking because some people say it's a real language and others have said it's not an actual language.
November 27, 201113 yr Author I'm guessing there's some truth to it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_Latin You DO realize wikiapedia is the least reliable source of information right? Anyone on there can change thing on wikipedia

November 27, 201113 yr Here's one of the sources I found on the page that specifically mentions pig latin: http://www.allwords.com/query.php?SearchType=3&Keyword=ixnay&goquery=Find+it%21&Language=ENG
November 27, 201113 yr I would say it's a sub-language, if such a thing were to exist. You have to know English to speak it, but I wouldn't say that it's not a language at all either. So it gets its own category.

So I guess it kinda goes with just the Latin language itself. But wanted to ask to see what other people's opinions were on that.

The fact that it's dead doesn't make it a fake language or a "sub-language" like Pig Latin...
November 27, 201113 yr I dont think it's an actual language since no country uses it, but you do need to know English to speak it
November 27, 201113 yr No it isn't a true language. No people in the world speak it regularly. Its just screwing with the letters of English and attaching an ending. Exactly my point. People have stated that it's somewhat of a sub-language. But isn't a true langauage at all by itself. So I guess it kinda goes with just the Latin language itself. But wanted to ask to see what other people's opinions were on that. Oh and Latin is a language not a sub language by the way. Im taking Latin currently so it is not a sub language of a false language
November 27, 201113 yr No, I don't believe it is considered a real language. At least I don't, and I can speak it pretty easily. All you really do is rearrange letters and add an ending like this: Onay, Ihay oday otnay elievebay ithay ishay onsideredcay ahay ealray anguagelay. Athay eastlay Ihay oday otnay, andhay Ihay ancay eakspay ithay ettypray easilyhay. Allhay ouya eallyray oday ishay earrangeray etterslay andhay addhay anhay endinghay ikelay isthay.

I'm just saying that Pig-latin is a side language for Latin.
