Tornado Outbreak and help for explaining.

Posted

Well I have been hearing about the tornado outbreak over a few days and did not bother to search it up. Well due to some videos I saw in youtube, I began to research about it and noticed it travels fast and about F4 and F5 tornadoes are being made around mid-west USA. Now I have also read that its possible to get high wind (again) through out tomorrow and the next day. Saturday is about to get worse than last week and I am wondering, is it even possible for a strong tornado to form in NY? Not only that, but is this tornado going to form around Manhattan at all? I am asking this because of Hurricane Irene and while the wind was around 60-70 mph, and tornado was about to be created in front of our house and we were just frightened by the minute. Also the tornado last year (I think around May or March?) about the Alabama Tornado was about to form around our school, until the funnel stop. Id like too know if its going to occur here. Also if anyone is in this tornado's path I hope nothing bad happens to you. I get interested and curious about this. Thanks for reading! ^-^ (btw I know it is far, but there is still high wind warnings and tornado exaggerations, and I needed to know if it is true or not)

Tornados form in certain climate zones only, it would seem. Hurricanes are tornados aren't the same, as hurricanes start out at sea. Usually both form over areas with relatively flat ground. Areas with mountains can have hurricanes sneak up on them from the coast, but tornados won't start there, no.

I live in Washington state on the pacific coast of the U.S. and we don't get tornados here at all. If it's a really hot, dry summer sometimes we'll get good sized 'dust devils', though. And they can get quite large and lift light things into the air, but usually coming in contact with a single tree or building destroys them. We have more to worry about from earthquakes where I live than tornados. =/ I feel for the middle of the country, though. I've got relatives in Iowa and they're stuck with tornados almost every year without fail.

Winds are still dying down here from a tornado here near Cincinnati, winds from the storm got up to 100 mph. Moscow and some areas in Indiana and Kentucky were destroyed.

I like wind but not that much... tornadoes aren't that normal around here T_T

I live in North Carolina so I can get both of them. Right now we still have repairing from the Hurricane's that came last year. We are starting to get some nasty weather and unusual when it rains it's hard and it's getting windier as well. I believe some people are luckier than me and other here in North Carolina since we have the possibility of both getting us when given the right chances and events.

Pretty much what they said.

Hurricanes have the ability to produce Tornados, so there was a chance for that tornado to be formed in front of my house. Thanks for the help. ^-^
