Fairy Tail - X791 Arc (7 Years later time-skip)

Posted

This Anime/Manga takes place after seven years gap when their comrades missing for so long.....(for anyone knows this anime/manga,beware of the spoilers...)and now,i'm doing a synopsis about this story of Fairy Tail 7 years post time-skip:

Chapter 1 : Year X791 - Fairy Tail

In Hargeon Town, seven years after the destruction of Tenrou Island, Romeo Conbolt, now branded with the mark of Fairy Tail and wearing clothes similar to Natsu's, stares at the sea while Alzack Connell and his wife, Bisca, watches over him, telling him that they should return to the guild or Macao will worry. Romeo agrees and turns his back on the ocean. Bisca tries to cheer him up but Alzack shakes his head, stopping her.

Meanwhile in the town of Magnolia, inside a tavern bearing the mark of Fairy Tail, the new master, Macao, expresses his worry about his son. His advisor, Wakaba, tells him to calm down, reminding him that he is no longer a kid. The two then begins to argue since Wakaba refuses to address Macao as "master". Since the destruction of Tenrou Island and the disappearance of the most powerful Mages of the guild, Fairy Tail is reduced into a small guild with a few job offers and only a few of its former members remaining. One of which is Laki Olietta who is picking on the now overweight Droy. Jet tries to discourage him from eating, using Levy's name, but Droy tells him that Levy is not coming back. These words are heard throughout the guild and everyone's smiles immediately vanishes.

Suddenly, five men enter the guild and begin to belittle the Mages. The atmosphere immediately turns hostile with Macao reminding the group that they are not welcome in their guild. The leader, Teebo, smirks and reminds him that he is talking to members of the guild that now represents Magnolia, Twilight Ogre. Teebo then reminds the guild about their payment for the month. Macao tells the group that they haven't had any job offers to make money to pay for the debt but promises to pay the group next month. Teebo then kicks Macao, sending him a short distance away. Seeing their master being attacked, the members of the guild prepare to attack but Macao tells them to stop. The Fairy Tail members stop and are forced to watch as the Twilight Ogre guild members trash their guild. The group then leaves with Teebo reminding the guild about their payment for next month.

With the members of the rival guild gone, the Fairy Tail members see Reedus' sketchbook littered on the floor, with the pages torn off. Everyone sees the pictures of their missing comrades and begins to cry. The group then recalls their desperate attempts to find their comrades seven years ago and the downfall of Fairy Tail. Wakaba then notices Macao crying and tries to cheer him up by saying that he did a good job as master but Macao begins to shake, remembering that Romeo hasn't smiled for the last seven years.

Suddenly, the guild hears a sound and goes outside to check, only to see Blue Pegasus Guild's Magic Bomber - Christina. Ichiya then jumps off Christina and greets the members of Fairy Tail. The other members of the Trimens then follow and immediately begin to flirt with Laki but stops when Ichiya told them to. The group then reveals they had detected something in the Eternano Waters surrounding Tenrou Island. Ichiya then says that Tenrou Island still exists.

Chapter 76 : Zodiac

Lucy continues to desperately pull on the lever beside the Eclipse Gate, attempting to shut it before any more Dragons can walk through it and into Crocus. As she struggles, Arcadios notes that her Celestial Spirit Magic power alone is not enough to seal the Gate. However, before they can despair, Mirajane and Yukino run into the courtyard from Mercurius, Yukino yelling that both she and Lucy need to combine their twelve Ecliptic Zodiac keys in order to seal the Gate. Lucy immediately agrees, and together the two throw their keys into the air, joining hands to chant and summon their Spirits all at the same time. As those watching stare on in awe, all twelve Ecliptic Zodiac are summoned, and waste no time flying straight at the Gate, using their strength to together push the Gate shut and seal it.

As soon as the Gate is shut, all those in the square begin to relax, though Arcadios quickly comments that some Dragons managed to make it through the Gate, and are currently terrorizing the town. As a guard from the army notes that seven are currently loose in the streets, the Future Rogue appears on the scene, berating Yukino and Lucy for having to get in the way, but also commenting that seven Dragons should be enough for his purposes. As everyone questions his intentions, the future Rogue raises his arms, and the seven Dragons suddenly appear at his side, Rogue declaring that the age of the Dragons wills soon begin. Commanding the seven Dragons to move out and kill all of those in the town, Lucy and her friends are shocked when the Dragons obey without hesitation, realizing that the Future Rogue somehow has control over the beasts. Revealing a new Magic he calls Dragon Manipulation Magic the Future Rogue sets one of the seven beasts on the group, the Dragon he sends to fight turning out to be none other than Zirconis.

Meanwhile, across Crocus, the groups of Mages stationed to protect the city finally come face to face with the Dragons. As they are battered and blown around by the sheer ferocity of the creatures, the Mages note just what little damage they are managing to inflict, and wonder if they have any hope at all of taking down the beasts.

Concurrently, Future Rogue flies over the city on another of the Dragons, ecstatic at the chaotic scene below him. Suddenly though, his attention is called to a tall tower in the city, where he spots a bloody and bruised Natsu glaring him down.

Chapter 77 : Seven Dragons

Having arrived at the battlefield Natsu is seen by Rogue from the future, who comments on him still being alive. Deciding to change that, he orders his Dragon to kill him, but Natsu is able to dodge and land on the Dragon, allowing him to engage Rogue in close combat. During their battle, Rogue instructs Natsu to look at the immense damage caused to the town, telling him nothing can be done on his part as it is all over. Furious, Natsu asks the man from the future what his goal is.

Meanwhile, the Fairy Tail Mages on the ground are unable to fight back effectively against the beasts, their strength being near to par with Acnologia. Surprised to see them alive, Atlas Flame asks if they are Mages, only to be answered by Makarov's attack, claiming to be Mages connected like a family. However, the attack is ineffective against the Dragon and Makarov's hand is injured in the process to the surprise of the Fairy Tail Mages, with Atlas Flame claiming that Humans will never defeat a Dragon.

Elsewhere, the Sabertooth Mages are having trouble against their own Dragon opponents, with Rogue Cheney telling Lector and Frosch to stay back. As Rufus asks about Rogue and Sting having killed a Dragon in the past, Sting reveals that Weisslogia asked for Sting to kill him in order to further his strength. Rogue similarly states that Skiadrum was ill and asked Rogue to kill him so as to end his suffering. Despite this, Orga insists on the two of them still using their Magic to fight, Sting acknowledging Dragons to be powerful while Rogue expresses the desire to protect his friends.

Future Rogue reveals that in the future, the Dragons which rule didn't come from the gate and explains that only Acnologia rules the world. With no guilds or Mages to fight, Rogue developed Dragon Manipulation Magic but it failed to work on Acnologia, further noting that only Dragons could beat the King of Dragons. Natsu theorizes this to be why he wanted the gate opened, with Rogue adding that he can become king if he beats Acnologia. Using his sense of smell, Natsu notes there to be 7 Dragons, with Rogue claiming 7 to be enough for his goals. Furious, Natsu attacks a Dragon and shouts to all in Crocus, telling them that Dragon Slayer Magic can defeat Dragons and with 7 slayers against 7 Dragons, they can attack them and win the battle which they were trained for.

Future Rogue asks Natsu if he counted the number right, believing seven to be inaccurate, though Natsu is convinced he is correct. Elsewhere, an exhausted Doranbolt returns with another person. Lahar tells the individual that the Dragons are attacking. Confirming the attack, Doranbolt claims they were forced to ask for his help, with the man he brought known as Cobra telling Natsu he can hear everything.

Chapter 78 : Zirconis' Magic

On top of the Future Rogue's circling Dragon, Natsu and the Dragon manipulator argue over whether Natsu and the other Dragon Slayers actually have the strength to take down the seven Dragons. With Natsu stating that he will do everything in his power to stop them, Future Rogue then orders his Dragon to launch an attack on those below, the Dragon releasing a flurry of eggs from it's belly which hatch open into smaller reptile-like creatures when they land. As those of Fairy Tail confronted by the creatures begin to panic, Laxus steps forward and attacks Atlas Flame, who receives damage from the blow. As Laxus states that he will confront Atlas whilst the others take out the smaller creatures, the Thunder God Tribe regroup, vowing to watch his back. From nearby, Gajeel agrees to go intercept one of the other Dragons.

Across town, Sabertooth begin to rethink their strategy in taking down the horned Dragon. Demanding that Rogue leave the beast to him and find another, Sting begins a much more powerful assault, whilst Rogue vows to leave the old Sabertooth behind and fight for his friends. Also fighting for their guild is Blue Pegasus, who note that they do not have a Dragon Slayer in their ranks. Stating that they do not need one, Ichiya tries to launch a stronger attack, releasing -much to everyone's distraught- a perfume taken directly from his armpits. The Dragon however merely laughs, revealing that he does not have a nose. As the monster moves to attack, Cobra suddenly launches a brutal blow from above, crushing the beast into the ground. As Hibiki and some other members of Blue Pegasus recognize the Poison Dragon Slayer, Lahar and Doranbolt watch from the other side of town, still slightly shocked that they heeded Jellal's words and set the criminal free. When Doranbolt wonders if their jobs will be at risk for such an act, Lahar tells him to forget that and just focus on saving the future so that they even have jobs to worry about.

Meanwhile, at Mercurius, Lucy and her friends are approached by Zirconis, who begins to wonder which one of them he should eat first. As the Dragon ponders, Carla encourages Wendy to listen to Natsu and unleash her true power as a Dragon Slayer and take the Zirconis out. Before she can however, Zirconis decides to take everyone out at once and unleashes a breath attack on the group. As they duck and dive to dodge the blow, they realize that those hit have not been injured, rather their clothes have been completely stripped away. As those now stark naked run in fear and embarrassment, Zirconis comments that he'd much rather be left with the ladies instead, and, seeing Lucy's disgusted reaction, sends his Magic in her direction, removing her clothes too. When he reveals that his Magic is one that strips people of their dignity, Wendy suddenly steps forward, a confident look on her face as she states that the Magic she wields will crush him.

Chapter 79 : Natsu's Strategy

Wendy strengthens her resolve in front of Zirconis as the Jade Dragon bends down and grabs the naked Lucy in his scaled claws, threatening to eat her. Powering up Mirajane with Arms X Vernier, the two proceed to attack Zirconis head on, despite the Dragon believing he can escape them in the air. As they hit him, Zirconis angrily throws Lucy away; Happy quickly flies after her, vowing to save her as the other two continue their fight.

Meanwhile, atop Motherglare, Natsu and the future Rogue continue to exchange blows, with the Fire Dragon Slayer struggling to gain the upper hand. Pushing him back once more, Rogue gleefully points out that there is seven years difference between them, and that he is nowhere near as weak as he was in the Grand Magic Games. Before Natsu can reply, he hears his name being screamed, and turns just in time for Lucy to hit him full on in the face, sending them both falling from the Dragon and greatly stumping the future Rogue, who stares after them in confusion. Landing in a destroyed church bell, Natsu questions why Lucy is naked, and the two struggle to get out, only causing the bell to topple from it's perch on a roof and crash to the ground. As the duo become flustered over Lucy's nakedness and Natsu's lack of respect for averting his eyes, Happy finds the two, joking about their boldness and bringing Lucy her keys. Questioned once more about her situation, Lucy reveals that is was a Dragon who stripped her, and Happy also point out that Natsu was struggling against future Rogue. Deciding not to argue the point, Natsu begrudgingly admits that the Shadow Dragon Slayer is strong, and that the Dragon he rides is annoying too. As Lucy points out that all of the Dragons appear to be strong and complains about almost being eaten, Natsu suddenly grabs her, seemingly ecstatic as he claims to have come up with a plan to beat them.

Across town, Erza falls to a group of Motherglare's minions and realizes she has been separated from the rest of the guild. Seeing that she is surrounded and barely able to stand due to the wounds she received from Minerva, the Requip Mage tries to not allow herself to look weak, though wonders if has has met her end. Before the beasts can attack though, a ring on light sends them all tumbling back, the minions crushed as Jellal appears above Erza and pushes them back. Asking her if she needs a hand, Jellal reaches down and starts to pull Erza to her feet. Before she can stand though, the two suddenly hear a voice, and turn to find Millianna before them. As they look on in shock at her appearance, Millianna suddenly becomes furious.

Emerging from the wrecked bell after having been given new clothes by Virgo, Lucy spots Natsu and Happy already flying off to put Natsu's plan into action, and annoyingly comments on their hastiness. Despite thinking that they are being reckless, she also smiles, commenting on how Natsu always manages to find a silver lining in any situation. Turning, Lucy suddenly spots her journal resting in a nearby crate. Curious as to what it is doing there and picking it up, she realizes that it is actually the journal that belonged to her future self.

Chapter 80 : Fire Bird

Atlas Flame marches towards the Thunder God Tribe, but Freed utilizes his Dark Écriture, attacking the burning beast; Bickslow and Evergreen do the same, utilizing Baryon Formation and Fairy Machine Gun: Leprechaun, respectively. Laxus then attacks the Dragon with his own Lightning Dragon's Roar, but Atlas Flame repels all four spells, claiming that compared to his own hellfire, their Magic is worthless. Laxus then curses his incompatibility with the Dragon, with Evergreen asking if there is, perchance, a Water Dragon Slayer. Bickslow, however, states that even though they don't have a Water Dragon Slayer, the Fire Dragon Slayer is right above them; Happy, flying overhead, drops Natsu directly onto Atlas Flame, shocking Laxus and the Thunder God Tribe.

Natsu lands on the fiery Dragon, stating that he's found him, prompting Atlas Flame to wonder exactly what Natsu is. Natsu states his name, and declares that he's going to eat the Dragon, utterly dumbfounding Laxus and the Thunder God Tribe. While Happy states that only Natsu would think of a strategy such as that, Atlas declares that Natsu mocks him, although, Natsu states that Atlas' flames are quite tasty, prompting the Dragon to smash his body into nearby buildings in an attempt to shake the Fire Dragon Slayer off of him. Natsu, however, adamantly states that he desires to do no such thing. Laxus, meanwhile, is still in disbelief over Natsu's strategy; Natsu tells Laxus that he will take care of Atlas Flame (earning him a sarcastic remark from the Lightning Dragon Slayer), and instead asks him to go to Mercurius to help Wendy fight Zirconis, as she is, despite being a Dragon Slayer, severely inexperienced. Laxus asks Natsu if he is absolutely positive about being able to handle Atlas Flame, to which Natsu replies that he's getting stronger simply from eating the Dragon.

Laxus and the Thunder God Tribe then begin their trek towards Mercurius, bringing Happy along as well. Atlas, on the other hand, is not pleased with Natsu's actions, and insults the Fire Dragon Slayer, vehemently ordering him to dismount before he is further enraged. Atlas then proceeds to smash his body into more buildings; Natsu still manages to stay atop the Dragon. Atlas then begins to express his indignities, but stops, as Natsu's presence reminds him of Igneel: the Fire Dragon King. Atlas then stops his rampage, and, now calm, asks Natsu what his relationship with Igneel is like. Natsu, surprised to hear his foster father's name mentioned, asks Atlas if he knows Igneel; the Dragon states that Igneel is a dear friend of his. Natsu, still eating Atlas' flames, says, with a smile on his face, that Igneel is his dad.

Still riding atop Motherglare, Future Rogue hovers above Crocus, looking at the chaos and carnage ensuing below, stating that the Dragons' destructive, ferocious power is wonderful. The Shadow Dragon Slayer then goes on to state that with the power of the seven Dragons he's amassed, then not only will Acnologia be defeated, but the world will be his. Future Rogue then begins to monologue, stating that the earth will crumble, the skies will burn, and the flames of life shall be extinguished, declaring himself to be the new Dragon King born from the Dragon King Festival. In front of the eclipse, Future Rogue solemnly declares that shadows will become the new light: an ultimate "light" that will illuminate the world. However, behind him, Natsu states that they don't need a light as contaminated as his.

Shocked, Future Rogue turns around to witness Natsu riding atop Atlas Flame, stating the light they need comes from within their hearts, and that it's not something that someone the likes of he can see. Atlas then, at full speed, collides head-first with Motherglare. Unable to comprehend the situation, Future Rogue asks Atlas if he has betrayed him, but Atlas explains that from the very bottom of his heart, he believes that the son of Igneel is his friend. Natsu then states that he's counting on his "uncle", confusing Atlas.

Chapter 81 : Man and Man,Dragon and Dragon,Man and Dragon

With the two Dragons still locking heads, Future Rogue wonders why Atlas Flame was able to overcome his Dragon Manipulation Magic, and questions Natsu as to what he did to Atlas, to which Natsu replies that he did nothing, explaining that the two simply became friends, something which Atlas reaffirms, shocking Future Rogue. Natsu then exclaims for Atlas to begin his attack, which he does, coiling around Motherglare, attempting to bite at it; Motherglare does the same to Atlas. Natsu shouts for Atlas to circle Motherglare, but Future Rogue calmly orders Motherglare to prevent that from occurring; Motherglare opens its mouth and fires its Dragon's Roar, which, although it passes through Atlas Flame, destroys a large section of a nearby mountain range.

Seeing this, Atlas tells Motherglare that its Roar has no effect on his body of flames; Motherglare retorts that the same is true for Atlas' flames in regard to its body of adamantine. Atlas, however, tells Motherglare not to take his hellfires too lightly, as they are the kind that burn stronger than those in hell, and that Natsu, his fellow Fire Dragon, has eaten them, leaving Future Rogue utterly shocked. Almost on cue, Natsu jumps from atop Atlas Flame, his Magic Power completely restored, and attacks Motherglare with an enhanced Fire Dragon's Iron Fist.

Down below, Fiore's king, Toma, is watching the battle between the two Dragons and Dragon Slayers, exclaiming that the once peaceful, blooming capital has become wrought with bloodshed and chaos, claiming the carnage to be a true festival between man and Dragon. Toma then proclaims that with Man fighting against Man, Dragon fighting against Dragon, and Man fighting against Dragon, the scenario that they are witnessing is no different from the original Dragon King Festival. Toma then falls to his knees, much to the shock of his guards, and proclaims that what has happened cannot be stopped, and that nothing will ever be the same again.

Meanwhile, the Present Rogue, short of breath, is told by the Dragon he's facing that he should stop, as his victory is impossible. Rogue then proceeds to ask the aquarian-looking Dragon how he knows his name, to which the Dragon explains that they had orders to spare him, and only him, from the ensuing chaos. With a sinister glare, the Dragon tells Rogue that if he does what they say, then everything will be fine, as he will live through this despair and become the King. Rogue, however, states that he doesn't understand what the the Dragon means, and that he doesn't want to be King, before demanding that the Dragon tell him who gave him these orders; the Dragon explains that Rogue himself did, and that seven years from now, this is all a part of his plan to become the Dragon King and rule the world. Shaking with fear at first, Rogue senses something malicious, but smiles at the Dragon's words, calling them preposterous, however, a mysterious voice claims the Dragon's words to be the truth.

Looking down, Rogue witnesses, once more, his shadow speaking to him, claiming that it represents Rogue's inner darkness, as well as one of his possible future paths. Rogue then proceeds to angrily stomp at his shadow, visibly terrified by the truths wrapping around him. The Dragon then demands for Rogue to admit that his heart is stained with evil, or, rather, it will become stained from this point on. The Dragon asks Rogue to submit to fate, claiming that he will not die here. Unable to comprehend what he is being told, Rogue sinks to his knees, his head in his arms, declaring that everything he's told has been a lie.

Watching from afar, Ultear reminisces about what Natsu said one hour prior when she and Meredy rescued him from death. During this instance, Meredy frets over Natsu's movement, in spite of his injured status, and watches in sadness as Natsu crawls over to, and cries upon, Future Lucy's lifeless body. Confused, Ultear asks who the man that fled was, to which Natsu replies that the man was the Rogue Cheney from seven years into the future. Meredy and Ultear then ask what the man's purpose is, to which Natsu replies that he doesn't know, and if the man is an enemy. Natsu solemnly states that Lucy was his enemy, and he is now his. With Meredy stating that Rogue has become a powerful Mage, Ultear explains that they can extort the weaknesses of the time-space paradox he has brought to the past: if they kill the Present Rogue, then Future Rogue will cease to exist.

Meredy, however, states that Future Rogue's very presence in the past indicates that Rogue cannot be killed, however, Ultear replies that she would be right if time was flowing as it should, declaring that as he has traveled back in time, they have become variable that affect his existence. Natsu, however, declares that they aren't allowed to kill the Present Rogue, and that he is going to defeat the Future Rogue. Ultear then states that Natsu can't let rage consume, but Natsu explains that he isn't talking about rage, stating that although Future Rogue went astray, the Present Rogue hasn't done anything wrong, and that if they kill him, then they'll be the ones who strayed off the righteous path. Ultear then promises that she won't kill the Present Rogue.

Back in the present, Ultear watches Present Rogue's helplessness at hearing these truths, and looks around at the swirling torrent of chaos wracking the once-beautiful city of Crocus, saying that they have no other choice, as Rogue is the sole trigger for the events that are currently taking place, stating that if Future Rogue didn't exist, then the Gates wouldn't have opened, thereby preventing the Dragons from having arrived. With an evil, determined look in her eyes, Ultear states that to return everything to the way it was, killing Rogue is the only way.

Chapter 82 : Sin and Sacrifice

In the middle of a ruined Crocus, Jellal and Erza are approached by Millianna. Before she can move to act, Erza shakily stands, telling Millianna to wait and stating that she has already forgiven Jellal for what he did. Seemingly angered even more, Millianna recounts Jellal's crimes against them and asks if Erza can truly pardon him for them, though Erza states that despite that killing Jellal will get her nothing. As Millianna grows even more heated at that idea, the group is suddenly approached by Ultear, who smiles as she walks towards Millianna and tells her that her hatred is misdirected. Ignoring Jellal's demand that she not continue, Ultear openly admits to her own maliciousness, deciding aloud that is just her personality. Seeing Ultear in such a state, Jellal asks her if something has happened, though Ultear brushes the question off, telling them that they have other places to be. Before they move out, Ultear turns to Millianna and confesses to being responsible for the Tower of Heaven and Simon's death, agreeing to take on whatever hatred the cat-woman has to offer after the war is over. Watching Ultear walk away, Jellal and Millianna ponder what is wrong with the world, though Erza merely states that despite its twisted nature they must continue to persevere. From a ruin just around the corner of the group, a saddened Kagura slips her Archenemy sword away.

Walking the destroyed streets, Ultear remembers her previous wish to kill Rogue in order to save the future. Recalling Natsu's comment detailing the idea that killing the present Rogue makes them just as bad as his future counterpart, Ultear collapses to the ground, realizing her true status as an evil person.

Across town, Rogue struggles to come to terms with what Revire is telling him about his future counterpart. His thoughts are interrupted by Sting though, the man running towards him and screaming that he can't space out. Reaching his partner, Sting says that he'll join Rogue and give him a hand. Startled by his sudden appearance, Rogue asks if Sting has already defeated the Dragon he was fighting before, though Sting soon reveals that he hasn't, rather he's merely been chased by the Dragon through the city, and brought it with him. As Revire and Scissor Runner argue over their situation, Sting convinces Rogue to remember their friendship and join him to take the two Dragons down. Smiling, Rogue agrees, thinking that as long as Sting and his light are with him, he will never fall to darkness.

From her place on the ground, Ultear recalls how she couldn't kill Rogue, though decides that merely the fact that she had contemplated it at all makes her a horrible person. Believing her sins can't be erased easily, Ultear cries and looks towards the sky, wondering if she has changed at all after all of her experiences surrounding sins.

Meanwhile, inside Bar Sun, Meredy stumbles across Juvia, asking if the Water Mage has seen Ultear anywhere. Replying that she has not, Juvia and Meredy are interrupted when Gray rushes them and flings them to the ground, barely saving the duo from one of Motherglare's minions, which had crept up from behind. Soon joined by Lyon, both females are told to focus, whilst Gray approaches Juvia, telling her that he has something important to talk to her about. Immediately assuming he is confessing his love, Juvia becomes flustered, though before Gray can speak he notices another minion firing an attack at Juvia's back. Pushing her out of the way, Gray takes the blow full on, the Magic beam hitting him straight in the heart. As he coughs up blood and begins to fall from the ground, more of the miniature Dragons appear, firing multiple times into his body and tearing it to shreds as Juvia, Lyon and Meredy watch on in horror. As Gray's destroyed body falls to the ground, Juvia screams his name in pure distress, whilst Ultear simultaneously decides that she has no right to live.

Chapter 83 : The Time of Life

The battles against the invading Dragons rage on as Mages are either carried to safety or heavily injured. Bacchus' battle results in him being heavily injured while on Fairy Tail's side, Jet attempts to get attention for a non-breathing Droy while Wakaba is forced to get Romeo out of harms way when Macao is attacked and injured by Motherglare's minions. In Bar Sun, Lyon tries calling for Chelia after the direct headshot Gray took but to no avail as Meredy, Juvia and he can only then stare on sadly.

Elsewhere, Ultear kneels down in the street and thinks about the life she lead to this point, one filled with deception and manipulation. Recalling Gray having given her a chance at life, which she took with Crime Sorcière as a goal to repent for her sins, Ultear begins feeling that she hasn't changed and thus should die. Recalling her time as a teenager with Grimoire Heart, Ultear remembers reading books and being approached by Hades, whom she told about a special spell of Arc of Time which could do what she wanted. However, while she believed it would bring her happiness, Hades warned her against using the Magic, stating that it would bring back time at the cost of her time, or her life in other words.

Back then, Ultear chose not to use the Magic but in the present, elects to do so, willing to sacrifice herself to put the world right and activates Last Ages. Aiming to take the world back to at least before the gates were opened, Ultear uses the spell and readily takes the recoil. At the conclusion, Ultear takes a look at the tower clock but is shocked to find that time has only been turned back by one minute. Wondering if such is truly the worth of her life, Ultear collapses, thinking she wasn't able to save anyone.

At this time, Gray saves Meredy and Juvia from a laser blast by Motherglare's minions. When Lyon warns them about keeping focused in battle, everyone has a vision of their future. Wondering what it was, Meredy notes that a Dragon will appear soon from a certain direction, which it does much to Lyon's shock, who puts up a shield alongside Gray, who wonders whether someone somehow communicated the future to them. Around the city, other Mages are able to use their knowledge of the future to avoid certain incidents and actions which would have otherwise doomed them or their friends. Simultaneously, the Dragon Slayers make their move against the Dragons with this same knowledge given to everyone on the planet.

Chapter 84 : In Order to Live Today to the Fullest

Laxus and Wendy continue to battle against Zirconis; the Sky Dragon Slayer gives the Lightning Dragon Slayer a power boost, however, Zirconis remains unaffected by the assault. As this occurs, Freed declares that they, the Thunder God Tribe, will take care of the Hatchlings; Bickslow states that the Draconian beasts are quite formidable, and Mirajane mentions that she saw a glimpse of the future, something which Evergreen reaffirms. The Exceeds also see the future, with Pantherlily asking Carla if she was the one responsible, something which she denies. Happy states it wasn't him who was responsible either, to which Carla quickly reprimands him, saying that nobody asked him. As these events occur, Arcadios demands that the Princess run and leave things to the Mages present; Yukino backs up his statement by adding that they'll provide cover for her. Hisui, however, in spite of being frightened, opts to stay, declaring that it is her duty as the Princess to oversee the unfolding events.

At that moment, per chance, Lucy arrives with her future counterpart's journal in hand, demanding that Arcadios, Hisui, and Yukino read its contents. Yukino then proceeds to take the book from Lucy, and reads it, revealing to the others that by destroying the Eclipse Gate, then in the future, Rogue has no way of returning to the past, thereby preventing the ongoing calamity from transpiring. Pantherlily chimes in, stating that by doing so, they can rewrite history, in theory that is, however, Hisui remains uncertain about the idea; Happy and Carla express their joy at the thought. Arcadios, on the other hand, states that they lack anything with the capabilities to destroy something of the Eclipse Gate's size. Undeterred, Yukino and Lucy prepare to destroy the Gate.

In spite of their combined efforts, the Gate remains unharmed, which Arcadios explains by stating that the Eclipse Gate is made of Maginium, and incredibly Magic-resistant alloy, making the destruction of the Eclipse Gate easier said than done. Concurrently, Natsu and Atlas Flame continue to battle against Future Rogue and Motherglare, with Atlas, in particular, smashing Motherglare into nearby buildings, something which knocks Natsu and Future Rogue off-balance by extension. As debris flies about, Natsu charges at Future, demanding that the man return to his own time, hitting him away. Future Rogue, wiping his mouth, states his intentions will not change and, in response to Natsu's question, his present self will eventually become him, as all shadows eventually overlap. Future Rogue then proceeds to turn into shadows as Natsu asks him if he plans on stealing his own past's future, countering by saying that as long as Acnologia exists, then no one has a future, and that he has come back in time to create it. Future Rogue successfully hits Natsu, stunning the Fire Dragon Slayer; Motherglare and Atlas grapple, knocking Natsu completely off-balance and sending him tumbling down Motherglare's side.

Barely hanging on, Natsu struggles, but comes to the sudden realization that Frosch died in Rogue's future, questioning the future man about said happening. Although taken aback at first, Future Rogue confirms Natsu's suspicion, prompting Natsu to say that the Exceed is alive in the present and that it's suffering because of him; in an unspecified part of Crocus, Lector protects Frosch. With a grim look on his face, Future Rogue solemnly declares that regardless, in approximately one year, Frosch will die. Natsu, grabbing his wounded side, asks Future Rogue if he was unable to protect him, which he slowly states that he wasn't. Natsu, hearing this, angrily states that Frosch is alive now, although, much to his displeasure, he is met with the response that he isn't the same boy who "plays with cats". With Natsu charging at him once more, Future Rogue asks the Fire Dragon Slayer what he understands, as he is a stranger to despair. Attacking him with a combination of White and Shadow Dragon Slayer Magics, Future Rogue angrily states that Natsu continues to stand in his way, despite having found "hope" for the future. Natsu dodges this assault and asks Future Rogue if his plan for the future is to throw the past into despair.

With the two Dragons staring each other down, Future Rogue declares that equality for all is a mere pipe dream, and that Natsu needs to grow up; Natsu retorts that even if that is true, all people have the right to choose their own future and that they shouldn't be forced to walk down a predestined path. With the light and shadows cutting into him, Atlas calls out to Natsu, propelling the Fire Dragon Slayer towards the Shadow Dragon Slayer with one mighty sweep of his arm. Utilizing the propulsion, Natsu rams into Future Rogue's abdomen, declaring that they don't need to know what tomorrow will bring so that they can live today to the fullest. The two Dragon Slayers then scream at one another, one in rage, the other in agony. Back at the Eclipse Gate, even Taurus is unable to destroy the massive Gate, however, Yukino and Happy notice a large shadow approaching at an accelerated rate, and they are demanded to get away from the Gate. Motherglare, Natsu, and Future Rogue all crash into the Eclipse Gate; Motherglare completely shatters the device with its Adamantine body. Battered, bruised, and bloody, Natsu sits atop the defeated Future Rogue, his body aflame, as Lucy and Happy cheer for his victory.

Chapter 85 : The Golden Plains

With the Eclipse Gate now in tatters, Lucy and Happy continue to rejoice, praising Natsu for his victory over Future Rogue. Natsu, meanwhile, exhausted, removes himself from Future Rogue's person and stares at Future Rogue's smoldering, unconscious body. Arcadios, seeing this, expresses his complete surprise that the Gates were destroyed in spite of their resilient build, prompting Hisui to wonder what is to come. Yukino then chimes in, saying that as the Gates were destroyed, they are no longer useable in the future, which leads to Pantherlily and Carla concluding that with no Rogue to come to the present, then time will rewind; Natsu looks on in shock as Future Rogue's body begins to light up.

Motherglare and Atlas Flame's body also begin to glow and, still hovering in the sky, the burning Dragon remarks that he must now return to his own time; Zirconis concurrently experiences the same issue, causing Wendy and Laxus to marvel at the happening. Angry that he lost to humans, Zirconis makes one final grab at Laxus, crushing the ground mere inches from where he stands. Just then, much to Arcadios' protest, Hisui walks toward Zirconis and apologizes to him, explaining that she was the one responsible for building the Eclipse Gate, and is therefore at fault for making him, someone who is from another time, come into contact with them. Intrigued, Zirconis asks who Hisui is; the Princess tells the Dragon her name, and explains that her name means the exact same thing as the Dragon's own body color: Jade. Smiling at each other, Zirconis, aloud, ponders their exact meaning, to which Hisui reaffirms that they indeed mean the same thing. Zirconis then says "Jade Dragon" to himself, stating that the title has a nice ring to it. However, Zirconis becomes frazzled, as he realizes that by wasting his time with inquiries, he's going to disappear; he soon fades away, sent back to the past at last.

With the other Dragons disappearing, Future Rogue awakes, astonished that his plan has fallen to pieces; Atlas Flame, now almost completely gone, silently states that he will never forget Natsu. Noting his disappearance, Natsu closes his eyes and thanks Atlas for his help. Sighing a breath of relief, Lucy happily notes that all the Dragons are gone.

Throughout Crocus, the Hatchlings disappear, and the Mages rejoice, however, those such as Gajeel and Cobra note that even though the Dragons have disappeared, their "victory" leaves a bitter taste in their mouths; watching the chaos disappear, Mavis sadly states that not a single Dragon Slayer was able to defeat a Dragon. Meanwhile, no sitting down, Sting and Rogue remark that their performance was pathetic and that they have doubts as to whether they should truly call themselves "Dragon Slayers". Sting, however, sadly remarks that they're exceedingly powerful, and that none of them are so much as near Acnologia's level. Rogue, on the other hand, expresses a much more optimistic view on the battle, stating that they shouldn't sulk, as they technically came out victorious and successfully protected their comrades. The Twin Dragon Slayers then smile at each other.

Back at Mercurius, Future Rogue's own body begins to light up, and he stares at his translucent right arm in total disbelief; Natsu states that the present Rogue won't grow up to become like him. Hearing this, Future Rogue curiously mutters the word "shadows", explaining that the shadows are constantly trying to consume him and that they've come for him time and time again. Future Rogue then states that the darkness inside him is permanent, noting that the day that he failed to protect Frosch was the day he fell into depravity and let the shadows consume him. Natsu then states that Frosch won't die, but Future Rogue interrupts him, stating that in one year, Frosch will indeed die, and that he must order his present self to protect Frosch at all costs. With one last angry glare, Future Rogue informs Natsu that unless he does so, then Frosch will be killed regardless, leaving the Fire Dragon Slayer in a state of disrest.

Concurrently, underneath Mercurius, Future Lucy's body is also aglow, however, despite her body returning to her own time, her soul ascends to heaven. When she awakens in the middle of the bright, grassy field, she questions where she is and begins to walk around, confused. However, she is soon stopped when someone calls out her name. Future Lucy then turns around to see the deceased Natsu and Happy of her time greeting her, bringing her to tears. Natsu and Happy then state that everyone's been waiting for her; Natsu grabs Future Lucy's hand and begins to run forward towards the rest of her deceased guildmates, stating that they still need to finish their adventure. Sobbing, Future Lucy agrees.

In the present, Future Lucy's journal disappears from her present self's hand, where she then puts her hand to her face, noticing that she's crying. Looking at Natsu's back, Lucy silently hugs him from behind. Natsu then asks Lucy if something is wrong, to which she denies, instead opting to thank Natsu for everything he's done.

Chapter 86 : The Great Banquet

Several days after the battle of the Fated Day, in a dressing room in the Royal Palace, Yukino, garbed in an illustrious emerald dress, bashfully asks if she truly needs to wear something as gaudy as what she has donned; Lucy and Mirajane state that the dress suits her well, leaving Yukino mildly embarrassed. Meanwhile, Lisanna struggles with her corset and asks Mirajane to help her tie it.

In Crocus, several men talk about the rumor that Dragons were the ones that destroyed the city after they, the civilians evacuated; one man says that the rumor is a lie, whilst the other states that there were witnesses who say that they saw the Dragons. Passing by, a waitress asks if the Mages truly never destroyed the town by themselves. One of the three men, however, immediately changes the topic to the celebration about to take place in the Royal Palace, prompting a nearby drunken man to comment that he is jealous of the Mages. The men then proceed to note that a Mage has never been invited into Mercurius for an event such as this; another man states that they should just let it be and enjoy the festivities.

Inside the castle, Lucy, Mirajane, Lisanna and Yukino arrive and are greeted by Elfman whilst Gray and Gajeel bicker in the background. Erza then proceeds to call them over to her, saying that all the guilds are gathering; all those who partook in the Grand Magic Games interact with one another in their own unique ways: Ichiya gets on a stage and demands the band to play "that song", much to their confusion, Bacchus and Cana begin another drinking contest and are met by the cheers of the rest of Team Quatro Puppy, Kagura arrives in an elegant dress much to her embarrassment, saying that it doesn't suit her; her teammates inform her otherwise. Concurrently, Makarov and the remainder of his old team drink together in happiness, with all four of them expressing joy over the fact of having lived long enough to be invited into the Royal Palace.

While this occurs, Hisui runs towards Lucy, finally recognizing her as Jude Heartfilia's daughter, stating that she was friends with Jude. Hisui then proceeds to apologize for the way she treated Lucy despite how indebted to Jude she was; Lucy states that she's a Mage, so trouble follows her regardless, prompting Hisui to smile. Looking around, Hisui asks where Natsu is, to which Lucy answers that she has no idea.

In their own section of the dining hall, Juvia confronts Gray, explaining that she's become "Juvia version 2.0" (puzzling Gray) and that she's entered a new age. Stating that she loves him, Juvia leaps at Gray, but Gray turns around walks away, crushing Juvia. He then turns around and states that he's entered a new age as well, and that in this new one, he's going to tell people who and what he doesn't like. Juvia then gets up, unfazed by Gray's comment, and tells him that she loves it when he toys with her affection; Gray exclaims that the "new" Juvia is much crazier than the "past" Juvias. Lyon, however, walks by and berates Gray for saying such a thing. With a hollow smile, Lyon states that he finally realized that Juvia's heart doesn't have room in it for him, much to Toby and Yuka's bizarre amazement. Shrugging off the encounter, Gray wonders aloud where Natsu is while Juvia remarks that for him to be away from where the action is is highly uncharacteristic of him.

Elsewhere, Chelia and Wendy stare a piece of jello and remark at its pristine appearance, wondering what it tastes it like; the two quickly devour the treat, exclaiming that it was delicious. Mavis then appears behind Wendy and states, drooling, that it does indeed look delicious, surprising the Sky Dragon Slayer. Wendy then proceeds to dismiss Chelia's worries at her sudden exclamation, as Mavis cannot be seen by non-Fairy Tail members. Still mesmerized by the food, Mavis states that she wishes to try some, but Wendy asks her to show restraint, as she is a ghost, much to Chelia's confusion. Wendy then asks Mavis if she has seen Natsu, to which she replies that she hasn't. Also stating that Natsu's absence is uncharacteristic of him, Chelia feels Mavis' presence behind her, and asks Wendy to help her.

While Laxus is smothered by several adoring fans, much to Freed's chagrin, Bickslow and Evergreen also notice his absence; Levy also dejectedly states that Lucy hasn't seen him, though Jet and Warren comfort her by saying he probably fell asleep somewhere and is fine.

During the banquet, Erza approaches Kagura and asks her how her wounds are, to which she replies that she could ask the same question. Erza then asks Kagura if they can become friends despite all that has happened; Kagura refuses and asks Erza if she would rather become more of an elder sister to her. Surprised, Erza pulls Kagura in for a hug, commenting that she's adorable, despite her blushingly saying that what she said was a joke, all as her teammates remark on her surprising cuteness. Noticing that Millianna is glum, Erza asks her how long she plans on continuing to sport such a sour expression. When she gets no reply, Erza states that she now has no choice and removes Happy from her cleavage; the Exceed spits out Millianna's own catchphrase in an effort to cheer her up. This, however, only works for a moment, prompting Erza to reveal both Carla and Pantherlily as well, completely destroying Millianna's bad mood, much to Carla and Pantherlily's annoyance at being treated as stuffed animals. As Millianna plays with his face, Happy meets Erza's question as to where Natsu is with no answer, causing her, as well, to wonder where the Fire Dragon Slayer could have gone.

Sting and Lector appear in front of Gajeel bearing wine and glasses, asking for Natsu; Gajeel replies that Natsu isn't with him. Dejected, Sting replies that he was finally planning on ending the bad blood between themselves. Completely ignoring Sting, Gajeel talks to Rogue, calling him "Ryos", much to his displeasure. The Iron Dragon Slayer then asks his former friend about his future counterpart, to which Rogue replies that he doesn't understand the situation either, but that he won't grow up to become him; Frosch agrees with Rogue, causing Gajeel to smirk with satisfaction. Sting then puts his hand on Gajeel's shoulder and asks him for a drink, stating that he'll gladly settle for him instead, prompting Gajeel to point out his sudden urge to hurt Sting. Worried, Lector asks Gajeel to be friends with Sting despite his unruly attitude; watching from afar, Orga and Rufus note that Sting seems to have lightened up considerably, with Rufus in particular stating that the Sting he's observing is absent from his memory.

Clinking their glasses together, toasting to Sabertooth and Fairy Tail's friendship, the three Dragon Slayers then notice that Yukino has found her way towards them, much to Frosch's delight. Apologizing for her "intrusion", Yukino attempts to walk away, but Sting stops her and apologizes for not realizing that she was at the event as the well, informing her that both Jiemma and Minerva have disappeared and that he plans on rebuilding Sabertooth from the ground up. Admitting that Sabertooth hasn't been kind to Yukino, Sting declares that they're going to become a guild that treasures their comrades and asks Yukino to rejoin Sabertooth. At that moment, however, an extremely drunk Kagura walks in on their conversation and declares that as Yukino's life belongs to her, she will be joining Mermaid Heel, greatly shocking Team Sabertooth, as well as Yukino. As she and Sting fight over Yukino, Fairy Tail joins the argument as well, declaring that is Yukino is to truly "go with the flow", then she must join them; Blue Pegasus also expresses their desire to have the Celestial Spirit Mage join their ranks. Taking the bait, Lyon states that Lamia Scale will enter the contest for Yukino as well; Toby shouts for Yukino to join them despite Yuka's protests, prompting Jura to remark that this fiasco isn't going to end well. Even Quatro Cerberus expresses their desire to have Yukino join them, with Bacchus in particular stating that Yukino can be the lone flower in their guild of men. Despite Yukino's protests, even the Guild Masters express their want of the young woman; Chelia describes the situation as one of "love". The guilds then begin to brawl, with the fate of the young Mage's career seemingly in their hands.

As this goes on, Yukino, on the ground, begins to cry. Mirajane tries to console her, telling her not to cry, but Yukino smiles regardless, stating that even if what they're saying turns out to be a lie, she's still the happiest she's ever been. Happy for Yukino, Mirajane states that she now has many places for herself to call home, however, Aracios demands that the Mages cease their fight at once, as the King is coming to greet them all as thanks for their help in averting the great disaster that the Rogue Cheney of the future was about to beset upon the country.

In lieu of this, everyone silences themselves, however, Natsu himself arrives on the balcony, having stolen the King's crown, and raucously declares that he is the new king, much to everyone's utter befuddlement. Livid, Arcadios asks the Garou Knights to deal with Natsu's stupidity, but they immediately decline, declaring that Arcadios is asking the impossible. With Makarov utterly mortified at Natsu's lack of respect, Natsu continues to bring embarrassment to his Guild Master by shouting that as Fairy Tail has won the tournament, he's the king and everyone is his subordinate, all while ignoring the King's demand to give him his crown back. Smiling, the rest of Natsu's team breathes heavily as Lucy remarks that Natsu has always had a penchant for crossing the line.

Chapter 87 : The Starfrost Essence

Walking the streets of the ruined Crocus, Jellal and Meredy quietly search for Ultear, whom they still have yet to find despite the fact that the war against the Dragons has ended. With Meredy hoping she isn't hurt, Jellal ponders the idea that despite the Dragons and future visitors returning to their own time, Crocus remained destroyed and their memories intact. Hearing him, Meredy suggests that their timeline was just so tangled with all of the others that the damage was irreversible, though Jellal seems more concerned with the memories that remain, as the royal families use of Dark Magic has already been reported to the Council. Commenting that such information could cause a scandal, the two suddenly come across Doranbolt.

Meanwhile, at the Magic Council, Org runs into Lahar, and compliments him on his wonderful surveillance of the Grand Magic Games. After Lahar replies he actually had more fun than he probably should have, Org asks about the apparent Dragon illusion show the King organized on the last night, though Lahar states that he sadly wasn't around to witness it. When Org comments that the older members of the Council should have seen it, Lahar merely replies that they seem to be opposing such Magic tournaments more and more with every passing day, causing the two to laugh.

Having led Jellal and Meredy away from Crocus to a hidden cave off the main road, Doranbolt reveals -much to Jellal's surprise- that he used his Memory Control Magic to completely wipe the memories of the Council members and replace them with fake ones about what happened on the night of the seventh of July. When Jellal asks why he would go to so much trouble, Doranbolt states that if the information that the royal family was using Magic from the book of Zeref were to get out, the citizens would lose trust and the Magic Council would be forced to act. Continuing that sometimes the best strategy is to turn a blind eye, Doranbolt reveals that he also wiped Lahar's memories as well, despite Jellal's thoughts that he would do otherwise. Looking out past Jellal, Doranbolt spots Meredy curled up at the entrance of the cave, and asks if the group still have yet to locate Ultear. Jellal merely replies that she is not the sort to up and disappear without a word, and hearing this Doranbolt decides to leave, partially shocked that he even cared about the Crime Sorcière members safety in the first place. Demanding that both Meredy and Jellal keep quiet and not tell anyone of their meeting, Doranbolt exits the cave, though just before he can move out of sight, Jellal asks what became of Cobra. Recalling the night of July 7th, Doranbolt explains that the Poison Dragon Slayer surprisingly came back straight after the battle ended. As they secured his hands and began to lead him away, Doranbolt heard the man talking about hearing voices, and asked what he had come across. To his surprise, Cobra turned and stated that the gates of the netherworld are about to be opened, continuing to ask Doranbolt not to mess around with his memories until such a time.

As Jellal and Meredy continue on their way, Jellal thinks over Cobra's comments, and comes to the conclusion that Cobra was speaking of the third corner of the Balam Alliance, Tartaros. As he contemplates whether the Dark Guild is finally making its move, the two are approached by an old woman, who surprisingly knows them by name. Continuing, the woman states that she was asked to give the duo a letter from a certain lady, and, opening it, the two realize it is from Ultear. Reading, the two discover that Ultear failed to properly use a spell during the fight to protect Crocus, and as a result barely has any time left in her life. Wishing to bid them one last farewell, Ultear reminds them of Crime Sorcière's resolve, and wishes for them to continue on strongly into the future, find Zeref, and continue their fight with her spirit at their side. Soon realising that they are not going to find their comrade, Meredy begins to cry, whilst Jellal turns to question the old lady, only to see that she has disappeared.

Nearby, Team Natsu, Wendy and Carla all travel in a carriage back to Magnolia, reminiscing their time in Crocus. As they chat, their carriage passes by the old lady, who is walking down the road. Seeing them pass by, the old woman looks to the sky and thinks about her own insignificance in a world so large, more so just how many possibilities the world holds. From his place at the back of the carriage, Gray looks out and spots the old woman, seemingly feeling a sense of recognition. As the old woman basks in the sun and comments that she can almost feel her sins being washed away, Gray orders the driver to stop and leaps from the vehicle. Whilst the woman comments that she was finally able to forgive herself for her sins, Gray runs towards her crying, realizing that the old woman is none other than Ultear, the person who sacrificed her own existence to save his. As both he, Meredy and Jellal cry over the loss of their friend, Ultear bids them all a final farewell.

Chapter 88 : Gift

In the town of Magnolia, the citizens gather in the streets for the return of the Fairy Tail Guild Mages from their victory in the Grand Magic Games. Seeing the festivities being put on for them, done by the citizens of Magnolia and even those from outside the town, the Mages are astounded and engage happily, greeting everyone and thanking them for their encouragement, some of them even celebrating alongside them in happiness.

Walking through the crowd, Juvia notices Gray sad face and asks what is wrong with him, though he brushes off the issue. As they shout out to her, Lucy notices her landlady and the boat driver cheering for her and waves back to them while greeting them, to which the landlady tells her she still needs to pay rent. Erza is fawned over by many admirers of her feats, who argue over whether her best performance was in Pandemonium, her fight against Kagura or against Minerva.

Meanwhile, Natsu opens his travel sack to show everyone something, revealing that he took the king's crown and kept it. However, he reveals that what he actually wanted to show off was the victory trophy Fairy Tail won. As their members shed tears of happiness, Natsu is hoisted into the airs as everyone cheers. However, Juvia notices that Gray still appears sad and tells him to change his expression. Gray complies, realizing he needs to smile, much to Juvia's happiness. Suddenly, the mayor of Magnolia Town arrives to award them with a commemorative item. Calling them over to his location, the Mages are shocked as they are presented with their guild building completely restored. As the guild is happy to see their building, Makarov thanks the mayor but is told that the entire town pitched in to help, to which he professes his love for the town.

From atop the nearby buildings, the small black creature who traveled with Raven Tail Mage Obra watches the goings-on before jumping down and scampering away into the forest, where he jumps upon the shoulder of the Dark Mage Zeref. Mavis arrives shortly after and greets Zeref, stating that she knew he was watching the games. Zeref tells Mavis that though he cannot see or hear her, he knows she is there. Acknowledging that they were both close to one another seven years ago, Mavis asks if Zeref is still looking for a place to die, to which he states that it has been decided. Zeref tells her he as seen many atrocities in his life but always hoped a new era would eliminate them, wondering how many times people continue making mistakes.

Mavis states that they are just living but Zeref disagrees, stating that what they are doing is not truly living and that "humans" are already dead. Mavis asks if he has stopped waiting, to which Zeref states he has and if they world rejects him, he will deny it. Mavis states that Fairy Tail accepts the world but Zeref states that what he is doing will be the gift of harmony and regeneration. Mavis asks if there will be fighting, but Zeref, with his eyes flaring states there will not, there will instead be annihilation as everyone will die. Mavis puts on a similar expression and tells Zeref that Fairy Tail will stop him and annihilate him in turn as the two Mages stare at one another.

Chapter 89 : The morning of a new adventure

In the Fairy Tail Guild's new bathhouse, Lisanna comments on how large it is, with Lucy adding that it feels good. Cana notes that the relaxing atmosphere makes her feel unwilling to work, to which Lisanna points out that since the end of the Grand Magic Games, they've been getting many requests. Levy states that when working they need to rest too, at which point Lucy asks whether or not she had a job. Levy states she did but that Jet and Droy wanted to do it themselves. On their job, the two are revealed to have been captured by a tribe of masked warriors and ask Gajeel to save them. Pantherlily asks why he brought them alone, to which Gajeel replies that they just followed him. In the bath house, Lucy notes that Natsu and Gray went to work together as well. Everyone is surprised that the two have been getting along as of late but Cana asks about in which Natsu groped Lucy's breasts, having been told the story by Happy. Lucy attempts to explain what happened but Cana is unwilling to listen and instead tries to grope Lucy's breasts herself.

Levy wonders where Wendy went, to which Juvia explains that she went with Erza on a job, for which the reward was rare sweets. In Rabian's theater, the two work together as actors in a play, with Erza taking the role of Elie and Wendy in the role of Haru. The two are jeered for their performances (while Rabian thanks them) but Carla, in the role of a dog, tells Wendy to hang in there for the sweets. Hearing this, Lisanna finds it strange as she believed Erza to be there in the bathhouse with them. Everyone looks to a redheaded figure, which stands up and reveals itself to be Flare Corona of Raven Tail. Seeing her, Cana immediately makes a dash for her but is tackled down by Lucy. Cana asks why she would defend her, but Lucy claims Flare is not such a bad person. After using her Hair Magic to help Cana wash, Flare reveals that Raven Tail was disbanded and therefore she has no place to go. Hearing this, Lucy asks if they should talk to their master about potentially allowing her into Fairy Tail. Levy and Lisanna are shocked at this suggestion while Juvia notes that Flare's eyes are similar to hers. However, Flare laughs and tells them she has no interest in joining Fairy Tail, prompting the girls to ask why she is there.

Soon after, Lucy walks to her apartment, thinking about how large the bathhouse is while her own bath is very small. Entering her apartment, Lucy is greeted by Wendy, Carla and Erza, much to her shock as she recalls this happening before. Wendy apologizes for them having entered without permission, while Erza offers Lucy some sweets as there were too many for them alone. Lucy inquires about their job but gets mixed responses from Erza and Wendy. Carla asks about Natsu and Gray but is told they haven't returned despite having an easy job. Wendy suggests going to look for them and the three soon head out.

On their search, the girls find a massive beast knocked out by Gray and Natsu, the same monster from their request. As Carla inspects it, Happy weakly walks over and asks for help. Erza asks what happened to him, resulting in Happy taking them to where Natsu and Gray have been fighting and insulting one another. Seeing this, the girls are disappointed, with Happy noting that the two still take the time to sleep and eat. Erza tells the two of them to stop their fighting, which causes both of them to simultaneously punch her in the face. The others are shocked by this and Erza quickly regains composure, putting on an angry stare as Gray and Natsu realize that it was Erza they hit and ask hey what she was doing there as she delivers punishment.

Back at the guild, Natsu claims he will never work with Gray again, a statement which Gray echoes. Their other guildmates laugh at their behavior, with even Romeo Conbolt telling them to stop being so childish. Meanwhile, Mirajane approaches Makarov with a poster, telling them they have an emergency request. Makarov notes the increase in jobs since the end of the Grand Magic Games and reads over the request. Noting that it is for both Gray and Natsu, Makarov calls out to them, making Lucy realize why they were on a job together in the first place. The two of them state that they aren't interested in going on a job with the other but Makarov states that they must and that they cannot fail as their client is Walrot Seeken, one of the Four Gods of Ishval, surprising everyone as they wonder why he sent them a request.

Chapter 90 : Walrod Cken

Responding to Walrod Cken's job request, Erza, Lucy, Wendy and Carla accompany Happy, Natsu and Gray to the Ten Wizard Saint's house to be briefed on what they must do. As they walk, the group marvel at the tranquil place Warlot lives, though are soon interrupted in their relaxation by Natsu and Gray, who have been arguing with each other since they set out. Scolding them, Erza tells the two that they will have to be on their best behaviour in the presence of the Saint, whilst Lucy comments that it was a good thing they decided to tag along to watch over the duo. Continuing, the group discuss the Four Gods of Ishgar and their prominence in the Magic world, and, when Wendy inquires about their name, it is explained by Erza that Fiore once went by the name of Ishgar many years ago. Just as Lucy begins to wonder why such a powerful person would request Natsu and Gray of all people, Wendy spots the Saint's house upon a nearby hill.

Introducing themselves and entering, the group is halted by a tall man in the middle of the house, who tells them to shut their mouths and not disrupt his plants, which stand growing all around the room. As the Mages all hastily move to shut up, the Saint turns, laughing as he tells them he was merely joking. Due to the Walrod's appearance as a tree, the group stand slightly confused as he inquires as to whom Natsu and Gray are, and hastily makes a grab for Happy and Carla, shocked that the Mages he requested are more "cat-like" than he thought. As he then bursts into another round of laughter at his new joke, Erza interrupts to ask if he truly is Walrod Cken of the Wizard Saints. Responding with yet another attempt at satire, Walrod confirms that he is, deflating the group with his unpredictable humor.

Moving to an outside table, the group sit and listen as Walrod describes his work with Magic in the desert. Explaining that he uses his Green Magic to help plants grow and thereby stop the spread of the desert, Warlod continues to say that some time ago he happened upon a rather strange village that worshiped an everlasting flame as a guardian deity. However, the last time he chose to visit, he found the town and all of its citizens had been completely frozen solid. Pondering how such a thing could have happened, Walrod states that the reason he is so uncomfortable with the situation is that all those frozen are actually still alive in their icy shells, and requests that the group head out to the town and find a way to revert what has happened. Fired up and stating that he'll simply melt the flames with his ice, Natsu is interrupted by Gray, who concludes that if the task were that simple they wouldn't be needed at all. Confirming his suspicions, Walrod states that the ice is unlike any he has seen before, not being ordinary in the slightest. Erza however points out that despite the seeming difficult nature of the job, Walrod, being a Ten Wizard Saint, should be able to complete the task himself. Walrod however replies that the Ten Wizard Saints are not chosen for offensive capabilities only, rather, they are merely masters in their own specific area. Continuing, Walrod reveals that he has very little aggressive powers, but states that that is the reason why guilds are so important, as they bring together those who could otherwise not stand alone. Smiling at his words, the groups spirit is raised and they all happily accept the man's request.

Thanking them and standing, Walrod states that, if anything, he can at least help the group get to the town in no time at all. Getting them to stand together, Walrod raises his staff and speaks an incantation, only for a humongous tree to spring from the ground and begin to carry the group up and over the desert to their location. As he watches them go, Walrod praises the group's youth and spirit, and remembers back to a day when he too was younger. Standing outside in a breeze, Walrod was called to by two men, who asked him to stop spacing out and help them admire the new guild building they had finally finished constructing. Turning and all looking up at the building, the trio were joined by Mavis, who asked for a souvenir photo to mark the day the Fairy Tail guild was founded.

Smiling at that memory from over 105 years ago, Walrod thinks about the large amount of time that has passed, and quietly smiles as he states that Mavis' feelings are still being inherited by every Fairy Tail member even now.

Chapter 91 : Treasure Hunters

Arriving shortly at the town Walrod Cken spoke of via the Ten Wizard Saints' Magic tree, the group look around to find the apparent "frozen town" the man spoke of. Finding the town soon after, the group discover that it is in fact frozen solid, but wonder where the people are, as they can't see any present. Glancing up, Natsu suddenly realizes that they are all standing under the body of a gigantic frozen man, and the group spend some time panicking as it suddenly dawns on them that the town is one occupied by giants. Looking up at a particular giant, Gray suddenly recalls the frozen Deliora on Galuna Island, and becomes uncomfortable after that memory itself pulls forward others about Ur and Ultear. As Lucy comforts him slightly, the others express their surprise that they have to save giants, though Natsu soon overcomes this and moves to try and melt the ice encasing the townsfolk. His attempts however appear futile, as the ice refuses to melt. Stepping forward and placing a hand over it, Gray remarks that he has not come across such Magic before, and when Erza asks if he can potentially remove it himself, is interrupted by Lucy before he can reply, the Celestial Spirit Mage stating that she doesn't think it would be that easy.

As the group ponder the situation, they are called out to by three men standing on a hill behind them. When asked, the trio reveal that they are a guild of treasure hunters, who specifically came to the town to rob it of its eternal flame: the group demands that Fairy Tail not get in their way, only to be surprised when they find out that Natsu and his comrades are not after the flame at all. However, they still so not want the group to melt the town, detailing that they have never been able to get close to the flame and wish to use this opportunity to take the flame without having to face the giants guarding it. When Lucy and Wendy state that taking the flame is like stealing rather than finding treasure the group reply that they are merely doing their job, and wish to take the flame before another group does. Trying to discourage them, Gray points out that the flame is frozen and therefore trapped too, though in response one of the men pulls a small bottle from his person, revealing that it contains a liquid form of Moon Drip that they will use to obtain the flame. Shocked by this revelation, the Fairy Tail members soon realize that they can steal the liquid and use it to restore the town, and hastily run after the three treasure hunters, who scorn them for their blatant hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, in a cave nearby, a man with a dark guild insignia watches the two groups, slightly annoyed that his party now has another two to deal with. From behind him, a woman remarks that the petty treasure hunters are no problem, but that the Fairy Tail Mages should not be underestimated. Begrudgingly agreeing, the man asks his partner if she knows of the guild, only to be berated when she replies that he must be pretty ignorant to not have heard of it. Remarking that he pays no attention to such trivial surface matters, the man listens as his guild mate expresses her happiness that she can obtain revenge so soon, but tells her to disregard that and focus on the job at hand. Hearing him call her newbie, the woman turns around, revealing herself to be Minerva and demanding that he call her "my lady" instead.

Chapter 92 : Wizards vs. Hunters

Continuing their pursuit of the treasure hunters, Team Natsu, Wendy and Carla demand that the trio hand over their liquid Moon Drip, though the men heatedly refuse, stating that they went to too much effort to obtain it in the first place. As she runs, Lucy notices that Erza is no longer with them, with Wendy revealing that the Requip Mage stayed behind in the village to look for more clues surrounding the Magic used to freeze the giants. Hoping she will be okay by herself, the Mages are soon occupied themselves when the treasure hunters suddenly decide to stop running, choosing instead to turn and fight.

Getting fired up, Natsu moves to try and quickly take out Lala, the man with the giant hand-shaped hammer, only for the treasure hunter to surprise him when he manages to both block and then counterattack without much difficulty, sending the Fire Dragon Slayer flying. As Nastu struggles, Gray casts Ice-Make: Lance at Hiroshi, becoming similarly flustered when Hiroshi evades every attack. As he watches, Hiroshi manipulates the lever present on his sword, causing the blade to extend and almost land a direct hit on Gray's head. As Lucy worries over the two, she is quickly pushed to the ground by Wendy, the Sky Dragon Slayer having just moved them both quickly enough to avoid a shot from above from the 3rd and final member of Sylph Labyrinth, Drake, revealing that he is a professional sniper. To counter his long-ranged attacks, Lucy summons Sagittarius, but no matter how hard he tries the Spirit cannot seem to land an arrow on Drake, who merely shoots the projectiles to bits before they can hit him. The Fairy Tail members are seemingly outmatched, and even Natsu openly admits that the trio is far more skilled than they had originally thought.

Concurrently, back in the frozen village, Erza studies the giants and notices something that has been bothering her: all of the giants are facing the same direction and all of them are armed for battle. Thinking this through, Erza ponders what the townsfolk were doing at the time they were put under the spell, and concludes that they were likely defending the Eternal Flame from some sort of enemy. Deciding to go look for it, Erza runs in the opposite direction through the town, and eventually comes to a mountain on the other side. Convinced the frozen flame will be at the peak, Erza climbs right to the top, falling exhausted and despaired to the ground when she realizes that there is nothing there at all. Mentally scolding herself for believing the giants would leave something so precious out in the open, Erza stands and continues to move about. As she passes a wall of ice, her reflection catches her eye and she stares on in utter disbelief as she discovers that her body has been turned into that of a child's.
