If you play KH (first one) then you now that Keychain are only special ability that you can attach to The Keyblade. But it's a good quastian.

They have it all of a sudden because back when they showed the FM+ secret ending, they didn't know what the Keychain should look like, so they decided not to give them one. It's been a few years now, and they've finally thought of one, so they add it as an update. It's like how the Keyblades change. It's just update.
