Tron: Infinity, a 1x1 With rikunobodyxiii and VIIth Angel

Posted

This is a 1x1 With me and rikunobodyxiii, and we ask that you don't post on this thread (however feel free to like our posts or send us personal messages to give us suggestions or compliments :) )

Premise:

Two years have passed since the events of Tron: Legacy, and everything has been otherwise quiet, Sam and Quorra being able to live out their lives happily. Unfortunately, the peace was never meant to last. A rival company to Encom called Aerodel has recently infiltrated Encom headquarters, and stole much of Encom's property that they could get their hands on, including a flash drive belonging to Sam Flynn, which was mysteriously kept in a safe. After examining all of the stolen goods, the CEO of Aerodel had connected the flash drive to his computer, only to discover that an entire virtual world, the Grid, lay dormant inside. The CEO devilishly devised a plan, to expand the virtual world by programming it to infect the Internet and expand the Grid. The virtual world is now a part of the Internet, where all information sent through it is reported back to Aerodel, where they can steal the ideas and produce it as their own. The CEO has also made another unintentional discovery, ISOs. Thought to have all been executed in the original Grid, no one had considered the possibility of ISOs existing throughout the vast Internet, mainly because rarely anyone knew of them. They posses a very powerful genetic code not made by humans (also known as users) and their evolution had led to extraordinary abilities, both in the Grid and in the real world. Though the CEO of Aerodel is unaware of their potential power, there will be no telling what his next move will be once he figures out their significance. Sam Flynn realizing the problems that could arise from this, also created a program that can virtualize people through mere Web cams, and after locating the top software engineers, hackers, and programs (which now have been personified into humanoid beings due to the Grid integrating itself into the Internet) is now attempting to get in contact with them, through physical means or virtualizing through the Internet to Encom to enlist there help him search for these ISOs, and to destroy the areas on the Internet Aerodel has taken over.

Rules:

-Basic KH13 rules

-No killing without permission (though realize it's possible to die in the Grid and not actually die, so don't be invincible)

-post "ISO bored" to show you have read the rules

Character Selection:

Users: These are human beings, flesh and blood, who are able to pass from the real world to the Grid at will. While normal in our world, on the Grid they have special abilities of manipulating the Grid to an extent, depending on their knowledge of programming or the modifications they were given prior to entering the virtual world. For their own safety, Sam has modified the virtualization process to where users are assigned a set amount of life points, and are materialized into the real world once the life points reaches zero so as not to be permanently derezzed (destroyed in the Grid) and are returned to the place they were virtualized, unable to enter the Grid again for 24 hours.

Programs: User created computer born entities, this species are software programs that have been turned into humanoid beings after the Grid was created, (and after the Grid sad integrated into the Internet). They have the possibility of entering the real world, though the only known materialization program was the one created by Sam Flynn, and he has currently set the program to where it only has the ability to materialize users into the real world, to prevent a rogue program like Clu (the antagonist from Tron: Legacy) from entering the real world. When derezzed, it is possible for the programs to be recreated, though it takes quite a while to do so. They each have a special ability depending on the function of their programming, and can easily travel through the Internet at light speed, not requiring any assistance or transportation like users.

(Okay, I'll probably add in a few characters myself as we go along.)

[Grid]

A program that looked like a neon sign, with images of different products constantly changing on it as it walked through a computer system.

"...and if you act now, we'll throw in the Kitchen Master-BIZZZTTT!" It said as a Lightdisc burst through its chest.

The program fell forward, derezzing into individual pixels till it was gone. The Lightdisc arced through the air to the hand of its owner, the Security program, Virgil. He replaced the disc on his back and turned to leave, never giving the derezzed program a second glance.

Virgil moved through the system till he got to a terminal he could use to report to the Users. He held out his disc and a glowing beam extended up to the digital sky.

"Reporting in." he said in a business tone. "Last Adware program previously detected has been eliminated."

He let out a sigh.

"I freaking hate those things."

"You and me both." Alan Bradley said with a chuckle through the pillar of light. "But since it's all quiet on this end, that should be it for them on this system. I'll reconnect to the main server and get you back to the main hub."

"Got it. Any word from Sam on the Users he wants to recruit?"

"Not yet, but he's still working on the list. I'll explain more when you get to your mainframe."

"Confirmed."

Virgil felt a tingle as he was transferred from the personal laptop of a ENCOM board member and Cloud Network ENCOM owned and maintained.

Kevin parted his matted brown hair out of his eyes as he awoke in his Motel room. This was the first night in a long time he'd gotten a full nights rest, and he was almost disappointed that there was no Korean or US agents after him recently

Almost.

Kevin dressed himself in a pair of clothes that neatly folded on the dirty motel dresser he had placed there the night before, and reached for his backpack. He began to leave when he looked to the mirror that lay on the side of the old wall leading to the door, examining his own features. Kevin wasn't filthy today, he found an ATM through which he could extort money from using a card he designed to automatically give him 200 bucks, enough to get him through a couple of days, but not enough to draw attention. However, his hair remained unkempt, as he hadn't looked at a comb since the last time he was in his own room.

Kevin smiled slightly, reminiscing on better days. After standing there for a while, he snapped out of his trance and left the room.

He was back in the foreign town he'd arrived to recently, one somewhere in Arkansas. After being on the run for a while, one tends to blur the city limits, and everything begins to seem like one big endless racetrack, containing a race that Kevin could never win.

He looked to his left and saw a public library. The image of a computer beckoned him. He wanted to mess around on the computer again, if only for a few minutes.

He shrugged, and decided to give it a try. Kevin approached the library, to be once again immersed in the familiar realm of numbers and algorithms.

Sam Flynn examined documents on an ENCOM computer screen in the CEO office of ENCOM enterprises, that showed locations of everywhere that Kevin Grant had been to. Unlike the agents that were after him, Sam had the skills required to find a hacker as illusive as Kevin.

"It's almost time." Sam said to Quorra, as she stood behind Sam. "We just need him at a computer screen, and I can bring him to us. And if he's anything like I am with computers, it won't be long before he wants to be at the screen of a computer again, like a moth attracted to a bright light. I'm going to contact the program I've enlisted help from."

Sam typed in a code, and pressed enter, sending a ray of light containing the message "It's time." which was sent to Virgil to signal Sam's desire to get in contact with him.

Virgil was just settling down with some reports Alan had given him on candidates of Users when Sam's message reached him. He closed the reports and ran out of his apartment/security center that his mainframe looked like. He speed through lines of code and wireless signals to Sam Flynn's computer.

"Virgil here." he reported. "You find the User you were looking for?"

Sam continued typing on the keyboard, when he heard Virgil's voice.

"Almost," Sam replied. "I know he has to come on some-"

A beep rang from the desktop a few feet away from him.

"There he is." Sam said, scooting his chair over to the computer that was ringing. "Launching the virtualization program now, time to meet Kevin."

Kevin had inserted a flash drive that put a protection against any access to the computer he was using, and was researching any progress the governments that were after him had made locating him. Kevin had found that he was lower on both the American and Korean most wanted list, that was progress.

"Alright better get offline before the librarian catches on to my fire wall." Kevin said to himself, putting on his backpack and standing up. Before he had logged off, a message popped onto the computer screen.

Curious, Kevin sat down to read the message.

"Are you Kevin Grant?" He read the message aloud. He was afraid this was one of the governments trying to get a hold of him, but examining the message he saw that though the coding seemed familiar, it didn't belong to the people who were after him.

Whether it was because he was willing to take a risk, or just tired of running, he decided to do something that any smart person wouldn't dare do. Kevin replied.

After typing in yes, another message popped up.

"Welcome Kevin, this will only take a millisecond?" Kevin read aloud again. Suddenly a bright blue light shone from the webcam, and before Kevin could show any sign of concern, he was no longer in the library. He was standing in front of Virgil, in the Grid.

Virgil treated Kevin to a friendly smile.

"You must be the User Kevin Grant." He greeted. "I am the security program Virgil. The first thing you need to do is take some deep breaths, because when you ask me to explain what is going on and/or where you are, it would help if you remained calm."

Virgil raised his arms away from the sides of his body, palms out.

"I'm not here to hurt you. Just offer you a job."

Kevin started to hyperventilate.

"HOW DID, WHERE AM, WHO ARE-"

He almost passed out before he was able to snap out of it.

Trying to ignore the fact that he was in a completely new environment, one he'd never experienced before, he looked to Virgil.

"I don't know what kind of drugs you have me under, but I'm not scared of your light show. I don't want to work for any government anymore."

"We aren't any government, you can be sure of that." A voice could be heard everywhere in the vicinity of where Kevin and Virgil were.

"What was that?!" Kevin asked startled.

"Who was that, dude. And I'm Sam Flynn."

Then it hit Kevin. "I knew it! That message you sent, that had ENCOM programming all over it I can recognize your company's programs anywhere."

"Good," Sam replied. "It's those kind of skills that we need you."

Kevin paused for a second. "I don't care if your a government or a software company, I am not working for anyone it got me in trouble last time."

"This isn't just any job offer. " Sam continued. "This is your ticket to freedom. A clean slate."

Kevin paused again. "What are you talking about?" Kevin asked.

"You help us, and I'll pay both the Korean and US government enough money to leave you alone."

Kevin considered this for a long time before he spoke again. "Alright fine. Anything to see my mom again... What did you have in mind?"

"I'll have Virgil fill you in on what we are going to do. I have to check in on some more recruits, I trust you'll be taken good care of." Sam said before there was silence again.

"Welcome to the Grid." Virgil announced, with a slight dramatic flare to his voice. "As you can guess, you are now inside the interconnected computer systems of the world."

He stepped back, swinging an arm out as an invitation for Kevin to look out at the panoramic view of the section of Grid they were currently standing in. Though it was a small section, it still teamed with lights as program bussled around and below Kevin and Virgil, who stood on what looked like an overpass.

"Normally, systems are more removed from each other, with simple bridges to connect them together. That was until a User company called Aerodel stole a dormant copy of a system that was designed from inside the Grid. It was revolutionary and Aerodel used it to connect all systems together directly. This allows them near unlimited access to any data they want. Our job is to destroy what the use to monitor the data."

Virgil lapsed into silence for a few moments.

"There is more information and objectives to our task, but first get use to what I have already told you. If you have questions, ask. When you are ready for details on our other task, say so."

  • Author

Kevin had many questions to ask, but refrained from asking, learning from his post experience the dangers of knowing too much.

"I'm good I guess, just tell me what I need to do and how I'm going to do it." He replied.

Sam cracked his knuckles and sipped his coke can, watching Virgil's progress with Kevin.

"So what's the next step?" Quorra asked pacing back and forth before leaning on Sam's desk.

"Well, we still have some people a little late to the party, and once everyone is finally here, we can attack the towers placed by Aerodel."

He held out a picture of a woman on his tablet.

"I sent an invitation, blue where are you, Alice?"

{Virgil}

"Our second objective is locating and protecting Isomorphic AlgorIthems." Virgil began to explain. "They are generally referred to as ISOs. They are programs that were not created by Users. They spontaneously generate in cyberspace. Kevin Flynn, Sam Flynn's father, found the first ISOs while inside the grid. While all but one of those ISOs were derezzed, we have found evidence more are generating out on the net."

Virgil raised an eyebrow.

"Second Q&A session."

{Alice}

Sam's phone buzzed as a text message came in.

Alice Brown here. At ENCOM. Mr Bradley is showing me my office. Give me a text if you need me.

  • Author

Kevin paced the black floor he was standing on.

"I knew there was something weird going with the ENCOM and Aerodel companies, any hacker could see that." He looked to Virgil. "Are you saying that these ISOs are fully aware beings? Are programs like that too now that this Grid thing is here?" He asked Virgil.

Sam smiled at the message. "Good, everyone I need for now is here, as soon as Kevin is familiar with the Grid, we can start." Sam said, beginning to type on the computer.

[Virgil]

"ISOs and most programs possess awareness of what they are, like Users." Virgil answered. "ISOs are more like Users in the fact that they can choose their directives freely. We programs have directives written into us. That directive dictates what we do. We can choose how we complete our directives, but we must follow our directives."

Virgil leaned against the low wall of the bridge he and Kevin stood on. What looked to be a lamp post supported him from the waist up. Crossing his arms casually, Virgil gave gave a sniff and glanced at the digital sky as if looking for something.

"What else would you like to know?"
