In a world unknown to humankind, the Ra'akel or Raven People lived a life of happiness. when children became fledglings , they would leave the great world to the human realm. One day, the realm of the Hawk'uree or Hawk People discovered a Ra'akian Fledgeling land close to their home, and it was seen as a warning, or a threat, and they traced the scent trail of the fledgling back to the Raven Realm, and they destroyed it. All that remain of the Ra'akel are the fledglings.

Haw'karra's gaze shifted toward Ra'jah "No home to go back to....it leaves you with nothing but that word..." he sits up and looks her dead in the eye. He does not try anything. Doesn't even think of harming anything, and in his eyes, insanity has either worsened or dissipated "..Helpless.." he looks at her for a moment and then averts his eyes "I see.." he thinks for a moment and asks her "Do you pity me, raven, or does your hatred toward me slaughter the mere thought of trying to?"

Ra'jah looked down. I'm crazy to think this but, maybe the hawks have good in them, she thought to herself looking back at Haw'karra. She put her hand on his shoulder.

" I don't know." Was all she could think to say. I don't know She repeated her mind. She sat cross-legged infront of him in the grass. A slight breeze blowly her hair softly to the side. She lifted up her head and breathed in the air. The army of hawks was long gone by now.

Haw'karra looks intrigued, like a young child who learned a new thing that seemed alien to him. "I don't know..." he echoed aloud and looked up were she looked.

She doesn't know... he thought. he mirrored her and put his hand on her opposite shoulder "I don't know either. I don't know anything anymore. I thought that I was the powerful one, when truly I was not. I don't know If I'm good, or evil; If I'm Weak or not; Whether you hate me or pity my insanity. That is what I want to know: I want to know who in the world I am!" he says, a sincere and slightly kind expression.

I quitely walk away. "Now to find some herbs." I say quitely. I walk a little ways. I search the ground looking for herbs. "I'll need a lot." I say to myself. My fingers quickly search the area. I look around to find another patch of grass that look okay. I sigh. As I look I notice that all of the area could have herbs. I faceplam. Clam I reminded myself.

Haw'ray held his side and usuing the tree for support stood up. I don't have time for this. He decided looking around for a way to dissapear before the girl looking for herbs came back. He winced as he walked forward.

______________

Ra'jah smiled a little.

" Your who ever you want to be." She said looking straight back at him. She hadn't really done anything like this before she always just hid and ran away from her troubles. She couldn't imagine what he was feeling.

"Hmmmm herbs, herbs, herbs." I say. I look around know that I'll need some help. "I wounder?" I say as I spot something odd. "Maybe." I say walking over to it. "I may have just did it." I say happily.

Haw'ray ignores the raven and other hawk. He takes off his shirt and wraps it tightly around his waist as a make-shift bandage. Why i have even stayed this long is a mystery. He tells himself.

Haw'karra looks as if a puzzle has been set before him. No-one had ever smiled at him since he was a child. The corners of his mouth twitched upward to smiles back. Then...he remembered....

During the Raven realm's destruction, he had killed a woman. in her last few moments, she smiled at him "You're confused..." she said to him, and he was certainly confused. Why, in death's reach, would a victim smile at him? The woman gave him a small sheet of paper. "I forgive you..." were her last words. That was when he went berserk. He had never read the paper before, as he expected the Ravens to fight back. They knew fear. They knew love. They knew peace, but not one raven they'd killed knew anger or pain.

Haw'karra opens a small pouch and takes out the small paper, and on the back of it was the emblem of the raven with a twig through it.

"My Son,

You left me long ago, saying words of hatred and awful threats toward me, but as a young one, you were my pride and joy.

I know no disappointment toward you, dear, but you hurt me. You shunned me, and by now, you have forgotten me. I am to come and search for you when the hawks come, because I know you'll be there. You are your father's child, and it would be no different than you as a soldier. If I am to die, I want it to be by a hand that I know and love.

You, Haw'karra, my boy, are a raven,

but also a hawk...

...and I forgive you. ~ Mother" Haw'karra read aloud and looked to Ra'jah with horrified eyes. Suddenly, he throws the letter to the ground and walks to his detached wings. There, he sees a simple hawk's wing, brown. What he'd over looked before that he saw now what no other than a black feather.

Ra'jah watched him. How is that possible? She asked herself, she couldn't bare to look at the wings on the ground so she picked up the letter. She reread it three times over.

"It can't be." She muttered searching it for something, just one clue to confirm what she thought was impossible.

" no no no." Was all she could mutter Ra'jah sat stiff completely paralyzed. She looked at Haw'karra, He even looks like her She thought her eyes widening.

Haw'karra grasps the black feather tightly, mangling it in his hands , but the his grip goes softer "So that's why...I never fit in with the others.." he looks down. She didn't smile out of selfishness, or final peace. he thought. She smiled out of the happiness of seeing her...son... "And that's why I'm so confused.." He looked to the shocked Ra'jah and mirrors her frantic expression "You..." he looked her in the eyes "I know you..."

"You were with her all the while. Always sneaking up behind me, or wanting to play a game with me" His gaze calms "I know you." he repeats, bewildered.

Tears started streaming down Ra'jah's cheeks.

" You... your." She clutched the letter tightly in her fist.

" You killed mother!" Ra'jah screamed at him. She stood up shaking her head not wanting to believe it.

" Ra'hun ... how could you?" She asked tears still falling as she backed away from him.

Haw'harra's face falls as his own sister cried before him. "I-I didn't know! I was a soldier to the Hawk'uree, I didn't even know who--WHAT I was! I--" he was cut off by something painful - his name. His real name. "I couldn't remember you, mother - or even myself, and I don't know why! Please!" tears fell from his chin "Mother forgave me, can you not do the same?"

" I...." Ra'jah remembered everything, she never fogot the day her brother left them. She sank back to the ground hiding her face in her hands. Tears slipped through her fingers as she mourned her mother now that her death actually felt real. Her killer was right infront of her but she couldn't do anything.

" I'm sorry mom I'm so sorry.." She mummbled shaking her head. She took a deep breath and looked up at Ra'hun.

" I don't know if I can."

Ra'hun's concerned expression fades to a small smile "That's your answer to everything, Ra'jah. 'I don't know.' 'I don't know' what came over me. 'I don't know' why I didn't remember Mother. I KNOW you..." the smile fades again "and I know that I'll never be accepted again."

Ra'jah ran up and hugged Ra'hun.

" I missed you when you left." She said quietly wishing he would have just stayed.

" Mom wasn't the same after, she was always sad, never smiled." Ra'jah said recalling the memory. Tears fell faster down her face, she held onto Ra'hun tightly not wanting to let go.

Ra'hun blinks, surprised at the sudden change in nature, and he put his arms around her as well "I'm sorry, Ra'jah. I didn't mean to hurt you so much." he thought for moment "Sis....Help me remember, please. I want to know." His father neglected him so when he'd left his family. If there was any interaction between the two, it was talking about how much of a disappointment he was to his own father. "I want to remember a life without my father. What was it like with yours?"

Ra'den heard nothing but the silent chirping of the birds. He wondered how long things would go on like this, before a war between the ravens and hawks would start.

Ra'jah stepped back and looked at him.

" Well he... wasn't really there. It was just us three." She said quietly.

" Mom always did everything making sure we were ok, I was too young to realize but you were always trying to help. After you left though, everything changed." Ra'jah looked down a little.

Ra'hun looked confused "Why did I leave you and mother?" he asked, completely unsure why he would leave such a family.

*flashback* Ra'hun was yelling at Ra'zel, their mother "Why do you keep me here? Why don't you let me see my father?" Ra'zel answered calmly "Because he hated you, ever since you were born. you were his 'mistake' but I knew you would bring peace one day" Ra'hun screamed "How would you know anything, you witch?! You don't know me! All you did was give birth to me." He went out of their small hut, his sister waiting there for him, looking at him with hopeful eyes "Don't worry, Ra'jah. I'll be back again one day. I promise." He smiled warmly to little Ra'jah "Take care of mother while I'm gone, okay, pest?" Before she could answer, Ra'hun flew off to see his father, not knowing the harm he caused for them both. *end*

Ra'hun blinks out of remembrance "Ohh..." he put a hand on his head "What a fool I was..."

Ra'jah tilted her head a little.

" You ok?" She asks, Ra'jah was so little she could barely remember what happened the night that he left. She could remembr calling after him though.

Ra'hun nods slowly "I kept my promise to you...but not in the way that I meant."

Ra'den heard tge rustle of leaves. He sat up and looked at the forest, his eyes hardening into a cold stare. He slowly stood up, and held his small pocketknife in his hands.

Ra'jah smiled a little.

" So what are we going to do?" She asked looking around for her knew raven friend. What will she think of this? She wondered gazing into the trees. Then she saw what looked like a hawk stumbling into view. (Haw'ray)

" I thought you had all your troops leave." Ra'jah said quietly pointing.

___________

Haw'ray finally made it to the tree line and stumbled almost falling over a large branch. He cursed under his breath and looked around. He saw Haw'karra and that raven girl's friend.

" Oh no..." He said quietly to himself.

Ra'hun quickly followed his sister and stops in his tracks when he sees Haw'ray, hiding quickly behind a tree. He didn't know how to deal with the hawks now. In his mind, he was a young child again, re-learning his life. Why would he cower at the sight of a hawk? Mostly because this one hated from each end of his very soul.

Ra'jah looked curiously at the hawk, he seemed to be injured.

" Ra'hun i think this guy is hurt." She said quietly.

___________

Haw'ray looked around deciding if he should walk over to them or not. He didn't want to have to fight while injured, but the pain was fadeing so if it came ot that he could. Haw'ray shook his head to clear his thoughts and walked further into the clearing holding his hand over his stomach hiding his injury as much as he could.
