In the land of Hoenn, there is a civil war taking place. There are four parties involved in the fighting, each taking a name from the Japanese Guardians:

 

The Milites Empire consists of the Elite Four of the region, and they seek to conquer the entire region for the advancement of their own power. They use powerful, fully evolved brute force and machinery to fight. Wallace stands as their supreme leader, and his charisma makes troops obey his every command.

 

The Kingdom of Concordia are the lovers of nature who hold a special power over Pokemon. They can communicate with Pokemon and raise them without the use of Pokeballs. They consist of few Rangers and tribes of Pokemon.

 

The Lorrican Alliance is the league of gym leaders from the region. They are a small and elite number that try to fight for their own power and authority, because they used to be the diplomatic leaders of the region. Once the Milites Empire struck, they lost authority. They will slowly disband and divide into other parties...

 

And finally-

 

The Suzaku Fiefdom of Hoenn (or just Suzaku) is the region of the Pokemon Professors. Here Professor Birch has trained a small army of students in the ways of Pokemon battling. They are the "heroes" of this story. They fight for an end to all the conflict. They stress peace and knowledge as the way of the future. As fighters, they do not rely on brute force, but on strategy and skill. Birch's lead commanders are Brendan and May, who oversee all of the classes and support the strongest members on missions. Many students attend the school, but only one class will receive the spotlight here...

Prologue: The Fires of Suzaku

 

 

“AAAARGH! WE’RE UNDER ATTACK!”

A fireball slammed into a home, engulfing it in flames. Milites soldiers stood laughing at their work, their flamethrowers in their hands. Suddenly something flew through the air. One soldier groaned. His friends looked at him. A flagpole had stabbed right through him and planted itself into the ground. The other solders looked upwards. From the roof jumped seventeen hooded figures.

“ Go!” their leader cried.

Quickly, the team dispatched the Milites soldiers. They cleared the bodies away from the flag. It’s golden phoenix shone brightly on the red background. The team stood under the flag.

“ Let’s go! Mission Apostle begins now!” they cried, thrusting their weapons into the air.

Littleroot Town was burning. Smoke filled the air. The Miltes Empire was trying to seize Suzaku’s stronghold.

Drex tossed off his hood and turned to face his team.

“Come on guys, the whole town is under attack. We’ve got to clear the area of soldiers. Split up and help as many civilians as you can,” he said. “We’re looking for their source of power. We kill it, we kill their weaponry. Divide and conquer.”

Drex spun his swords in his hands. His Quilava stood next to him. A soldier appeared from around the corner. He shot bullets towards Drex, but Quilava melted them with Flamethower. Drex cast a fire spell that knocked the soldier off guard. Drex ran up to him and stabbed downwards.

He pulled the blade out of the corpse. The hunt was on.

Kira sighed. "at least you can remember her at all..." she said. She looked at Celebi. "Komoto helped me capture Celebi." she said. "Bi!! Bi!!" Celebi cheered happily.

 

-flashback-

 

"do it, Kira!!" Komoto yelled.

"right!! Heal Ball!!" Kira yelled, throwing the PokeBall at the low health Celebi. The ball blinked twice before it stayed closed.

"yay!!" Kira yelled happily.

"nice job, Kira!!" Komoto said.

"he was helping Stacy in the lab..." Kira said.

(OOC: Anyone can jump in any time. This RP is set up so that the entire cast is together at almost all times. If your character is not mentioned in conversation, assume that he/she is standing/fighting nearby, and feel free to bring him/her into the conversation at any moment. Right now, everyone is sitting in the classroom.)

 

(OOC: Something fishy is going on in Hoenn. People are starting to lose their memory of people who die. They still existed, but it's like blank holes. It will be a gradual shift to start, but from this point on, any time a character dies, everyone will forget the person's name and past, regardless how strong their bonds. For example, if a parent dies, the child will remember they had a father or mother, but not remember what they were like.)

 

(OOC: Remember, everyone can control Brendan and May, and any of the other characters too. The only characters you cannot control are each others.)

(OOC: The first post should explain the backdrop. Recent history is that last week, Littleroot Town was attacked by the Milites. Our heroes saved the day, but the town lost many members. Notable events were Hisashi disobeying Drex, Drex destroying a set of bombs, Drex being unable to save the Weapons Department. A crystal was providing the enemy with strength, and the rest of the cast worked together to destroy it.

Present time, the Class is now actually in their classroom, awaiting their next mission.)

Neko shyly stayed in the back of the class room, Articuno on her shoulder, despite it's small size. "Articuno, you will do fine, I know it's odd having to meet other people like you, but it's okay, I'm here, Kay?" Neko said with a smile. "Arttii!" the Pokemon cheered. She slightly patted Articuno's head and smiled.

Brendan looked at Kira.

"We've got to set this aside and focus on our lesson," he said. "If any of you need counseling, see me after class."

May moved to the front of the class.

"Okay, today's lesson is on magic," she said. "Each of you is going to need to use each other's strength if we're going to survive this. Each of you has a different element. These 17 elements are the types of both Magic and Pokémon in the world. Each of you can utilize any spell, or attack of these Pokémon. Rau can use Water Pulse, Kira can use Synthesis, and Draden can use Dragon Rage. Each of you can use basic other forms of magic too, such as small bursts of fire or earth, and have advanced healing powers. You are able to absorb any type of magic similar to your own element. But as Drex displayed earlier, if you absorb too much, you will fall into a comma like state."

She waved her hand and a ghostly fist materialized in the air. May waved her hand, and the fist flew across the room and into Hisashi. He didn't flinch, but felt a burst of energy.

"When you absorb your own element, it strengthens your next casting of that element.If Hisashi used a fighting spell (or Fighting attack), it will be twice as powerful as it would have been. But if I hit him with numerous of these spells, he would collapse under the energy. Now I know you think you know your limits, but you cannot be sure. Remember, who is to say that the enemy won't focus all of their Flying spells on Neku and make her Overload?

Neko's head shot up, she was being called her super old nickname, Neku. "So If we use up to much of our energy we lose?" she asked, her hands shaking a bit.

"Not necessarily, Neku," May said. "If you use up too much magic, you'll cancel your ability to use magic for a while. The easiest way to do this is to rely too heavily on curative magic, because that drains you faster. The same thing goes for using overly powerful spells. If you run out, you've got to rely on raw weaponry."

Kira looked up. She had never used magic. "how do we use our magic?" she asked, slightly confused. Celebi flew into Kira's lap, smiling.

Drayden was leaning against the wall of the classroom. "heh, my Dragon types have more raw power then me, but Dragon Rage sure would be useful." he said, looking at May.

May looked at Kira and smiled.

"Each element has a different feeling associated with it. Just fill yourself with thoughts about that feeling and focus the energy on your hand. The spell will be generated at that spot. Main elemental spells are as follows.

 

Fire- Fire/Fira/Firaga (Shoot a fireball)

Water- Water/Watera/Watega (Shoot a bubble of water)

Electric- Thunder/Thundara/Thundaga (Shoot a thunderbolt)

Flying- Aero/Aerora/Aeroga (Shoot a gust of wind)

Normal- Ruin/Ruinra/Ruinga (Shoot a blast of energy)

Poison- Bio/Biora/Bioga (Shoot a poisonous blob)

Dragon- Comet/Meteor/Meteorain (Launch small comets from your hand[higher levels summon a meteor (Meteor) or multiple from the air])

Ice- Blizzard/Blizzara/Blizzaga (Shoot a blast of ice)

Dark- Gravity, Gravira, Graviga (Shoot a ball of darkness that drags enemies to the ground)

Psychic- Zero Gravity/Zero Gravira/ Zero Graviga (Shoot a ball of energy that lifts enemies into the air)

Rock- Stone/Stonera/Stonega (Launch a stone)

Ground- Quake/Quakra/Quakega (Earth raises from underneath enemy)

Ghost- Osmose/Osmosera/Osmoga (Drain magic from the enemy to increase yours)

Bug- Sap/Sapra/Sapega (Drain HP from enemy to increase yours)

Steel- Sabre/Sabrera/Sabrega (Buffs attacks and summons a sword (or two or three as level increases) to float beside you)

Fighting- Scathe/Scathera/Scathega (Inflict pain on enemy)

Grass- Sleep/Sleepra/Sleepga (Puts enemies to sleep, or slows them down if immune)

 

You can also manipulate elements to use the same attacks as Pokémon, but this takes great practice. Each of you also knows Cure/Cura/Curaga for healing. Let's have an example. Any volunteers?"

Kira had no idea how to use Cura. why must magic be so hard....? she thought.

"I'll go." Drayden said, smiling. He looked at a PokeBall he had taken from his belt. "it's easy." he said.

Rau was moving his pointer finger as he read from the book forming a small ring of water as he used aqua ring as he read.

 

Hisashi just glared.

 

Alister watched attetivly

Drex gave Kira a strange look. She didn't look too comfortable.

"Okay, Drayden, you stand up here," May said, motioning to a spot at the front of the class. "Hope, can you stand opposite of him?"

Hope took her place at the front.

"Now, class," May said, "Some of us have had more experience with magic than others and we've reviewed your files to check. Drex, Rau, Drayden, and Hope are just a few of you guys who have worked extensively with magic and should be able to cast at least basic spells. The higher the spell level, the greater its range and power, but the faster it drains you of energy. A skilled spellcaster should be able to fire off repeated first-level spells nonstop without sweating, while even the greatest spellcaster in Hoenn would need a delay after performing a more complicated spell.

Now, Hope, a Normal Type spellcaster relies on a feeling of normalness, or blankness. Her thoughts when relying on magic are to just aim natural magic at the opponent. Drayden, similarly, has an element that relies on natural magic. Once he fills himself with the idea of pure power or energy, he can use his Dragon spells. Each element has a different feeling associated with it, so remember that. Drex relies on passion to get his Fire burning, while Rau needs a cool head in order to use his strongest Water spells.

Drayden and Hope, can you give us an example of your basic spells?"

Hope nodded, flicked her wrist, and sent a white blast in Drayden's direction.

'Cool, this makes perfect sense. I control my powers and Articuno controls his...' Neko thought, staring at Hope and Drayden.

"Aero, Aerora, Aeroga..." she whispered as Articuno flew into her lap. Neko pet the little Pokemon and looking at the ground.

 

-|-...FlashBack....Age 7...-|-

 

Neko was running home from school with her small Pickachu doll in hand, smiling at the bright sun. "When will I get a pokémon of my own..." she asked, slightly twirling around. Something seemed to have pushed her farther, the wind. She then looked at the time and gasped. "Mom's going to be worried if I don't get home soon!" she whispered, running quickly down the road.

Kira watched Hope and Drayden. theyve been training for years.... I'll never get magic right... she thought. She held Celebi in her arms as she watched.

Drayden let the blast hit him, stumbling back a bit. "my turn..." he said with a smile. Flicking his wrist, he sent a purple blast towards Hope.

Rau, alister, and hisashi continued what they were doing

Hope spun and used a Ruin to lessen the force of the Comet, but it hit her and she was knocked backwards a little.

May stepped between them and cast a Cura, which healed them both.

"I guess that's where we'll end the lesson. If anyone has any questions, they can ask me after class. If not, you guys are free to do whatever you want for the day," she said.

Rau Stood up, still reading the book and left the class room soon followed by Hisashi, And then Alister.

Kira sighed. Standing up, she walked out of the classroom. "Bi!!" he Celebi cheered happily.

Drayden nodded at May, following Kira out of the classroom.

Drex packed his books and followed Kira.

"Hey Kira," he said. "You're having trouble with magic, right? If you are, I could go help you with it in the garden."

 

Hope jogged up to Rau.

"Rau, how are you doing?" she said. "What's that you're reading?"

Rau didnt look up from the book as he spoke to Hope "Im doing quite fine" he said before turning a page. "and to answer your second question I am reading "Advanced Tactics of War" book 17. I started reading these books just this week" he told her as his Swampert followed.

 

Hisashi went an open area outside and began training with Sawk, Throh, and Hitmonchan.

 

Alister gone to a large Oak tree in the area and was sitting on one of the branches. his back leaned up against the trunk of the tree. his crobat was hanging upsidedown on the branch above him and his arbok had coiled itself around the bottom of the tree. his toxicroak was laying on the tree like alister on a branch on the opposite side of the Trunk.

"Oh," said Hope, "Well that's nice. I know it's good to be prepared, but you should try being a bit more social. What do you say to lunch with Sixteen and I today?"

"Im not sure I prefer to just eat somewhere else when people are around" he told her as he closed the book "Finished time to go get book 18" he said

"Well," Hope said, "How about I quiz you with a Pokémon battle after lunch? We can see how much you've learned." She winked at him.

Rau suddenly smiled and then looked at Hope "That sound Lovely. 3 on 3 then?" he said knowing Hope was the Normal attribute she could have her pokemon use many more attacks than just normal giving her the upperhand. "also i would like to spar. during the battle"
