1. Space Marines

These genetically engineered super soldiers are the best in the entire Imperium has to offer. Cloned from the Primarchs, the sons of the God Emperor, these soldiers have an undying loyalty to mankind. Designed to do battle against overwhelming odds they will fight, and if necessary, die for the Emperor.

2. The Imperial Guard

Where as the Space Marines are super soldiers, members of the Imperial Guard are ordinary men and women who were either drafted or signed up to defend mankind against it's enemies. These brave soldiers number in the millions of billions, for each one that dies, a thousand more take his place. Life is the Emperor's currency, spend it well.

3. Sisters of Battle

The Adepta Sororitas, better known as "The Sisters of Battle" serve under the command of the Ecclesiarchy which is essentially the church of the Imperium. The law dictates that the Ecclesiarchy cannot command "men under arms". Spotting the loophole, the Ecclesiarchy brought forth the Sisters of Battle, young women dedicated to removing heresy and serving the God- Emperor.

Also when it comes to female armor, sometimes more is actually better!

Enemies of Man

1. Orks

Almost too idiotic to be considered an actual threat, the Orks reproduce quicker than any other creature in the galaxy, and may rival mankind in population. The orks are a violent and simple minded species. Their entire civilization (if you could call it that) is based entirely around finding people to fight, and the fighting them. Orks will often engage in civil war among each other. Were it not for their inability to unite, mankind could be seriously threatened.

The Eldar were once the most technologically and culturally sophisticated species in the galaxy. However, several major mistakes have lead to the near complete collapse of their civilization. The Eldar are not large enough to pose a serious threat to the Imperium, however they are capable fighters and can pose a threat to the planets they invade.

3. Chaos

The four "Gods" of Chaos exist within the warp. Since the first warp storms they have been attempting to seduce men and women away from their proper duties. However, through proper willpower and discipline mankind will endure these horrible forces. Yet do not underestimate them. They have turned the Emperor's most loved son and his Space Marine chapters against mankind in what was known as the "Horus Heresy". The sheer power of the Emperor was enough to temporarily put them down but they are still a very serious threat.

4. The Tau

The Tau are a young race, estimated to be 6000 years old. However in the time they have become extremely advance and threaten to exceed even the Eldar in technological progress. Tau society is comprised of five caste, the Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ethereal cast. All work together toward a goal described only as "The Greater Good". The Tau have managed to convince some of your fellow man to join them, these people are to be considered heretics of the highest degree.

5. The Necrons

The Necrons are a race of extremely advanced machines. Not much is known about them other than they have been slumbering underneath the surface of many planets for thousands, possibly even millions of years. Why they have decided to awaken is largerly unknown What is known is that they will be hunted and destroyed by the Imperium.

6. The Dark Eldar

Derived from Eldar "Pleasure cults" the Dark Eldar are ruthless fiends that take great enjoyment in torturing others. They are considered to be even more sadistic than Chaos. Despite their name, they are not allied with the Eldar, rather the exact opposite. They have fallen completely out of Eldar culture and are the worst the galaxy has to offer.

7. The Tyranids

The Tyranids are a gruesome species of Xenos. Each individual is controlled my a massive hive mind. They're only purpose is to reproduce and evolve as rapidly as possible. This is done by invading worlds and completely consuming every piece of living matter to extract the genes and place all desirable traits into their own genome. They are a fast moving and very deadly threat, often destroying entire biospheres before Imperial reinforcements can even arrive.

Space Marines, both on the table top and in the games are generally considered to be the most balanced faction as well as the most new player friendly. These two reasons alone have made the Space Marines the faction of choice.

Personally, I prefer the Tau in Dawn of War and the Imperial Guard on the Tabletop. Sometimes I play as the Sisters of Battle just because I feel they are the most fun to play.

Why does the series that has been inspiring 70% of all science fiction for the past 20 years not have more post on its fan page?
