However, that's YMX before a little fella named Ansem SoD came up and teached him about things and time travel.

Yeah that's him. But what I don't get is if Riku and YMX are realated.

I don't think so. They have kind of the same thinking, wanting to go other worlds and that Destiny islands is too small, but i think the fact is

 

Ansem SoD even said he chose Riku from the beginning, now, with time travel being explained, i understand what he said, that's why they're kinda related.

 

So I'm guessing MX used to live on Destiny Islands? If you watch the whole video, Riku explains to Terra that a kid left the islands, and Riku wants to do the same
