Wrote this a few minutes ago. Though it's not Kingdom Hearts related, it was slightly inspired by the games. :]
She was inspiring. She was beautiful. She was all he could ever ask for. Everything about her screamed, “Love me!” So he did. He threw himself to her and loved her more than she could ever want to be loved. He was devoted, truly devoted, to her. Until it all was swept away.
One instant, one single fleeting moment, and it was all swept away, as if the ocean had swallowed up his world. Dark, it was all dark to him. Nothing lit his world. She was gone, and so was his heart.
His heart ached with hurt at the loss of the woman he loved. If he could, he would go to the second before he lost her, and save her. He would be her hero. But he could not. That’s not how life worked. It never had, and never will. It was childish to think that it was at all possible.
But he still sought a way. He still sought out something that would bring her back. He sat, pouring over books, hoping that, one day, he could save her. That day never came, though. It never came close. He lived for a few more years, and then lost his life to heart break. He fell into death, welcoming it, holding it close to him.
He heard her voice. “Daniel,” she called out. “Wake up, my love, wake up. I’m here,” and when he did, she was there, standing over him, holding her hand out to him. “Come with me, there’s someone I want you to meet.”
He thought he was dreaming a sweet dream, a dream in which he had saved his beautiful Claire. But after a moment, he knew, without a doubt, he was not dreaming. It was all too surreal, all too beautiful.
“This is him,” she said, after a walk that seemed to take only seconds. “This is—”
“Jesus.” Daniel fell to his knees and wept. His heart burst open in his chest, regaining its life. His heart was once again whole. He was home.
