In the land of Hoenn, there is a civil war taking place. There are four parties involved in the fighting, each taking a name from the Japanese Guardians:

 

The Milites Empire consists of the Elite Four of the region, and they seek to conquer the entire region for the advancement of their own power. They use powerful, fully evolved brute force and machinery to fight. Wallace stands as their supreme leader, and his charisma makes troops obey his every command.

 

The Kingdom of Concordia are the lovers of nature who hold a special power over Pokemon. They can communicate with Pokemon and raise them without the use of Pokeballs. They consist of few Rangers and tribes of Pokemon.

 

The Lorrican Alliance is the league of gym leaders from the region. They are a small and elite number that try to fight for their own power and authority, because they used to be the diplomatic leaders of the region. Once the Milites Empire struck, they lost authority. They will slowly disband and divide into other parties...

 

And finally-

 

The Suzaku Fiefdom of Hoenn (or just Suzaku) is the region of the Pokemon Professors. Here Professor Birch has trained a small army of students in the ways of Pokemon battling. They are the "heroes" of this story. They fight for an end to all the conflict. They stress peace and knowledge as the way of the future. As fighters, they do not rely on brute force, but on strategy and skill. Birch's lead commanders are Brendan and May, who oversee all of the classes and support the strongest members on missions. Many students attend the school, but only one class will receive the spotlight here...

Prologue: The Fires of Suzaku

 

 

“AAAARGH! WE’RE UNDER ATTACK!”

A fireball slammed into a home, engulfing it in flames. Milites soldiers stood laughing at their work, their flamethrowers in their hands. Suddenly something flew through the air. One soldier groaned. His friends looked at him. A flagpole had stabbed right through him and planted itself into the ground. The other solders looked upwards. From the roof jumped seventeen hooded figures.

“ Go!” their leader cried.

Quickly, the team dispatched the Milites soldiers. They cleared the bodies away from the flag. It’s golden phoenix shone brightly on the red background. The team stood under the flag.

“ Let’s go! Mission Apostle begins now!” they cried, thrusting their weapons into the air.

Littleroot Town was burning. Smoke filled the air. The Miltes Empire was trying to seize Suzaku’s stronghold.

Drex tossed off his hood and turned to face his team.

“Come on guys, the whole town is under attack. We’ve got to clear the area of soldiers. Split up and help as many civilians as you can,” he said. “We’re looking for their source of power. We kill it, we kill their weaponry. Divide and conquer.”

Drex spun his swords in his hands. His Quilava stood next to him. A soldier appeared from around the corner. He shot bullets towards Drex, but Quilava melted them with Flamethower. Drex cast a fire spell that knocked the soldier off guard. Drex ran up to him and stabbed downwards.

He pulled the blade out of the corpse. The hunt was on.

Walrus smiled.

"Do you even know what you're up against?" he said.

Suddenly, the sun went out. The characters looked up. A Wailord was blocking the sky.

"Brine!" commanded Wallace.

A waterfall of water splashed down upon everyone, making it so hard to see.

That's when Hope had an idea.

"Somebody!" she shouted. "Drive something into the crystal! We can use a small crack to shatter it!"

Alister smiled as his visor blocked the water and gave him the data as he then ran straight at the crystal which was about 200 yards away. Crobat came out of its pokeball and flew beside him. Toxicroak came out and ran by his side. then Arbok came out to slither swiftly by its masters side. he unsheeted his sword as he held it back handed it glowed purple. toxicroak prepared its poison jab, arboks fangs glowed, and crobats wings glowed. Alister and his pokemon were engulfed in a purple light as they headed for the crystal. "Its my turn!"

Kira looked around, trying to find something to shatter the crystal. Nothing. Them she looked in the direction of Kugo.

"got it!!" Kugo yelled, staring in the direction of the crystal. "Galceon, I know you're tired, but IceBeam on that crystal!!" he yelled, Gaceon running closer to the crystal, and freezing it. "now, Sceptile, Leaf Blade!!" Kira yelled, Sceptile shattering the ice and creating a crack in the crystal.

Alister then reached the crystal and impailed his Ninja Sword into the crack almost reaching the center as crobat and Toxicroak used poison jab at it and arbok used poison fang. then as they all hit it Alister's eyes glowed "NOW! POISONOUS ASSULT!" he yelled as suddenly something was being leaked into the crystal and filling the crack with liquid poison and suddenly the sound of cracking came from inside the crystal as the poison was filling the crystal up and pushing outwards. suddenly the crystal shattered and Alister put his sword back into the sheeth. "There isnt any power any more" he said as his eyes went back to normal.

Walrus smiled.

Wallace's smile faded. He pointed his rod at Alister and a bolt of electricity flew at him. Luckily, Hope's boomerang flew in the way of the attack and fell to the floor, broken.

"Kids, we'll retreat for now, but don't think your nation stands a chance. We are taking mercy on you. The Milites Empire will conquer you all.

Alister looked up at Wallace "No way not now! Go Arbok and Crobat shower him with Poison Sting!" yelled Alister as a shower of needles came from the ground and Air straigt towards wallace and his Wailord

Kira glared at Wallace. "never!! Celebi!!" she yelled, throwing the PokeBall in the air as the Pokemon popped out. "Energy Ball!!" she yelled, Celebi charging up a blast and shooting it at Wallace.

With just a flick of the staff, the Energy Ball redirected and hit Alister and the Poison Stings turned and slammed into Kira.

"Fine, if you won't accept a surrender, we'll crush you into the ground," Wallace said.

Suddenly he seemed to be fading, as did the soldiers around him and the Wailord above. They were gone.

Hope staggered up to where Wallace had been standing.

"He's gone," she said. "But not defeated."

She turned to face her friends. The town was in ruins behind them, but nothing that couldn't be rebuilt.

"But guys," Hope said, her face twisting into a smile, "We won! We won the battle!"

Kira couldn't say anything. Instead, she fell to the ground from the poison. She lye there, unconscious as her Celebi few over to her and shook her. "bii..." it whined. Sceptile ran over to Kira as well, staring at her.

alisters pokemon blocked it by all using protect then it cleared and alister ran over to kira "Shit" he picked her up and carried her in his arms "damnit this is my fault. since Drex wasnt there he decided to call a command "everyone get back to base! we need to get some rest and head out to the next location!" he yelled as he ran to the base with Kira

Brendan: Alister's right! Everybody, get back to the lab.

May: Yeah, good work team!

 

​Chapter 1: Under the Vermilion Banner

 

The sky was blue and all seemed well. The town was quickly being rebuilt. Class-0 was cured and returned to normal life (studying fighting and magic at the lab) and the more severely injured were being released from the infirmary only three days later.

Fifteen members of Class-0 were sitting in their homeroom, waiting for class to start. In walked Drex and Kira, back from the infirmary.

Drex went straight to Rau.

"Thanks for the save," he said, patting him on the back. "I couldn't get past them alone."

Drex turned, looked briefly at Alister, and then marched straight towards Hisashi. He grabbed him by the collar and lifted him until he was standing up.

"You bastard!" he shouted. "If you would have listened to me and followed me to the lab, I could have gotten past the Houndours easily and stopped that last bomb from detonating! Maybe then, the weapons department wouldn't have been blown up! They've got to rebuild that now! And you remember Stacy? The weapons expert who gave a lecture last week? She's dead, along with thirty-two other researchers! And you could have stopped that!"

"Drex, please calm down..." Kira sighed, staring at him. Celebi pooped out of its ball, and Kira held it in her arms. "at least we got rid of the crystal." she said to him. "now please.... Put Hisashi down....." she said. Celebi smiled. "bi!!" it cried happily, flying around Drex and Hisashi. Kira looked at Alister and smiled.

Drex let go of Hisashi's shirt. It was slight, but if one looked closely, they could see that Drex was slightly weaker than normal. He returned to his seat in the middle of the class, next to Rau.

"Really, thanks," Drex said, calming down. "I would have been toast. Don't worry, I just absorbed too much energy, like a battery overcharging. They released it into our energy supply, so in a sense, the fire is charging our electricity now."

 

Hope moved her seat next to Alister.

"Don't blame yourself," she said. "You couldn't have done anything. We're all okay here, and that's what matters. And anyway, Wallace has been plotting for years- we probably were way out of our league."

She motioned for Kira to sit next to Drex.

"Kira, you're alright, right?" Hope called from across the room. "We've got the best doctors around, but you got hit hard."

Hishashi had his cocky arogant look he usually had on his face. "we will settle this later he said as he took his seat with his sawk and throh leaning against a wall.

 

Rau looked up from a book a stratagy and battle tactics. ".....its fine i was doing my job" Rau said quietly as his swampert raised its head at its masters respons as it had been asleep

 

Alister looked forward with his toxicroak beside him he kept quiet

Drex growled at Hisashi.

"I don't like your attitude on our team," he said. "The class voted me the class president. I suggest you listen to orders before we all wind up getting killed by you."

Hope stood up. "Stop it guys! Hisashi, we're supposed to be a family! And Drex, you're president, not judge and juror. Now guys, please, just calm down and get ready- the lesson's going to start soon."

"yeah, I'm fine. The poison's gone, and that's the important part." Kura said, smiling at Hope. She sat down next to Drex. She stared at a few bandages that were on her arm for a few moments. Celebi flew over to Hope smiling. "bi!!" it called excitedly.

Drex nodded at Kira.

"Good to see you okay. I was worried when I woke up in the infirmary and saw you were with me there too. I didn't know how severe your wounds were until the doctor told me. It's nice to see you up and about."

Hisahi glared at Hope "equipment is something that can easily be replaced" he said with a growl. Sawk and Throh began irritated just like their master as their emotions were conveyed

 

Alister still tried to keep quiet as a stress vein popped out of his head

 

Rau looked up from his book again and quietly spoke "...............actually most of the equipment is waterproof so i coud just use rain dance"

Kira Smiled at Drex. "thank you." she said, looking back at her bandages. "I'm glad I'm okay... I got hurt twice..." she said. Celebi flew over to Kira and Drex, smiling. "bi!!" it said cheerfully.

"CLASS! STOP!" a voice said from the door.

Brendan walked into the room, clipboard in hand.

"If we don't work together, we won't get anywhere. Everyone had their own role in this. We can't turn back fate," he said. "Who knows if a Rain Dance would have been faster than Drex's fire, and who knows if Hisashi wouldn't have gotten distracted elsewhere. We have a bigger problem on our hands, and it's not what could have happened."

"It's who happened," said May, walking into the classroom. She walked to the front of the class.

"There have been strange going-ons in addition to the battle, and I think we've all been affected by this," she said. "Who can name anyone who perished in the military department?"

The class was silent. Drex had just said someone's name, but who was it?

"No, that's the problem," May said. "The dead. Somehow, people are starting to forget the dead. We have records in our computer still tangible, but even the survivors in the department don't recognize these people anymore. They feel like they know someone, but they can't remember details. Each of you, try to remember someone that you lost recently. Any luck?"

Hisashi snickered "like i said unless uts somebody i know i dont care" he said

 

Alister slowly looked up anger was shown on his face from hisashi's remark "Nirit Sombedo, my father" he said

 

Rau looked up from his book "Rena Alphenges ,my sister" he said in his monotoned voice as he hid his face with the book as he began to cry. For the first time since joining class zero he had began to show some emotion.

"Komoto Frost... My... Brother..." Kira said quietly, a few tears running down her cheeks and dripping off her chin. She put her head down sadly. Celebi stated at Kira. "bi..." it whined.

"Good," Brendan said. "Hold onto these thoughts for as long as you can. You'll never know when you'll lose them. "

He looked scornfully at the ground.

"Because, I can remember my sister, but not her name or personality."
