'Ello! Silver here. I've been writing on and off, and recently decided to try my luck, and put up a story here. So eh, yeah. Let's see how this goes. This is only the prologue and a chapter, to see how everyone likes it. If enough people approve of this, I'll continue the story~
So let's see how this goes, shall we?
Sylph
Introduction:
In another realm, lies what is known as the Southern Kingdom, or more specifically, Arian; the Land of the Elves. Here, three races thrive: The New Elves, The Dark Elves, and the Forest Elves. They live in a near-peaceful harmony, though tensions between the three are common- and misunderstandings have lead to war.
In the middle of this country, lies a floating mass of land combined with powerful technology (A machinery known as Magin, machines that run on magical energy). This place is the capital city, known as Unietus Arcem. The most prominent of this gleaming floating city is the massive castle, which dominates the entire island itself. It houses the Elven Senate, which is run by the High Queen.
Yet..something is amiss. The late High Queen is found to be assassinated, and her successor is missing.
And that is where this story begins.
Prologue:
Four people sit around a large mahogany table, all of them in a quiet contemplation. All of them are elves; one, a male, has fair skin, and golden hair; another, a female, has greenish hair, and a impish smile; the third (another male), has dark grey skin, and glowing red eyes. The first one wears a black hood the obscures his face, yet slits in the hood allow his long elven ears to escape the confines.
"I concur." The one with dark grey skin finally says, breaking the long silence, agreeing to something they were debating on, "If it is for the sanctity of our combined race, then I will join this...group of yours, San."
The green-haired elf nods in agreement, her childish face now stern, "Yes. If we wish to ensure our people live on for eternity, then finding this...person you speak of must be found."
The first elf, presumably named San, cracks a smile. The wrinkles around his mouth crinkle in a way that shows that smiling is something he does often...thought now it's more of a dark smirk than anything else. San rests a hand on the table, it being covered in a glistening black gauntlet.
"I'm glad you see it my way. Regalus Ou-Nu," San gestures to the green-haired elf, "Regalus Crela....thank you. May Ezeral smile upon you both." San said, before standing up. He was tall, and his hood flowed downward in some sort of ceremonial garb. A black symbol resembling an Omega was adorned upon it.
With that, the elf named San pushed open a large brown door behind the table, leaving the room. This left the other two to sit in silent peace, thinking over their decisions.
Chapter One: Sioto
"Sioto Uen." A voice called out, and I blinked. I shook my head, wiping a bit of sweat off my brow. Man was it hot.
"Sioto Uen." The voice called out again, and I jumped, realizing that was me; Sioto Uen. Sioto. Uen. New Elf. No father, nor a mother. A orphan, then. Raised by the family of his best friend. A mischief maker to some, a skilled swordsman to others. And an all around nuisance for our mayor.
Naturally, it was the mayor himself who was leading the whole procession I was in. He stared at me, his ridiculous walrus-esque mustache, top-hat, and elven ears all bundled in a way that made it hard not to laugh. But I managed, and stepped forward when the mayor called my name for who-knows-the-amount now.
"Good luck." A voice whispers, and I turn to see my friend Akita. My only friend, really. I nod to her, turning back and resuming my small trek up to the mayor.
"Glad to see you finally decided to show up, Sioto." The mayor taunted, his blank expression hiding a sly smile. This man hated my guts, and he enjoyed any moment he could taunt me.
"Eh, sorry sir. Only came when I heard there'd be cake." I replied, smiling as I watched the mayor clench his hand, his face slightly tremble as he stifled his anger. He succeeded in that endeavor. No point in strangling a kid during his own Coming of Age ceremony in front of the entire town.
"Alright. Welcome, Sioto." The mayor said, turning to the crowd with an obviously fake beaming smile. Yet the crowd just simple gobbled it up, giving off a loud cheer. I smiled, a bit on anxiety building up in me. Finally, I was sixteen years old, eligible for the Coming of Age ceremony that would let me journey across our country. I had been waiting for this moment for a long time.
"...and it is with great honor that I present Sioto with a bronze emblem, so he can carry out his journey." The mayor finished off his speech, and only then did I realize how long I spaced out.
The mayor pulled out a bronze disk, and handed it to me. I tossed it up a bit, smiling at how light it was. The mayor looked at me with his trademark stop-making-me-look-like-a-fool looks.
I sighed, blowing some air in an intentionally loud sigh.
"Thank you, Sioto. Please, get back in line now." The mayor said through gritted teeth, and I silently walked back to my place among the other elves who would also be taking the journey. Akita had magically moved next to my spot, and I smiled as I reached her.
"Congrats, Sioto." She said with a small smile, grabbing the bronze emblem out of my hands before I could react. The front was emblazoned with a flower- the symbol for youth. Akita handed the emblem back to me, tousling my black hair. I grumbled something, looking at her.
Now, the normal New Elf had blonde hair and blue eyes, which Akita is a prime example of. Me, on the other hand, I have black hair and green eyes. So, yay for me. I'm special.
"Akita Sozo." The mayor said, and Akita punched my shoulder as she walked off. I frowned, looking at her as she walked off. One thing that annoyed me the most about her? She's an inch taller than me, and aspect I dread. She stood there in her pristine happiness, quietly smiling as she stood before the crowd.
I looked out as well, looking at our boring old town of Merinai- the capital city for New Elves. Off in the hazy summer horizon, I saw steam rise from the Magin factories, where mass amounts of magical energies were ripped from the planet's veins.
~
I must've spaced out again, because Akita happily walked back over to me, holding her own bronze emblem.
"Now we're both ready for our Journey." She said, hopping a bit in some sort of ecstatic dance. I nodded. Yes, I was excited to finally be able to leave this town, and explore the world...but maybe it was nostalgia...but I felt like I would miss this place. The white-brick homes, the Magin factories, and then the small bay that laid outside the town.
"Hey Sioto?" Akita asked, looking off into the distance just like I was doing.
"Yeah?" I replied, my hand shaking as I held the emblem in my palm.
"Let's head to my father's after this. Grab some gear before we leave."
"Wait, we're leaving so soon?!" I said back to her, looking at her like she was crazy. And to me, she was.
"Yes, numbskull! I want to meet the High Queen as soon as possible."
I nodded, smiling at that, "Eh, sure. I guess so." I sighed, and finally, the last person left the mayor's podium, and all of us stood in a neat row.
The mayor nodded to us all, and we unceremoniously walked off the stage. Several people within the crowd clapped, and a few of us smiled, waving back. I didn't. No one there was clapping for me; with literally no family to rely on, I was alone.
Of course, it wouldn't stay that was for long. Eventually, things would brighten up, and I'd have a whole adventure to look forward to.
Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed it. Sorry if it's a bit rough, I'm still learning. But I hope it was still decent enough to read. So thanks again. I hope to continue this soon.
